Amelia

Logan doesn’t bother to check if I’m following him before he storms out of the house. I can hear his heavy breathing even as he stomps down the stairs and gets in the car, slamming the door closed.

My knees wobble, heart hammers as I force myself out of the house, just in time to watch his car screech down the driveway. Of course, what did I expect - he wouldn’t wait for me, wouldn’t bother to drive me to the hospital. He never does.

So, the same as I’ve done what feels like a million times before, I start running.

By the time I reach the hospital, I feel like my heart is about to leap out of my body and I’m barely managing to catch my breath, leaning against the hallway door.

My father and Logan are already here, obviously, both of them stand at a half open door of one of the hospital rooms, glaring at me like I don’t belong here. And maybe, I really don’t.

Before I can catch my breath fully, my father stomps towards me. His large hand grabs my upper arm and squeezes it so painfully, tears well up in my eyes and I barely hold back the cry of pain that threatens to escape me.

“You,” he snarls in my face, tightening his grip and for a split second, I wonder if he’d be gentle, if he knew I’m pregnant. “It’s all your damn fault,” he hisses, pulling me out of my thoughts as he shakes me slightly to emphasize his words. “You neglected her, your own mother! She’s suffering because of you!”

I try to speak, but no words leave me, and even if they would, they’d be useless because that’s the moment when Logan decides to speak up. He doesn’t sound like a man, only an Alpha and a leader who’s trying to reason with his warrior. “She didn’t know, Ronan. Elenor didn’t want her to know.”

The words should soothe me, calm me down a little, but Logan’s mechanical tone does nothing of sorts.

“Even if she never told you how bad it got,” my father snarls low, “it’s still your fault. If it wasn’t for you, Katherine wouldn’t have left the pack and your own mother wouldn’t be dying of heartbreak in this hospital. Just fuckin’ look at you - Luna of the pack, the defective daughter stands in the place of the real Luna. Bet you’re enjoying this game of power, aren’t you?”

Cold dread washes over me as he finally releases his hold on me and spits in my face. My hand shakes as I wipe the saliva off my cheek, trying to convince myself that he’s not right. Ronan is lying, my own father is lying to my face just to see me suffer.

“She wants to see you,” Logan growls, his tone a warning.

I want to see her more than anything, but also, my legs don’t listen. Deep down, I know that the moment mom sees me, it’ll remind her of the daughter she cares about and lost because of me - Katherine.

Every time, it’s the same scenario. I go to see her, she’s happy for a split second because my sister and I are so similar, and then, mom remembers I’m Amelia and her gaze hardens with nothing but raw, pure hatred.

Since I married Logan, I’d been nothing but a disgrace to my family - the thief who stole my sister’s mate.

When this mess with mom’s health started, the Doctor said that her illness came from missing Katherine and ever since, I’ve lived with the weight of guilt that never faded, not even for a second.

Seeing that I don’t make a move to enter mom’s hospital room, Logan grabs my arm in the same area my father did, squeezes just as painfully and drags me inside.

My mom, Elenor Bennett, lies pale and still on the hospital bed. Each shallow breath sounds like a countdown. Guilt rises in my throat, thick and suffocating. I force my shaking legs forward, take her cold hand in mine, and whisper, “Mom… I’m here.”

Her eyelids flutter. A faint smile trembles on her lips.“Katherine… you’re finally back.”

Her fingers twitch, reaching for my face, but they fall away before they can touch me. Her eyes drift shut. Her head tilts to the side.

Panic surges through me and I frantically scream for doctors, begging for someone to help my mom. My father scolds me for being dramatic, while Logan steps behind me, and hisses in my ear, “calm down, you have an image to uphold, I’ll be damned if your childish tantrum wastes more of the doctor’s time than it already has.”

I attempt to reason with Logan and my father, but Logan only drags me out of the room and angrily growls at me in the hospital hall.

I lean against the wall, sobbing, waiting for the moment when the doctors will let us back in the room. After what feels like hours, one of the medics steps out and nods at Logan. “Alpha.”

Logan doesn’t bother to ask questions, he drags me back inside the room. I know she’s gone the moment I see my father on his knees, his body wrecking with sobs.

I drop to my own knees as the doctor clears his throat. “I’m sorry, Luna, your mother has left us.”

Now, I’ve truly lost the last thread of hope I still harbored in my heart. Mom is dead, which means Katherine will have to come back and there’s nothing I can do. I’m standing on the edge, about to lose everything I have.

Amelia“Amelia,” a soft voice whispers. “Amelia, wake up,” the same voice insists, a little louder. I blink my eyes open slowly and groan at the pain instantly pounding in my skull. I try to sit up, but fail, falling back on the ground just as I realize I’m bound, laying on a cold stone inside a dark cave. The last thing I remember is leaving the bedroom and heading to the nursery to check on Mira. I was near the door when there was this awful surge of pain in the back of my head and suddenly, everything turned black. “What the hell happened?” I whisper to myself, close my eyes and try to recall if I remember anything else. “I think I know who it was,” my wolf whispers and I realize it was her voice that woke me. “Who?” I ask without thinking, not caring if anyone could overhear me. “Right before you blacked out, I sensed Ethan’s presence. I’m pretty sure there was his scent too, but it was mixed with that disgusting rogue stench, so I didn’t realize it until it was too late,” s

  • Wrong Bride, True Luna   CHAPTER 199

LoganShock and fury wars inside me as Katherine’s words sink in. Ethan is still alive and somehow, he managed to sneak into my pack. The bastard probably heard about the wedding and used the joyful occasion to enter the territory under a disguise. My grip on Katherine’s throat tightens a little as my mind rushes with questions. “The poison. What do you know about it?” Katherine remains completely silent, so I ask the next question. “What is his plan? There has to be more, we all know Ethan is mad, but he won’t risk his life just to add a couple of drops of poison to a wine. What else is he planning to do?” She remains tight-lipped, glaring at me like I deserve all the hate in the world. Derrick appears next to me and nods at the maid, who hands him another glass with the wine since Katherine dropped the glass my mother gave her. Slowly, he removes my hand from her throat. “Thank you,” Katherine gasps, rubbing her neck, “I knew you’re still on my side. I knew you still see reason

  • Wrong Bride, True Luna   CHAPTER 198

LoganI watch the scene unfold completely dumbfounded, shocked to my core. The wedding guests exchange worried glances, so I set the glass back on the table and clear my throat, turning my attention to my mother. “Mom, what’s going on?” “You’ll see what’s going on soon enough,” she answers and glares at Amelia. “Drink it, Katherine. Prove to everyone you didn’t add anything to the wine.” I watch her and frown. She’s talking to Amelia and calling her Katherine… Mother has to be confused, after all, she’s still recovering from the poisoning. “Mom, there has to be a misunderstanding. You’re talking to Amelia, not Katherine,” I say loudly enough for my voice to carry over the voices of the guests. The maid mother waved over turns to me and bows slightly, “Alpha Logan, Luna Jane is right. The whole kitchen staff agrees this woman isn’t Luna Amelia. She would never command the maids so rudely and arrogantly, she’s too kind. Luna Amelia has never shown a nasty spirit.” “The appearance m

KatherineAs soon as I agree with his plan, Ethan snaps his fingers and a man appears next to him. My eyes follow his every movement as he accepts a bundle of keys and unlocks my cell, pulling the door wide open. Cautious, I step out and can’t help but glance in the direction of the cell next to mine. Right there, on the cold, damn ground, lies my father’s lifeless body. A cold shiver runs down my spine, bile rises up my throat and my knees buck under me, but I manage to stay upright. “Drop the dramatics,” Ethan hisses next to me. “We need to leave before the next shift guards arrive.” I nod and follow him blindly. Once outside, Ethan leads me to a storage shed not far away and forces a pile of clothes in my arms. “Change into these, don’t waste my time.” My entire body trembles as I hurry to wear the clothes he gives me. The entire situation is tense as it is, but Ethan makes it way worse by standing here, watching me change. He doesn’t even have the decency to turn his head awa

  • Wrong Bride, True Luna   CHAPTER 196

KatherineAfter my father and I are dragged to the dungeon, the guards force us into cells next to each other. The very men, who cowered before me just days ago, now look at me like I’m the scum of earth. I briefly consider trying to bribe them, but what do I have to offer anymore? It’s not power—that was stripped from me very publicly and it’s not like I hold any riches without Logan either. “I can’t believe you’re careless enough to let him find the evidence,” my father snarls from his cell. “I thought I taught you well, showed you how to cover your traces, but it turns out you never listened!” Frustration surges through me in a violent wave. How dare he accuse me of being careless if all along, I’ve been the only one who had to do the work while he sat back and watched. “It’s not only my fault,” I retort. “If only you would’ve killed Amelia when you had the chance, none of this would happen!” A loud, bitter echo against the walls, “of course, so typical of you to shift the bla

  • Wrong Bride, True Luna   CHAPTER 195

AmeliaThe moment the words leave Logan, Katherine screams in horror. Guards seize her and drag her away kicking and screaming, while to my surprise, Ronan just walks out with the guards without any fight, his head hung low. Once the door closes behind them, Logan addresses the crowd. “Amelia is my fated mate and the true Luna of Ravencrest,” he says with a smile and holds out his hand for me to approach him. The guests cheer as I walk to Logan and carefully slip my hand in his, still holding Mira. “And the baby in her arms,” Logan says loudly, then swallows the emotion to add, “that’s my son. My mate has given me the greatest gift an Alpha could dream of—an heir to our pack.” The crowd erupts in louder cheers, Alpha’s shouting, congratulating Logan and me, wishing our baby a future even royals would be envious of. While the ceremony hall fills with loud cheers and Logan beams at everyone like a man standing at the top of the world, his mother stands next to me, bringing a shaky h

I spend hours in that car, trapped between the bodies of two large guards, soothing my baby and silently praying the
