Lahat ng Kabanata ng Broken Hands, Broken Home: My Family's Sentence: Kabanata 1 - Kabanata 8

When I was kidnapped by my parents' enemy, Bruce Cohen, he had arrogantly started a livestream of it for the whole Internet to see.Twelve hours had passed, and all my fingers had been chopped off except for one.The comment section was in a frenzy."I can't take it anymore! She's screaming so miserably!""Didn't they say if the parents contacted them, they'd release her? Where are the parents?""Is she even their biological daughter?"Bruce also grew impatient with waiting, and finally, he tore off the tape from my mouth.I was just about to explain that, as my parents were in the special forces and often went on dangerous missions, they had no way of doing what he wanted.Just then, I received a vacation photo from the adopted daughter, Evonne Watson."Penelope, I've landed in Hashford with Mom and Dad!""Mom and Dad said you would spoil the mood if you came, so they want to celebrate my 18th birthday with just me."In the photo, my parents embraced Evonne on each side, th

Evonne hadn't left the country? Then what about my parents and the rest of my family? If they were still in the country, how could they not have seen the livestream? How could they not have saved me?I ignored the nearby Bruce and desperately crawled on the ground, looking for my phone. I used my broken finger to open the photo of Hashford that Evonne had sent me.I zoomed in, then zoomed in again. It was then that I clearly saw the buildings in the picture. It wasn't Hashford at all. This was clearly the beach in our city!I heard Bruce mockingly laugh behind me. "Your parents never went abroad. They're just hiding like cowards! They don't want to save you at all!"At that moment, the last string of sanity in my mind snapped. This terrifying truth was something I didn't dare think about, not even for a second.I crawled over and grabbed the phone that was livestreaming. With my face marred with blood and tears, I heartwrenchingly screamed into the screen, "Dad, Mom, it's Penel

Five minutes later, the phones in the pockets of the medical staff giving me first aid started ringing one after another. One of the medics packing up the equipment took out his phone and glanced at it. His attention was instantly caught by the forwarded headline, and his expression drastically shifted. He ignored the work at hand and opened the video, and from the video came the heartwrenching screams of a girl."It hurts so much! Why are you doing this to me? What did I do wrong? I really don't know anything about my parents! Please stop torturing me…"The more the girl cried, the more desperate she became. Finally, she begged, "Why don't you just kill me? It hurts too much. I've lost all ten of my fingers, and it's not worth living anymore… Let me die…"The medical staff bandaging me couldn't bear it anymore and shouted, "Enough! Stop playing it! This child has already been through so much. Playing this is like making her go through the pain all over again…"The medic trembl

The smiles on my parents' faces fell.Evonne, who had just been saying she would rather die than let them be harmed, subtly took a step back and put some distance between them.Dad turned pale, and he unconsciously wiped away the cold sweat from his forehead. "Sir, there must be some mistake… Weren't all the kidnappers eliminated?"Peter replied with a dark expression, "You know exactly what I'm talking about!"Mom also panicked and muttered, "How could this be? There must be some mistake…"They didn't realize that their flustered appearance was practically an admission of guilt."You really won't admit it until you see it with your own eyes, huh?" Peter yelled.Peter had finally reached his limit. He pulled up the video and shoved it in front of my parents' faces. All members of the special forces heard the little girl's agonized screams and bitter questioning. Everyone glared at my parents with red-rimmed eyes. If not for discipline, these righteous and passionate men would
