Chapter 1

After getting my boss' reply, I slumped against the wall, drained of all energy.Henry Somerset's voice echoed in my ears again. "Stop kissing me. If Chris runs into us later, you'll be in trouble."Oh, right, he still doesn't know you gave me the draft designs of dress and suit he made for his own wedding. I showed him the finished design, and he actually thought we just had the same taste. What a joke! He's so naive, it's almost hilarious."My face turned pale instantly.I had been with Jenna Rogers for six years. Everyone in her social circle knew me.They all knew I didn't care about fame or money. My only hope was that Jenna could have a bright future.Once, she promised me she'd give me a grand wedding.I was so happy that I stayed up night after night designing our wedding outfits myself, revising them again and again until I finalized the last version. But a while back, the drafts suddenly disappeared. I tore the place apart looking for them, but I found nothing.Jen

Chapter 2

After saying that, I turned around and walked away.Behind me, Henry shouted smugly, "So what if you were together for years? Being able to get a woman to marry you—that’s what really counts. She’s my wife now. You’d better stay away from her!"I didn't slow down. I straightened my back and forced myself to stay calm as I went home.Jenna got there before me. When she saw me come in, she immediately smiled and opened her arms like she always did."Honey, you're home."I instinctively stepped aside. Her arms froze in midair, surprise flashing across her face.I glanced at the skirt she was wearing. It wasn't the one she had worn when she left that morning."Looks like you changed your skirt."The confusion in Jenna's eyes instantly turned into guilt. She smiled and explained, "I spilled coffee on myself today, so my assistant helped me change. Once it's cleaned, I'll bring it back and keep it properly. You designed that dress for me yourself."Was it really coffee? Or was it ru

Chapter 3

"You don't have to tell them anything. Consider it a special surprise from me as a friend."After everything was arranged, I received another message from Henry. He sent me an address and taunted me.[Tomorrow, I'm rehearsing the wedding with my wife. I've got a gift for you tonight. The question is, do you dare to come get it?]I hesitated for only a few seconds before deciding to go alone. The moment I stepped into the bar, I ran into one of Jenna's close friends. She was drunk, leaning against the door outside a private room, and catching her breath. She squinted at me and grinned."Why do you look so much like Jenna's boyfriend? No way. I'm not seeing things, am I?"She laughed again."Jenna's really something! She's about to get married and is still acting like this. Isn't she worried about messing it up? We don't dare say anything in case we let it slip out."I stared at her slumped figure by the door. My heart sank.So everyone knew.Everyone knew she was marrying He

Chapter 4

I watched as they cried, overwhelmed with emotion, and kissed without restraint. At that moment, my eyes welled with tears. I lowered my head and rubbed at my eyes to ease the sting.A staff member beside me seemed to find someone to talk to and said excitedly, "Isn't it incredibly touching? I never thought there'd be real love in a wealthy family. They must truly love each other. You can't fake that kind of look in someone's eyes."I forced a smile. "Yeah. They must really love each other."Jenna seemed to sense something and suddenly looked in my direction.Instinctively, I lowered the brim of my hat and dropped my gaze.Henry followed her line of sight. A smug smile appeared on his face. "What is it, Jenna? Did you see someone you know?"She paused for a second before shaking her head. "No. I must've been mistaken."I lifted my head again and looked at their wedding attire. "Guess that dream came true after all," I murmured.Although the man wearing the groom's suit and g

The officiant hinted again and again for Jenna to speak, but she stood there pale-faced, staring at the video the courier had shown her.Her legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the stage, yet she still clutched the card tightly and was unwilling to let go.The guests below sensed something was wrong. Murmurs and whispers spread through the room.Henry couldn't keep up appearances anymore. He walked over and tried to pull Jenna up. His voice filled with irritation."What's wrong with you? You have to finish this wedding with me today, no matter what."As if realizing something, Henry glanced guiltily at the bouquet in her hands and reached out, trying to snatch it away and toss it aside. But the moment his hand moved, Jenna slapped it away hard. She even shoved him. After catching the guilty look in his eyes in that split second, she demanded viciously, "Didn't I warn you?! I told you not to say anything to him! Are you out of your mind?"Her voice was so loud that it carried

Chapter 6

Jenna didn't say anything because she knew herself that it was all nonsense.Jenna opened her mouth in despair, but all she managed to say was, "I didn't get married."So what? Did that mean she deserved forgiveness? Wasn't that far too easy? At least for me, compromise had never been an option. The more I listened, the more disappointed I felt. Jenna seemed like a stranger standing in front of me.I remembered Jenna from before, the one who once stumbled upon a lawn wedding, rushed home in excitement, and threw herself into my arms. She said she felt happiness spreading through her. She said she wanted to walk through life with me. She said she wanted only me.But people changed.Maybe those promises were real when she said them, but their expiration date was as brief and sudden as a spark flashing out in the dark.Jenna still stood there and refused to leave. To her, not getting married was like a get-out-of-jail-free card.I retrieved my phone and opened my chat histor

Chapter 7

"Don't worry. You're still the one I like the most."I jumped to my feet, replayed the recording, then laughed and cried at the same time. It all felt so absurd. So, everything Jenna had so carefully planned was nothing but a lie.By then, I was already exhausted.People who make mistakes should face the consequences. From the moment Jenna chose to betray me, I stopped interfering in anything that followed.I forced myself to let go for over three days. This final 'gift' just arrived late.Watching Jenna leave in a hurry, my friend looked at me and gave me a thumbs-up."Honestly, you're impressive. Be real with me. Do you have even a tiny thought of getting back together with her? I'd hate it if you turned out to be one of those hopeless romantics."I shook my head and answered without hesitation. "I have no intention of getting back together with her. None at all."By my count, after the wedding fiasco, Henry was bound to make a move soon.It was destined to end in mutual de

Chapter 8

My senior panicked immediately and pulled out a tissue before reaching for my face. Before I could even refuse, she was suddenly punched hard in the face.Jenna had appeared out of nowhere. After knocking my senior to the ground, she turned to me in a panic."Did she try to seduce you? Was she setting you up? Don't be scared! I'm here."I didn't even have time to think about Jenna. I rushed to help my senior up, repeating an apology over and over."You don't need to apologize. What happened back then was a transaction we both agreed to. It wasn't an insult. If anything, thank you for still remembering it."She inhaled deeply and waved it off while saying she was fine. When Jenna tried to step forward again, I instinctively moved in front of my senior. I frowned at her, who was visibly thinner. She seemed anxious."Why are you here?" I asked coldly.Jenna looked up at me and said softly, "I applied for permission to come see you from another city. I waited a long time. They on

Chapter 9

"You're not regretful. You just lost the bet. You were too arrogant. "You thought everything was under your control. When you fell flat and couldn't get back up, you turned around and tried to crawl back to me because you thought I was someone you could still control. "But what's wrong is wrong. Why would you think that after everything you did, you'd still deserve another chance?"Jenna lowered her head. She couldn't look at me. She just kept shaking her head."Do you have any idea how I feel when I see you? I feel like all the love I gave you was worthless. Even so, you just kept wanting more."After that, I walked past her. With those words, all the resentment I'd been holding in finally poured out.I didn't know what Jenna thought afterward. For a long time after that, she showed up at my company every day with a bouquet of flowers and waited downstairs. When I was buried in design work and forgot to eat, she'd cook meals herself and leave them with the security desk.
