Chapter 1

Today was supposed to be my bonding ceremony with Felix.I stood at the altar, watching him in his black formal wear. His gaze was drifting. Not really on me.He opened his mouth to speak, and his phone buzzed violently in his pocket.I knew his number was impossible to reach for most people. Except Willow Perkins.Willow's brother Hugo was Felix's best friend. After Hugo died saving Felix, Felix took Willow in. Took care of her himself. Down to the smallest detail. And sure enough, the second that ringtone hit, Felix's brow snapped tight. He didn't even glance at me. Just pulled out his phone.Willow's name flashed on the screen. He answered. The voice on the other end came through clear, thick with tears."Felix, I'm hurt. My leg hurts so bad, there's so much blood. Please, you have to come save me."The moment he heard she was injured, his face went white. Not a second of hesitation. He shoved the Moonstone token, the one meant for my finger, back into his pocket. His voice came out

The next day, I went to Frost Pack's financial office as usual to review the accounts. Felix didn't know my real identity. To him, I was just an accountant. When I got to the southern mining district's books, a transfer of twenty million caught my eye."Who authorized this?" I pointed at the entry, asking the finance director. He hesitated, his eyes darting away."The Alpha approved it. He said the southern district needed medical equipment urgently, so he moved the funds from our side first."In Felix's eyes, I was just some weak little thing clinging to him. How dare he move that much money without considering what it could cost me?I closed the ledger and drove straight to the city hospital. The hospital room door was cracked open. Laughter drifted out.Felix was holding a bowl of hot porridge, blowing on it carefully before bringing it to Willow's lips. Willow wore a pale purple hospital gown, sipping in small bites, a sweet smile on her face."Felix, that villa in the southern dis

Three days passed. Felix didn't return the money. Instead, he brought Willow straight back to our new house.Willow sat in a wheelchair, pale and fragile, looking utterly pitiful."Esme, go apply for Frost Pack to grant Willow access to the Spirit Spring for her recovery. Okay?"Felix stood in the hall, and the first thing out of his mouth was something I couldn't possibly do.I looked at him, helpless. "The Spirit Spring is Frost Pack's sacred ground. Only the pack leaders and warriors who've made great contributions can use it. Outsiders are absolutely forbidden. I'm just an accountant. How am I supposed to get you access to the Spirit Spring?"Felix seemed annoyed that I'd refused outright. "Don't you want Willow's leg to heal faster? The doctors said the Spirit Spring could help her recover. And only when her leg is better can we hold our bonding ceremony on schedule."Willow's eyes turned red at the edges. She sniffled softly."Felix, forget it. I know Esme hates me. If my leg sta

Hearing that I'd finally changed my mind and was willing to come home, my father was overjoyed. He immediately sent pack warriors to escort me back.Since I'd decided to leave, I cleared out everything in the new house that belonged to me. And that's when I realized, there wasn't much here that was truly mine to begin with."Miss Esme." The warrior my father sent to protect me appeared at the door. "The Alpha of Darkmoon Pack has brought the Omega to the Spirit Spring entrance. They have your bracelet and are trying to force their way in.""Let them try." My voice was soft. "He actually thinks our pack's Spirit Spring is something anyone can just use? He's an Alpha, sure, but he's an outsider. Does he even deserve it?"The guard lowered his head. "Understood."Not long after, the front door slammed open. Felix stormed in, furious."Esme, what the hell are you playing at now!"He marched straight at me. "Your people told me you never even applied for Willow's Spirit Spring access. I'm y

Felix's POVThe next day, Frost Pack's leader sent a formal notice to Darkmoon Pack."Effective immediately, Frost Pack hereby terminates all treaties with Darkmoon Pack. Alpha Felix of Darkmoon Pack is ordered to return the twenty million in Frost Pack warrior pension funds that was misappropriated, within three days. If payment is not received by the deadline, Frost Pack will fully withdraw technical support for the southern mining district and permanently cut off the water supply to Darkmoon Pack."The southern mining district was Darkmoon Pack's largest economic pillar for nearly half a century. Its core extraction technology relied entirely on Frost Pack's support.Even more critical was the water. Darkmoon Pack's territory sat in a semi-arid zone. Their only water source came from the living water Frost Pack channeled from the far northern glaciers.Lose both of those, and Darkmoon Pack wouldn't just face immediate economic collapse. It would threaten the entire pack's survival.

Felix's POV"Esme," Nova's voice rose, filled with pride, "is the one and only heir to Frost Pack. The future Snow Wolf Queen!"The color drained from Felix's face in an instant, leaving him pale as paper. Countless details he'd deliberately ignored or dismissed came rushing back in a torrent. No wonder Esme had fallen into that ice cave five years ago. An ordinary wolf wouldn't have wandered into a forbidden place like that.No wonder Esme never argued when the Darkmoon Pack Elders gave her a hard time.No wonder the twenty million pension fund could be moved so easily in Esme's name.No wonder his Alpha pressure had never worked on her. He'd always believed he was the one who saved Esme. That he'd bound her to him with that debt of gratitude. He convinced himself he was the best choice for her. He'd hurt her repeatedly for another Omega and genuinely believed he'd treated Esme well.He never realized it was Esme who'd been tolerating him all along. For his sake, she'd dimmed her own

Outside the sanctuary, the wind and snow cut like blades.Felix's knees had completely sunk into the ice. Wolf blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, freezing instantly in the bitter cold."Esme, I'm returning the bracelet. I was wrong. Please, just see me one more time."His voice was hoarse, shattered by the howling wind, but every word carried clearly into the sanctuary. The cheers inside fell silent. Tens of thousands of hostile eyes locked onto the pitiful figure on the projection.I sat on the throne, my expression unchanged.Five years ago, when Felix carried me out of that ice cave, he was covered in snow and frost too. But his eyes back then had been bright as stars against the snow. I fell for him at first sight. When did Felix change? Now his eyes finally seemed to hold me again. But I no longer needed them."Esme," my father spoke, "shall I have him removed?"I shook my head. "Let him in, Father."The crowd paused, but no one objected. The future queen's command was a

Five years later.Under my leadership, Frost Pack had seized full control over all mineral resources in the far north. With absolute strength, our commercial reach and political influence continued to expand outward.I'd become the youngest and most formidable female leader in Frost Pack's history.Over these five years, countless powerful, handsome Alphas had tried to court me. Treasures from all over the world piled up in my storehouses. I never gave any of them a second glance. To me, a mate was no longer a necessity. My loyalty and love had been given entirely to my people. One day, I traveled south to inspect a newly developed energy mine. The convoy had to pass along the edge of Darkmoon Pack's territory."Ahead lies Darkmoon Pack's abandoned mining zone. Should we take a detour?" my guard asked quietly.I glanced out the window at the desolate, decaying landscape. "No need. Drive straight through."As we passed a depleted low-grade mining area, the convoy slowed. I caught sight
