Chapter 6: Not the Lucky One

The owner of the feeders’ bar, an old white-haired man announced with a warm smile on his face, and without inquiring as to where I was from, he pulled the contract from underneath the bartender’s table and placed the document on it. At that moment, the bar was completely packed.

“You are more than welcome to sign your name right here!” He stated; the owner pointed with his index finger to the spot where I had to sign before gaining the job, and since his eyes were on the paper at the time, he hadn’t seen me yet at that moment.

But as soon as he tore his eyes away from the paper, he noticed that the young lady who was standing in front of him appeared to be in some sort of distress.

“Are you homeless?” He inquired while checking out the surroundings in front of him, and as he did so, he accidentally dropped his sunglasses so that they landed on his nose.

“Y-yes, sir, I am...” I stammered, and I was worried that I would be rejected.
