Chapter 9: Your Wife Has Ordered a Male Model

Herbert Leopold stared at his phone in disbelief. She—actually dared to—hang up on him?

Herbert Leopold was completely stunned. In the decade or so they had been together, it had always been his privilege to hang up first.

Veins bulged on Herbert Leopold's forehead as he fumed. What exactly had gone wrong?

There was something off about Juliet Shaw.

*Ring...*

Suddenly, Herbert Leopold's phone rang again.

A sneer curled his thin lips. She couldn't hold back, could she?

This game of playing hard to get, she never seemed to tire of it!

"Hello, where are you?" Herbert Leopold asked coldly.

"Huh? What's with you, A Ting? Bad mood?" The voice on the other end sounded teasing.

Herbert Leopold looked at the screen in surprise; it displayed "Qi Silǐ."

His face darkened even more.

"Something up?" Herbert Leopold asked after a brief pause, his voice icy.

Laughter could be heard from the other end of the line.

"We're at Nightshade. Guess who I saw?" Qi Silǐ said mysteriously.

"Not interested. Hanging up."

"Wait! We saw your wife. She even ordered a male model."

*Click...*

"Is A Ting coming?" Edward Douglas asked, sprawling lazily on the sofa.

"Don't know. He hung up on me right away."

Edward Douglas glanced at Alvin Boswell, who was intently watching a booth nearby. "Alvin, did A Ting's wife bite him today?"

Alvin Boswell turned his gaze back and looked at them, then said slowly, "I don't know who bit him."

"Trouble," Qi Silǐ slapped his thigh and spoke seriously to the two. "I thought I was the Casanova, but A Ting is already cheating. Our family values won't allow this."

Qi Silǐ's words left both Edward Douglas and Alvin Boswell speechless.

The Lu, Li, and Lin families were all prominent in J City, and their sons were all tall, handsome, and surrounded by girls. Apart from Qi Silǐ, who was a notorious playboy, they all kept themselves in check.

Herbert Leopold, in particular, was the only one among the four who showed no interest in women.

After all, no man could remain a virgin six months into marriage.

The four brothers knew well that Juliet Shaw had feelings for Herbert Leopold.

They had all advised Herbert Leopold that Juliet Shaw was a good girl, and her sincere pursuit shouldn't be wasted.

Herbert Leopold either scoffed or ignored them.

Over time, they stopped trying to persuade him.

"Actually, if Juliet Shaw finds someone new, I think it would be good," Qi Silǐ said after a moment, surprising them again.

Edward Douglas and Alvin Boswell remained silent.

Qi Silǐ continued, "We can't be selfish and make her love us pitifully forever."

He turned to look at Juliet Shaw. "Look, she's smiling so happily. Her little mouth curves, showing those neat white teeth. So pretty."

"Whose teeth are so pretty?"

A cold voice came from above Qi Silǐ.

Qi Silǐ looked up, surprised, then grinned. "Oh, so fast. Did you fly over here?"

Herbert Leopold's face was darker than ink, and he sat down next to Qi Silǐ.

He wanted to ask Qi Silǐ what he meant on the phone, but he couldn't bring himself to do it in front of his brothers.

Wouldn't that prove he was paying attention to that woman?

Herbert Leopold furrowed his brows fiercely.

Edward Douglas's lips twitched. "A Ting, having trouble with your wife lately?"

Herbert Leopold subconsciously touched his lips, which were now scabbed.

"Trouble with her? We keep our distance, like the Chu River and Han Boundary," he said indifferently.

A waiter approached and whispered something to Alvin Boswell, who then stood up. "Let's go, we have a table."

"What table?" Herbert Leopold asked.

Qi Silǐ, with his flirtatious eyes, smiled. "This one is too far. We found a VIP spot."

As they moved, Herbert Leopold caught sight of Juliet Shaw in the booth.

She was wearing a V-neck, sparkling black dress with a black suit over it, looking both sexy and commanding.

She picked up a bottle, tilting her head back, revealing her slender neck and a hint of fair, delicate skin.

The short man beside her was staring, transfixed.

As a man, Herbert Leopold instantly understood the other man's thoughts.

The man was barely 170 cm tall, with a buzz cut, a diamond earring in his left ear, and a silk blue suit, looking like a second-rate dandy.

For some reason, a fire ignited in Herbert Leopold's heart.

Even if Juliet Shaw couldn't win his affection, her taste shouldn't have dropped so drastically. This was an insult.

"A Ting, should we go say hello?" Alvin Boswell asked.

Herbert Leopold didn't reply, just gave him a glare.

Though they were brothers, at the Leopold Corporation, they were also superior and subordinate.

Herbert Leopold was using his authority to pressure Alvin Boswell.

Alvin Boswell raised an eyebrow, signaling that he wouldn't push it.

They took their seats at the new location, which was just one seat away from Juliet Shaw's booth.

They could clearly hear the conversation at her table.

Juliet Shaw's table had six people: herself, Natalie Charlotte, and four of Natalie Charlotte's clients and friends, both men and women.

"Teacher, you're so beautiful and talented. There must be many people chasing you, right?" a bespectacled, scholarly-looking man asked.

Juliet Shaw smiled, and Natalie Charlotte added, "Our Zhi got married."

"Oh? Teacher, you married young. No chance for us, huh?" the bespectacled man joked.

Juliet Shaw smiled, a hint of disappointment in her eyes. She took a sip of wine and said, "I'm a widow."

Natalie Charlotte froze, staring at Juliet Shaw in shock.

The bespectacled man and the others were taken aback, then quickly put on apologetic faces.

"I'm sorry, Teacher, I didn't know. Let me drink a whole bottle as punishment," the bespectacled man said, downing a bottle.

The others followed suit, drinking awkwardly.

Natalie Charlotte nudged Juliet Shaw, her face full of alarm. Hadn't she heard anything about the Young Master Lu?

Was her sister daring to joke about that man?

Juliet Shaw looked at her, and Natalie Charlotte mouthed, "What's going on?" Juliet Shaw just smiled faintly, saying nothing.

On Herbert Leopold's side, chaos erupted.

"Widow?" Qi Silǐ examined Herbert Leopold. "Aren't we all fine here?"

As Qi Silǐ reached out to touch Herbert Leopold's face, he slapped his hand away.

"Ouch, such force. Don't take your anger out on your brother," Qi Silǐ whined.

"No need for this. Everyone dies, sooner or later. I'm still young, with a better life ahead," Juliet Shaw said, raising her wine bottle.

True to her reputation, Teacher had a way with words.

Natalie Charlotte's lips twitched. Her sister was definitely in trouble. No need to ask, just drink, and let her drink her sorrows away.

The bespectacled man and the others also raised their bottles. "Right, right. A woman as excellent as Teacher, if you want, the men pursuing you could circle the moon twice."

"Why not the Earth?" Juliet Shaw asked, smiling.

Everyone laughed. "The Earth, the Earth."

"Cheers!"

Meanwhile, a certain Mr. Boswell on Earth was ready to flip the table.

Herbert Leopold, despite his self-control, was about to explode. He suddenly stood up, and his three brothers followed.

"A Ting, calm down. You don't care for Juliet Shaw anyway. If she's seeing someone else, isn't it the perfect chance to divorce her?"

Herbert Leopold glared at Qi Silǐ, looking ready to eat him alive.

Qi Silǐ spread his hands, looking innocent. "Am I wrong?"
