Chapter 22 - Deep Fog, Part 1

In the center of the Damenburg castle was an imposing tower that protruded from the main building, being the highest structure of the castle, it stood out from the other four towers.

This was the tower of the Lord, given its strategic location, in case of siege it was the place where the King (along with his family) had to take shelter.

Anyone might think that the final boss battle should take place in the throne room, but strategically it doesn't make sense.

For this reason, in the event of an attack, Zark would find himself in his chambers located in the tower of the lord, in which was a secondary throne room, which although it was relatively smaller, did not mean that it was less majestic.

For any intruder to reach this peak, he had to collect some special objects that functioned as keys, each of these objects were protected by each of the generals.

On the other hand, any intruder who came to the main throne room would find an unpleasant surprise, since Keil was the custodian of that place, who is possibly among the 3 most powerful generals (along with Ingrid and Azrael) .

Near Zark's rooms, is his dressing room, the sides of the room consisted of large closets integrated into the wall in which they had garments of all styles and designs, each one made in an exquisite way and composed of the materials of highest quality.

At the back of the room is a large oversized full-length mirror embedded in the wall.

At the moment the dressing room was full of all kinds of items, from cloaks and tunics to weapons and armor of all designs.

Zark had ordered a series of items to be brought to this place in an attempt to experience the effects of the different magic items.

With a quick tour, Zark could find any item that he will need.

From the variety of weapons in the room, Zark picked up a short sword, slowly removing the weapon sheath, the silver Mithryl blade of the weapon was revealed to glow in the light, engraved on the blade were magical symbols similar in design to the Nordic alphabet. .

"Runes" Zark whispered to himself.

Curiously, he brought his left hand to the writing and used the "[Read Magic]" spell.

On top of the runes, as if it were a hologram, the words 'Sharp +1' emerged.

Apparently those runes were for the purpose of identifying the weapon's enchantment.

I swing the weapon from side to side in an attempt to search for a change in her body, but the only relevant feeling was that the weapon was abnormally light and its grip extremely comfortable.

Drawing his gaze closer to the sword, this revealed that its edge was extremely sharp and shone slightly.

Zark was a full spellcaster, that meant his magic-related abilities were very high but his physical abilities were relatively low. But, even though his physical capabilities were low compared to a melee combatant, he shouldn't be underestimated. Since its offensive capabilities were roughly equivalent to a level 10 Full Warrior, of course it would be something like a poorly cooked Warrior since it would not have special combat skills or Feats focused on that type of combat, so objectively although the Outside of a level 20 Fullcaster with 10 extra levels of a Mythic class, as a warrior he was disappointingly a level 10 hopefully.

Zark assumed a position with the sword, although he personally had never used a sword, his new body knew what to do.

With a firm movement, he made a cut in the air and as a result of this some shock waves were released by the force used in the weapons.

Small pieces of glass fell to the ground, denoting that he had exaggerated.

He carelessly tossed the gun aside.

"Clean this up."

A group of android servants followed Zark's order and he directed his gaze towards a wall that was almost completely covered in mirrors, showing him a pale-skinned humanoid, stark black eyes, and a celestial hoop above his head.

Seeing that his body had turned into this strange shape should make anyone uncomfortable. However, Zark (or rather the person inside of him) felt completely indifferent. His inner self felt that this, Zark's body, was his true self, but there was another reason why he was so calm.

Like his appearance, it seemed that his mental faculties had also been affected.

In the first place, there were his emotions: the moment he experienced strong emotions, they progressively diminished until they calmed him down, it was almost as if something was repressing them. Another point was his lack of any kind of desire, be it hunger or sleep. At first it seemed to her that he had a certain sexual appetite, but even after touching Keil's silky hair, there was no additional drive since at that moment he had other priorities.

Zark believed that these changes were extremely helpful, particularly mental changes. Perhaps this was because being undead he was completely immune to mental effects, and being a Fey the human part of his mind had changed to make him less emotional.

While he kept his gaze in the mirror, a maid approached.

"My Lord, Lady Keil reported that the scouting unit is ready and awaiting your orders."

Glancing at the maid, Zark nodded and immediately headed to the nearest TP room.

Zark had previously ordered Keil along with some other Generals to prepare, since they, together with his person, would form a small scouting team.

He needed to get out of the castle and find out what was around him.

Thanks to Ingrid's report, he discovered that the castle was located in the center of a wooded valley surrounded by mountains.

This was a positive and a negative thing at the same time; being in the center of a valley in a mountain range, the mountains themselves blocked the view from a great distance from the castle; but these same mountains also blocked the view of the castle to the outside.

Since vision by non-magical means was blocked due to the mountains, he decided to organize a small contingent to explore.

After a few moments he arrived at the gardens located at the entrance of the castle, although a week had passed since his arrival in this world, he had not gone directly outside the castle walls, mainly because exploring the castle itself took him all that time. .

Near a fountain were three figures, these were Keil, Ingrid and Nyos.

The first to notice Zark's arrival was Ingrid, sitting on the edge of the fountain, she put aside the book that was in her hands and with a small run she jumped in the direction of Zark to receive him with a big hug. .

"Father" with a charming bright smile, Ingrid rubbed her cheek with Zark's robe.

Although the physical contact made Zark uncomfortable, it had been years since he had received a hug.

When was the last time?

Perhaps since before the death of his parents?

He had no answer to that question.

Corresponding Ingrid's embrace, Zark inadvertently in her bitter loneliness whispered "Thank you."

It seemed that the only one who had noticed this was Ingrid herself, since her reaction of "Eh" at the same time as she fixed her tender dark purple eyes gave her away.

"Something happens?"

Ingrid's question was direct, but Zark slyly decided not to answer by pushing Ingrid aside and continuing on his way to the source.

With a strong nudge to Nyos side by Keil, he woke up from his trance, as Nyos was fully focused on sharpening his needle-shaped sword.

Noticing Zark's presence (along with Keil's terrifying gaze), Nyos stood up quickly and as if he were an exemplary soldier he saluted his superior "Sir, General Nyos ready for his orders, sir!"

In an attempt not to discourage him, Zark decided to play along “General Nyos! Ready for the mission? "

With all his lung power, Nyos uttered "Sir, Yes, sir!"

"Perfect" Zark pronounced, then looked from him to Keil "Are you ready?"

Unlike Nyos who had her German officer outfit and Ingrid who owned her beautiful short skirt dress, Keil's outfit was completely different from the one seen previously.
