Sarah’s POV:
I kept looking at her in shock as she said those words to me. I could never imagine my mom marrying someone again in life after my dad left us. It was unbelievable and distressing.
“Um, wha – what?” I asked her in shock.
“Um, I am sorry sweetheart. I know this must be very shocking for you but I… I – I don’t know what to do… I love that man, you know…” She said holding my hands firmly.
I gulped and looked away, taking a deep breath to calm myself down. It was hard to process all that but I started, “Um, mom… I – I am just a little confused… I mean, I thought you were… you were just dating people for – for fun, a – a fling you know… I never thought something could become this serious in your dating life…”
“I know, I know sweetie… I didn’t realize when I fell in love with him. And you know what…?” She excitedly moved forward and held my hand tightly to continue, “He’s – He is a billionaire… He is so rich, Sarah. All our problems will…”
“Mom…” I said and moved my hand away from her grip to add, “Are you marrying him just for money?”
“No, no… Sarah, no… I love him. I want to spend my life with him” She said and then once again held my hand firmly to add, “Listen, honey… Your father left us when you were very young. You were just 11 years old when he left us to marry that woman. I was shattered. I didn’t know what to do. A friend of mine helped me to get a job and – and I did it to earn money for you to give you a better life. I didn’t date anyone until you entered high school. But when I started dating again, I also thought that it was – it was just for fun, but I didn’t realize when this turned into a serious thing with Rowen…” She said and I felt sympathy for her.
I gulped and started, “So… His name is Rowen…?”
She nodded in embarrassment while I didn’t know what to say to her. I was feeling like after my dad, my mom was leaving me too.
“Um, okay, mom… If you want to marry him, you must go ahead” I said to her and she began to smile widely and pulled me in a tight hug.
“Thank you so much, Sarah… For understanding this. You are an incredible daughter. I love you, sweetheart” She said while hugging me and I gently placed my hand on her back, tapping her.
“It’s okay, mom…” I said as we moved apart. “Just – just be happy” I said to her and smiled.
“Rowen will definitely keep me happy” She said happily while I smiled and nodded.
“Um, another request, darling…” Mom started while I looked at her in confusion.
“What is it?” I asked her.
“I want you to meet him tomorrow” She said.
“What? Mom, I don’t want to meet him. It’s not necessary” I said to her.
“Come on, Sarah… You must get to know him. I am marrying that man. He is going to be your stepfather. You must be well aware of everything about him” She said.
“But mom… What will we talk about… It’s going to be um, um awkward” I said to her.
“Sarah, please… Even he wants to meet you too. We want to get married before your school starts, you know” She said.
“What? That’s too early mom” I said to her.
“I know… But – but it would be nice, you know… We’ll do everything before your school starts so that you can have time to spend with Rowen…” She said.
“Mom, this is…” I started, shaking my head to a no.
“Sarah, please… Understand this. Also… He has some important work to do next week. He wants to get married before that” Mom insisted and I took a deep breath before nodding.
“Okay, mom…” I said reluctantly.
“So we are going to meet him tomorrow for lunch at 1, okay?” She asked me excitedly and I thought for a second wondering how awkward it was going to be, but nodded and bent my face down.
“Thanks a lot, my dear… You don’t know how much I love you…” She said placing her hand on my cheek.
“I – I love you too, mom” I said to her and then rubbed my forehead to continue, “I should ah… I should go to my room and get some sleep. I am really tired…”
“Oh sure, dear… Don’t you want to eat something?” She asked me.
“No, I – I am not hungry…” I said to her.
“Okay but yeah… You wanted to tell me something, right?” She asked me inquisitively and I went back to my crush but this time it wasn’t exciting me much. I sat there thinking about him but the fact that my mom was marrying some man came rushing into my mind and I began to shake my head to a no.
“Um, there is nothing, mom… Just some protest stuff… It isn’t important. Um, I got to go” I said to her and stood up.
“Okay, honey… Sleep well” She said tapping my shoulder and I nodded, walking away from there and climbing up the stairs to my room.
Throwing myself on the bed, I placed both of my hands on my forehead and began to think about what mom told me. I still couldn’t believe her marrying someone. I wondered what it would be like to have a stepfather and how I would manage to be around him and that too all normal. It was going to be awkward and I knew it. I quickly grabbed my phone and called Eloise.
“Hey…” Eloise said as she answered the call.
“Hi… El, can we meet tomorrow for breakfast?” I asked her with my eyes shut.
“Yeah sure? But why not lunch?” She asked me.
“I’ll tell you everything tomorrow. Can you ask Gene to come as well, please?” I asked her.
“Yeah sure, I will… Where are we meeting? My place?” She asked me.
“No, um… Can we go to Flynn’s Café…?” I asked her.
“Yeah okay…” She said and then added after a pause, “Sar, is everything okay? You sound quite tensed?”
“I am, tensed… El…” I said to her worriedly.
“Sar, you are scaring me… What has happened?” She asked me anxiously.
“I’ll tell you everything tomorrow, don’t worry… I’m fine” I said to her.
“Is this related to that crush guy?” She asked me suspiciously.
“What? No…” I said out loud and then added, “It’s something else… Just don’t ask me anything right now… We’ll meet tomorrow… I am hanging up now” I said and before she could say anything else, I hung up the call and threw the phone next to me, sighing.
“I shouldn’t think more about this. I need to go to sleep” I told myself and immediately pulled the blanket up to my face and shut my eyes. After a while, I removed the blanket from my face and whispered, “Is mom actually marrying someone?”
I gulped and sighed in frustration, before pulling the blanket back to my face and went to sleep thinking about how the meeting with my to-be-stepfather would go...
Sarah’s POV: The next morning, my eyes opened up to some birds chirping outside the window. I smiled while looking at them and stretched my hands and legs, groaning. It felt like a nice morning. The sun was shining brightly and its rays hitting me directly made me feel good. I took some deep breaths, meditating and trying to forget all my worries but suddenly the most worrisome thought came rushing into my mind and I stopped smiling. I couldn’t help but to keep thinking about it. Taking a deep breath, I got up from my bed and walked to the bathroom to get ready for the breakfast with Eloise and Gene. As I got ready and climbed down the stairs, I saw mom eating something. “Hey, you are up?” She asked me as I reached her. “Yeah…” I said to her. “Sit down… I’ll get you something to eat” She said and stood up from the chair. “Ah, no mom… I am fine… I am going to have my breakfast with El and Gene at Flynn’s” I said to her, rubbing my forehead. “Oh okay…” She said and as I turned a
Sarah’s POV: I kept looking at the man walking towards us. His personality was outstanding. I had always seen such men in movies or TV shows but he was in real. I couldn’t help but notice how manly he was. He was wearing a grey suit with white shirt inside and a navy blue tie. He has a warm ivory skin tone with aqua blue eyes. He has full grey beard with chocolate brown highlights and his hair is also of same color as of the beard. His walk was smart and confident with a straight posture giving him a dashing look. I wondered about how a man like him liked my mom and wants to marry her but then I turned to look at my mom who was looking equally beautiful and charming. I took a deep breath and once again, looked at the man who just reached us. “Hello, sweetheart” He greeted my mom in his deep manly voice and kissed her on the cheeks. “Hello, Rowen…” She said and smiled at him. “You must be Sarah” Rowen said and I smiled nervously. “Yeah, yeah I am…” I said as he sat down opposite
Sarah’s POV: After coming back from lunch I thought about the wedding the whole day. I thought about how I would handle that stepbrother, Zayn. I never met him before although now I wanted to. I wanted to meet him and talk to him. I wanted him to be happy for his father just like I was trying to be happy for my mother. What if that guy Zayn won’t like me and be rude to me? What will I do then? How will I be able to live in that house with him? My mom would obviously be involved in her new life with her new husband and I would be there all alone with that stepbrother who won’t even consider me his stepsister. My life would become a hell and no one would be there to help me. I threw myself on the bed while thinking about it. Taking a sigh in frustration I began to wonder if I did the right thing by agreeing to move into that house. I could have stayed on my own in this house which has so many memories. I lived here with my dad. I grew up here with him. I can feel his love in this house
Sarah’s POV: I kept looking at him in shock while trying to process what I just saw. The first crush of my life was there in front of me and I couldn't help but adore him once again while he tightened his grip on my elbow and kept glaring at me. "Yo - You...?" I managed to speak up. "What the hell is wrong with you?" He asked bitterly and I groaned in pain as he tightened the grip more. "You - you are hurting me..." I cried out while trying to remove his hand off mine. "And you keep bumping into me..." He replied bitterly and jerked my hand away, releasing it while I began to rub my elbow with tears in my eyes. "Listen to me, you little piece of shit..." He started and walked towards me while I moved backwards. Pointing his finger at me, he continued, "Do not show me your face ever again or else you'll see what I can do..." He said bitterly and walked away from there without letting me say or ask anything. I turned to look at him walking outside the house while still rubbi
Sarah’s POV: I wanted to bury myself down there as I looked up at him. I wished I was dead and didn’t have to show my face to him again as he warned me. “And yet once again…” My evil crush said bitterly and I gulped. “I – I…” I started and he walked towards me with an intense glare after which I added immediately, “Lis – Listen to me… Please…” I raised my hand up in the air and walked back while he continued to walk towards me. “Now, I’ll…” He started bitterly. “Hey kids…” Someone’s voice came for my rescue as he stopped walking and turned around to see Rowen and my mom standing outside the dining room. Thank you, Rowen. Thank you for saving me! I thought while looking at Rowen and my mom. My evil crush turned around and looked at Rowen, rolling his eyes. Once again, I wondered why he was in that house. “Sarah…” Mom called me out and I immediately walked towards her. “Mom…” I said as I reached her. “I need to tell you something…” I whispered to her. “Sarah…” Rowen started and
Sarah’s POV: I kept looking to see who he was when suddenly he turned around and I gulped, realizing that it was none other than my stepbrother, Zayn, who was following me behind. He was wearing blue shades which looked terrific on his perfectly shaped face. I breathed heavily and moved back as he walked hastily towards me and took off his shades. “You?” I asked anxiously. “Listen to me carefully…” He started bitterly and I took a step back. “Stay still” He added loudly and I skipped a beat. “I – I…” I started. “I said, listen to me carefully…” He added sharply and continued, “I won’t let you or your mother to stay in my house for long. I will make sure you leave because I hate you and I’ll do whatever I want to give you a reason to leave that house and even… To leave this town, Sarah Thompson…” He glared at me before walking away from there while I stood there still in shock and couldn’t digest down his words. I could feel having difficulty in breathing as he walked to the car
Sarah’s POV: For a few seconds, I had stopped breathing. Tapping down my neck, I brought myself back. “What?” I asked in shock but didn’t realize that I was loud enough for everyone to hear me. They all turned to look at me in confusion after which I continued, “Ah, I – I mean…” I chuckled nervously and added, “How – how is this possible… To – to complete the senior year in my school” “Sarah, dear… I have many contacts. I can manage to do that” Rowen replied while my mom looked at him in pride, pissing me off. “Dad… I can’t go to her school. I will complete my senior year in my school” Zayn argued loudly. “Zayn… They have already transferred you into her school. There is no going back now” Rowen order. “Dad, I am not…” He started and then looked at me while I gulped. I was happy to see him refusing to come to my school because even I didn’t want him to come there. I knew it would be a nightmare to be with him in the same school but I didn’t have to say anything because Zayn wasn
Sarah’s POV: I began to take some steps back while he continued to walk towards me with that intense glare. “Stay – stay away…” I managed to speak up with my hands raised up in the air. “Or…?” He asked and continued to walk forward until I hit the pillar behind me and my breaths began to get heavier. “Or – or I…” I started and he came closer and leaned towards my face. “I am not taking you with me” He said bitterly and I looked up at him in shock. “You can come on your own” He added and walked away from there to reach his car while I stood there in shock and confusion. “And yes…” He said and stopped before getting into his car while I looked at him. “Do not tell this to your dear mother or your stepfather. Understood?” He pointed his finger at me and said. “Or else, what? Are you threatening me?” I asked him loudly. “Yes, I am…” He said with his eye brow raised up. “I am threatening you… And my threats are real and dangerous, dear stepsister…” He added sharply and got into the
