Chapter 1

Celine Anderson held my hand tightly and asked sorrowfully, "Evelyn, you went through so much to give birth to this child. Are you really going to leave?"David is just too young to understand what it means to cherish someone. Give him another chance. He'll come around and devote himself to you."Just then, a few werewolves passed by my small cottage as they discussed the secret party that was going to happen at the castle that night."Do you guys know that Alpha David planned the secret party at the castle tonight just for Sarah? It's to celebrate him rescuing her from the Wildrift Pack's Alpha!""Sarah's wearing the gown and necklace Alpha David specially gifted her. She looks like a princess—the true lady of the castle!""I thought that Alpha David was a notorious flirt who was always surrounded by different women. Why is he so devoted to Sarah?""You clearly haven't been paying attention! I saw bite marks on Sarah's neck at the party. I asked her outright if she was Alpha Dav

Chapter 2

After deciding to leave, I didn't feel as sad as I had thought that I would.Maybe out of guilt, David suddenly showed up two days later, saying that he had come to take me back to the castle. He even brought my favorite dish—cream of mushroom soup.It was the first time he had ever taken the initiative to show me kindness. For seven years, no matter how impatient or cruel he was to me, I would eagerly rush back to his side as long as he offered me the slightest bit of warmth. But this time, I didn't even open the door.Outside, David was fuming with the bowl of soup in his hands."Did you run away for days and abandon your own child just because I made you kneel and apologize for Sarah?"Hah! You've grown some nerve, haven't you, Evelyn? Don't regret this!"That very night, he moved Sarah into the castle. The next time I saw him was three days later when I returned to pack the few belongings I had left. When I saw Sarah Lloyd acting as the lady of the house, I felt nothing.

Chapter 3

While David was busy tending to his beloved Sarah's wounds, I hastily treated my own before continuing to pack my things.I first needed to take down the oil painting hanging in the center of the bedroom. It was the one of me and David.I had commissioned it in a moment of joy when David agreed to be my mate. But the David in the painting was much softer than the real one. Back then, he had sat before the easel, visibly impatient and eager to leave. Ultimately, he couldn't even be bothered to wait until it was finished, so he simply turned and walked away. The painting had only been completed based on my descriptions and the artist's faint impressions.David had never liked it. He frowned at it daily, telling me to take it down.Later, when he stopped coming into this bedroom altogether, he no longer cared enough to say anything about it."You loved that painting, didn't you? Why are you taking it down now?"I hadn't noticed when he arrived, but there he was, leaning against th

"Alpha David, I-I don't know either. When I asked her, Mrs. Jones just smiled quietly," the maid answered, her expression troubled. But David let out a breath of relief and smirked. "It looks like she's just throwing a tantrum this time."Don't worry about her. Where else could she go without me? She's probably hiding out in that shabby little wooden cabin, waiting for me to come and coax her."Let her wait a little longer. Otherwise, she'll think that I can't live without her."Lying undressed on the bed, Sarah swayed her hips and pressed herself against David again."Exactly! David, you're so perfect and charming. There are plenty of female werewolves who adore you! Why can't Evelyn appreciate what she has? She always gets upset over the most trivial things."Is a mate who throws fits all the time really suited to be your Luna?"She glanced up at David, trying to gauge his reaction. But he looked distracted, completely missing the implication in her words.Indeed, I used to

Sarah nodded in agreement. Fake tears streamed down her face as she hid behind David.David didn't react much. He simply took a step closer to me. He let out a scoff as if holding back his anger. "You really did something like this? Is this why you're running away?"I didn't understand. I was leaving anyway. So, what was the point of this whole act they were putting on together? Was it just to humiliate me one last time?At my silence, David grew even more irritated. He gripped my chin tightly and forced me to look at him. "Answer me! Is this why you're trying to leave?"The she-wolves around us sneered."She wouldn't dare admit it! The whole pack knows you love Sarah. Sarah is the true future Luna. It must be embarrassing to spread such ridiculous lies only to get exposed and caught! I'd keep my mouth shut too if I were her!"No one had ever believed that I was David's mate because of his deliberate concealment. Even when I drove away the other she-wolves around him, they only

Chapter 6

The news of my fall from the cliff spread throughout the entire Nighthowl Pack.Sarah wiped away her fake tears, happily ordering the maids to move her belongings into the castle one item after another. But David threw each one back out, his eyes red with rage."Get out!"The only lady of my castle is Evelyn!"Only then did all the werewolves realize that I was David's mate all along. After driving Sarah away, he staggered back into my bedroom, muttering under his breath, "Don't worry, Evelyn… If you don't come back, no one else will ever step foot in here… I will find you. I swear… I will bring you back…"Everyone knew that I was dead.Only he refused to believe it.He locked himself in my bedroom and drowned himself in alcohol. He endlessly tried to piece together the fragments of my torn portrait.Every time he managed to put it back together, he would stare at the irreparable cracks, then collapse onto the floor and start sobbing uncontrollably.Celine was worried for hi

Chapter 7

Even so, I believed that David's flirtations were just a way to provoke and torment me.I thought that my love would somehow soften the heart of the man who despised me.That is, until I got pregnant. The day David found out, his expression turned dark. He ordered me to drink an herbal potion to abort the child. When I refused, he forced me."Evelyn, what right do you have to carry my child? Stop clinging to my family. Once you get rid of it, get the hell out of Nighthowl Pack!"It was Celine who barged in and stopped him. That was the first time I seriously thought about leaving. But Celine begged me in tears. She told me that David was her only child and pleaded with me to give him and the baby in my womb one last chance. I wavered because of the child. But David was filled with resentment toward me and made a show of openly flaunting his new lover, Sarah. He spoiled and protected her in public, all just to hurt me.I never imagined that he would force me to my knees becau

Chapter 8

I stayed in Wildrift Pack and became an herbal healer just like my parents. The werewolves of Wildrift Pack were actually very kind. They were indeed fierce, but they were also simple and pure-hearted. They welcomed an outsider like me without hesitation. They even respectfully called me "Dr. Evelyn".It was as if I had been given a second life. I became cheerful and full of laughter. I had completely changed.Alan was also way different from before. He no longer seemed as shy when he was around me.When others teased him, saying that a 23-year-old Alpha should have already found a mate, he no longer blushed. Instead, he lowered his head silently. He simply stayed silent and looked at me.He would find every excuse to follow me during his free time, accompanying me to the cliffs to gather herbs. He seemed to be able to speak normally even when he made up excuses now, unlike before."The cliffs are dangerous. I'm afraid that you might fall again."Then, he finally admitted the

Chapter 9

The commotion inside the house alarmed the entire Wildrift Pack.Alan led a group of werewolves and burst in just in time. "Evelyn, don't be afraid! I'm here to save you!"As expected of the most skilled warriors, Alan, their Alpha, effortlessly tore David off me and threw him aside. The werewolves closed in on David as he coughed up blood, but they stepped aside for the child, recognizing him as my son. They even patiently comforted the crying boy.Alan gently picked me up and removed his coat to cover my exposed skin, exposing his muscular torso in full view.Seeing this, David suddenly burst into laughter. "Evelyn! You blamed me for cheating! But aren't you doing the same thing now?"No wonder you would rather die than stay with me! So this is it. You've fallen for someone else, and that's why you refuse to be my Luna!"He suddenly broke into sobs as he laughed. "When did it start between you two? Was it when I forced you to apologize to him?"Alan shot him a disdainful gla
