001 The Annoying Stranger.

~KELSIE~"What in the freaking world!"I slammed the brakes on my Harley so hard that the tires screeched on the asphalt— almost throwing me off— before finally pulling to a halt, a second away from slamming into the bike in front of me, whose rider was clearly blind.I squinted through my visor as a result of the sun, my face filling with disgust at this guy who clearly had a death wish. I mean, he was riding down, coming straight at me with full-on speed. I thought he would swerve when he probably realized he was heading into full-on slamming mode. But did he?No way in hell.I had to be the one to pull the brakes, amid a slightly shaken body and adrenaline pumping through me.What the heck just happened?Without wasting time, I pulled my helmet off and he took that opportunity to pull off his shoulder-length raven-black hair spilling out of the helmet like a lover's secret. The sun rays grazed his face just as he pressed his hair back to stay in order. And something about that acti

002 Surprise Package.

~KELSIE~I was thankful for Kendra's call, which arrived in the nick of time, putting an end to my zoned-out state."Dad wants you in the Red Room right away. What's still holding you?" That was enough to kick me onto my bike and get me riding down the red room, still reeling from the encounter with that annoying stranger, and my near-death experience. As I pulled over at the parking space in the Red Room, my mind wrestled with the last words of the stranger. Who was he? And what did he mean by, "see you in a few hours?" I knew every member of the Vipers, so that meant he wasn't one of us. "And we don't have any new intakes recently." I reckoned as I removed my helmet before getting off the bikeAnd don't get me started about his sketchy attitude and complete disregard for personal space. I snorted as I strutted towards the entrance. The ride wasn't as smooth as it started to be. And from the cheering from other bikers, hailing Norah, I'd missed the race I intended to join immedi

003 An Out— The Race.

~KELSIE~Different emotions swirled inside of me; anger, frustration, shock, you name it. But I didn't want to pay attention to any of them, not now. I needed to address this. The Red Room suddenly took a spinning turn, but I forced myself to keep calm."There's no way this is happening, Dad. He's..." "The only person capable of keeping you in check?" He arched his brows, and my murderous gaze heightened. "That's right." It took all of my resolve not to scream into his face. Instead, I swiveled to face my Dad. He's the only one I had business with."I don't want this, Dad. I can handle the Red Room by myself. I don't need him.""Trust me, you do, Elsie." Kendra chipped in, adding to the fiery furnace brewing in the pit of my stomach. My gaze darkened. "You're supposed to be on my side."She let out a smile. "That's why I suggest you accept him. With Dad being gone often, some of the guys might try to challenge your authority...""Seeing as you're so small, un-intimidating and all...

004 The Face-off.

~KELSIE~I woke up with an angry feeling buried deep in my chest. And it had nothing to do with the statistics quiz I had this morning— despite my hatred for mathematics.I couldn't quite get over the fact that I lost to him. Freaking lost to him!Oh! My pride! But if it was only that, my body wouldn't be vibrating as I slammed the locker shut. It was mostly the fact that in my assurance that I was going to beat him, I accepted his condition of being a biker prince if he ended up winning. Now, I felt like a sore loser, the pangs gnawing at my chest like a heavy downpour on a stormy day. Just like pains prickled my knees where I had scratched on the asphalt.Good thing I was the only one aware of that injury. It was a desperate move to get ahead of me as I surged through the bend that would bust into the finishing line. Only that I couldn't get past him, no matter how much I tried, that injury would have been worth it."God, Kels..." I muttered amid fuming. This day would certainly n

005 "You Owe Me..."

~KELSIE~My Harley beeped as soon as I inserted the key into the ignition, trying not to remember how his face hovered close to me a few hours ago and how his gaze lingered on my lips as though he was considering taking it.With a shrug, I willed myself to push back the events of a few minutes ago and climbed on my bike. Sorrel had requested we meet at the rack, and even though it wasn't typically my hangout place, I had to indulge her. Anything to get my thoughts off those penetrating sapphire eyes.Weirdly enough, I should be thinking of my near-death experience at the end of Jade a few minutes ago, not Lancelot's fucking piercing sapphire eyes and his undeniably handsome face.Yeah...I learned his name. It was weird that Jade knew it. He fucking called it, but looked surprised at his intervention. Frankly, I still was. I had already accepted whatever outcome would surface. I wasn't about to accept defeat twice in two days. It would be a blow to my biker pride. Inwardly, I was g

006 Attention.

~KELSIE~I wasn't aware that I was still strapped in his arms— my hands around his nape—till he was lowering me to the passenger seat of a car. Another shocking realization: he was carrying a car, not his big Harley. Sorrel's grunt as she settled in the backseat filtered through my ears and I looked over to the rearview mirror."Are you okay?" I asked, surprised that my voice quivered a little. Sorrel found my gaze in the rearview mirror and nodded softly in a half smile."Yeah, what about you?" I nodded in response, right before I felt more than saw Lancelot settle in the driver's seat. His commanding presence was kinda assuring. It reminded me that I was safe now. And his exquisitely broad frame pressed against the seat he fumbled with the keys. His long fingers—"Shame on you, Kels." I mocked mentally. "You were a breath away from being raped and you're ogling another guy's frame and fingers—""You okay, Red?" His raspy voice invaded my thoughts. I shivered, not knowing whether

007 Affectionate.

~KELSIE~"Because I wanted to get your attention..." I replayed the words in my head, wondering if he meant it in the romantic aspect or not. But the former seemed unlikely because all he did from that moment on was try to get on my nerves. What kind of attention seeking was that?"That's why you wanted to send me to my early grave?" The question tumbled out of my lips before I could stop myself. I was no longer in control of my thoughts, not when those sapphire eyes gazed at me with that tender glint dancing in them. Hell, it was surprising to see that part of him; saving me and treating me like some fragile being.A soft laugh escaped his lips at my question, reminding me that he was still crouched in front of me with his hand cupping my cheek.Wait...The realization hit me like waves. He was still cupping my cheek and staring at me like that. Was I imagining things, or was Lancelot interested in me?I gave a vigorous mental shake of my head. 'No, Kelsie. He's just giving you att
