“Daddy? Daddy!” The soft voice of a child slowly pulled Dex out of sleep. He opened his eyes and was immediately met with a bright light that made him flinch and squint his eyes. It was too close, sharp, and almost blinding. He turned his face away with a low sound of discomfort, still half-caught between sleep and waking.
