Chapter 1

Every breath was a shard of glass in my throat. My ribs were broken.Bloody foam frothed at my lips, staining the white marble crimson."Can't you just be quiet? Do you want to drive her insane?" My father, Victor, roared so loud the whole mansion seemed to shake.I wanted to tell him it was an accident, but my throat was full of blood. I couldn't make a sound.By the shattered glass table, my sister, Chloe, was curled into a ball, hands clamped over her ears, letting out a piercing scream."She did it on purpose! She wants to kill me! Get her away from me! Get her away!"My mother, Elena, knelt in front of her, tending to the shallow cut on her arm and cooing."It's okay, baby, it's okay. Mommy's here. She won't bother you again."I tried to lift a hand, to ask for help. But more blood foamed at my lips. Darkness was closing in.“Dad… Mom…” My voice was barely a whisper. No one looked back.My vision was blurring.Their world had shrunk to my sister, trembling by the broken table. My

Chapter 2

I remembered last month's family dinner. A formal affair. I was in a white dress, a ghost in the corner. But the daughters of a rival family found me anyway."Well, look what we have here. The invisible princess." Isabella Rosetti blocked my path, a cruel smirk on her lips. Two other girls, both my rivals from the ballet academy, flanked her."I hear you stole my spot at the Royal," Isabella’s voice was pure venom, coated in honey. "You really think you're good enough?"They shoved me into a dressing room and locked the door."You think you're so special?" Anna took out a small pair of scissors and started snipping at my dress. "Your own parents don't even care about you."I tried to fight, but there were too many of them."Please, don't," my voice shook. "You can have the spot. I'll give it to you.""Too late for that," Isabella said, grinding her sharp heel into my toes. "You should've learned your place sooner."Blood seeped through my white stockings. But I bit back the scream. I c

My soul drifted like a feather in the air, watching the mansion shrink behind me.I felt like a ghost who didn't belong. In the corner of the staircase, my phone was still blinking with unread messages.Cassio's name was on the screen."Sera, Natalie Portman is in Swan Lake tonight at Lincoln Center. I know she's your favorite dancer. Why aren't you here?""Show's about to start. I'm in the VIP box. Waiting for you.""Are you okay?"I stared at the messages, a bitter feeling washing over me.Cassio Romano. Heir to our rival Romano family. He was handsome, elegant, and the only man who saw me. He'd spent two years trying to get my attention. He knew I loved ballet. He was always inviting me to shows. But I never dared to say yes.First, because of our families. Second, because I was terrified my sister would find out and have a meltdown."If you ever go out with those bad men, I'll jump from the balcony!" Chloe had shrieked at me once.So I turned Cassio down, time and time again, missi

Victor’s phone slipped from his trembling hands. It shattered on the tile floor."There was blood everywhere..." he mumbled. The words made no sense.Elena rushed out of the ward. She grabbed his arm. "Victor, what is it? What about three hours?""Sera's dead," Victor rasped. The color drained from Elena’s face."No! That's impossible! It was just a fall!" Elena shook her head frantically. "She's so young. So strong. How is this possible?"They stumbled toward the elevator. They left Chloe behind. They forgot everything. My soul followed them, watching my panic-stricken parents. The irony. Only after I died did they finally give a damn about me.The car sped through the night. The driver floored the gas.Victor clenched his fists, veins popping on his forehead. "I hit her... It was me..."Elena shrieked. "No! You had to save Chloe! It was an accident!"The Family's most trusted men sealed the grand hall. The old butler stood grimly at the foot of the spiral staircase."Sir, Madam." Hi

Chapter 5

The words pierced his chest like a knife. He dropped to his knees, letting out a raw, agonizing roar.Footsteps approached. It was Dr. Grayson, the family's most trusted physician. He walked into the study, his face dead serious, holding a thick manila folder."Victor. There are things you need to see."The old doctor slammed the folder onto the desk without hesitation. A stack of photos and X-rays slid out."What are these?" Victor asked, his eyes bloodshot."Sera’s suffering didn't start today," Dr. Grayson said. His voice was ice. "These are medical records I took for her privately."Victor gasped at the first photo. It was Sera's mangled toes. The nails were completely ripped off, the flesh swollen beyond recognition."Severe crush fractures in the toes," the doctor pointed at the X-rays. "This is from three months ago. Caused by repeated stomping from high heels."Victor grew paler by the second.More photos were spread out. Bruises on her arms. Soft tissue damage around her ribs.

Chapter 6

"Her depression was just starting to improve with treatment." Dr. Grayson turned to the last page of the file. "The weekly therapy gave her a tiny spark of hope to keep living."Victor looked at him in a daze. "Wait. Wasn't Chloe the one with the psychological issues? She needed regular treatment since she was a kid..."Dr. Grayson cut him off coldly. "You're mistaken, Victor. Chloe refused every neurological exam we ever scheduled."He opened another file. Sera's name was printed clearly on the tab."The one secretly coming for weekly therapy was your eldest daughter."Victor's world came crashing down."No... that's impossible..." he muttered. "Chloe is autistic. She needs treatment...""Your youngest never cooperated with any medical tests," the doctor said flatly. "It was Miss Sera who begged for my help when she was completely desperate. She pleaded with me to pull her out of the dark."Elena's face was ashen. She had to lean against the wall just to stay standing.Just then, Marc

Chapter 7

The Dons examined the vial, their expressions growing grim.Chloe clung to Victor, tears streaming down her face."Daddy, I really didn't want to bring this up..." her voice shook. "But Sera always acted so high and mighty. Deep down, she wished I was dead."Victor looked at his frail daughter, and the guilt planted by the diary and medical records began to fade. The guilt of killing his own daughter was unbearable. So his mind desperately needed a villain. Believing Sera was a monster was easier than facing the truth. It was his only escape.Standing nearby, Elena grabbed onto the same lifeline. She actively blocked out the horrifying photos the old doctor had slammed on the desk. She turned back to her youngest daughter with a look of sheer pity.Over the next few days, the poison of Chloe's lies spread through the Five Families.Sitting in a wheelchair in a pristine white hospital gown, she spun tearful lie after lie to the heirs and socialites who came to visit."Sera was always je

Chapter 8

My spirit finally saw the ugly truth. My sister never had sensory overload. She just got off on playing the victim to control the family.Every "episode" was a calculated performance. Every scream was a tool to manipulate everyone around her.My funeral was held three days later. The Gothic manor hall was set up grim and solemn, the massive crystal chandelier casting a dim, yellow glow.Every major mafia family sent someone to pay their respects—including the very girls who used to bully me.Isabella Rosetti, dressed in black Chanel, whispered with a few other socialites."I heard she tried to poison her sister at the end. Bitch got what she deserved.""Good riddance. World's better off without psychos like her.""Poor Chloe. If she knew her sister was so toxic, she should've just outed her from the start."My soul hovered right above them, taking in every vile word. The irony. The real monster was standing right in front of my casket in a black dress, "crying her eyes out."Chloe's pe

Cassio whipped around, pointing the gun straight at Chloe's heart."Hallucinogens?" His laugh dripped with sarcasm. "Are you sure you want to keep playing this game?"Chloe took a step back, ghostly white. "I... I'm not lying! The lab report proves it!""Then explain this." Cassio pulled a receipt from his suit jacket and slapped it right across her face. "This is a receipt from the black market," he snarled. "I hacked their network myself."It was a transaction slip from a black-market dealer. The buyer’s name was crystal clear: Chloe Castellano. The item: Industrial-grade hallucinogens. Enough to drive someone permanently insane. The date: The day before the accident. She had planned to use it to frame Sera all along. The falling vase of white roses just gave her the perfect excuse to kick off the show early!A collective gasp echoed through the room."No!" Chloe shook her head frantically. "It’s a fake! Someone is setting me up!"Just then, Marco, the head of security, rushed into t

Chapter 10

Her shrieks echoed through the hall. The mask was gone. The monster was finally revealed."Trash?" Victor was shaking. It was like he was looking at his daughter for the first time. "You called your sister a piece of trash?""Wasn't she?" Chloe tore off her mask completely, a crazed glint in her eyes. "She was always just an extra! Without her, all your love would belong to me!"Hearing that, Elena snapped. She stood up, trembling, and slapped Chloe hard across the face."You monster!" Elena screamed at the top of her lungs. "Sera was your own sister! She gave up everything for you!"Chloe clutched her burning cheek. There was no remorse in her eyes, only sheer spite."Gave up?" she sneered. "She never deserved any of it in the first place! I didn't push her down those stairs. Dad knocked her down himself!"That line shattered Victor's last shred of sanity. He lunged and wrapped both hands around Chloe’s throat, his eyes flashing blood-red."You animal! How did I raise such a monster!"
