Chapter 1

~Anwen’s POVThe first time Alpha Kael Draven summoned me to his private chambers, I was so scared, and at the same time I was happy, thinking my life was about to change. I know how foolish that sounds now.But when you've spent twenty-two years being treated like dirt beneath someone else's shoes, even the smallest kindness can feel like a miracle. And when the most powerful man in Blackthorn Pack suddenly asks for you by name, it's difficult not to wonder whether your life is finally about to change.I stood outside his chambers, twisting the hem of my faded maid's dress between my fingers. My palms were damp, and two guards stood on either side of the enormous mahogany doors, their expressions as cold as the winter wind blowing through the palace corridors. One of them glanced at me, then at the small tray in my hands."You're late."I looked down at the cup of tea resting on the tray."I'm sorry. The kitchen was…""Do you think the Alpha cares about your excuses, you worthless b

Chapter 2

~Anwen’s POVI wanted to scream. I wanted to burst through the barn doors and demand to know how two people could be so cruel after everything I had sacrificed for them. But I pressed both hands over my mouth, forcing the scream back down my throat as Kael and Seraphina walked out.The door creaked again as they both stepped back inside. My heart nearly stopped. I hurriedly closed my eyes and lay still, pretending to be asleep."Leave the food there," Kael said from the doorway. "When she wakes up, she should eat."I heard Seraphina drop the plate onto the floor beside the wall. The sound made me flinch, but I forced myself not to move."She can eat or starve," he muttered. "It makes no difference to me.""Just make sure she stays alive until we decide what to do with her."Their footsteps faded, followed by the heavy creak of the barn door. I remained still. One minute passed, and then another. I listened carefully, straining to hear even the faintest sound outside. When I was finall

Chapter 3

~Anwen’s POVWas I dead? That was the first question that crossed my mind when I opened my eyes. I stared at the strange ceiling above me, unable to remember where I was. Everything around me was quiet, and the bed beneath me felt softer than anything I had ever slept on.Was this what death felt like?I slowly turned my head, taking in the beautiful room. Long curtains covered the tall windows, and expensive furniture stood against the walls. There was no smell of dirt, no sound of guards, and no cold wind blowing through broken wooden walls.I was no longer in that horrible barn. But where was I?Then I remembered everything. The cliff, Kael and Seraphina, the arrow piercing my chest, and the ocean swallowing me.My eyes widened as I suddenly sat up. “Nooo!”I felt a sharp pain in my chest, forcing a scream from my lips. I fell back against the pillows, pressing my hand over the thick bandage covering my wound. Then, the door suddenly opened. I turned my head, my heart pounding as

Chapter 4

~Lucien’s POV“Why are you helping me when you do not even know me?”Anwen's question caught me off guard. I was about to answer when she suddenly pushed the blanket aside and tried to get out of bed. Her face twisted in pain, but before I could stop her, she dropped to her knees in front of me.“Please, Alpha Lucien, do not hand me over to Alpha Kael!” she cried, grabbing the edge of my shirt with trembling hands. “I promise I will not cause any trouble. I will leave your pack as soon as I am strong enough. Just please, do not send me back to him!”I stared at her in shock. The wound in her chest was still healing, yet she was on her knees, begging me as if I were about to sentence her to death.“Anwen, what are you doing?” I asked, quickly bending down to help her up. “You should not be out of bed. You could hurt yourself.”“No!” She shook her head and held on to me even tighter. “Please, I am begging you. I do not want to go back there. I would rather die than return to that place!

Chapter 5

~Lucien's POVI had consulted several healers and powerful sorcerers over the years, but none of them had been able to give me a lasting solution. Some believed the curse was too old to be broken, while others advised me to accept it as part of my bloodline. But how could I accept something that continued to take innocent lives?A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts, and I quickly straightened in my chair and tried to hide the sadness on my face."Come in," I called. The door opened, and one of the palace guards stepped inside. He bowed respectfully before speaking."Your Majesty, the royal sorcerer has arrived."I nodded and gestured for him to leave."Let him in."The guard bowed again, then stepped out. A few seconds later, Elvin, the royal sorcerer, entered the room. He was an elderly man who had served the royal family for years. His knowledge of ancient magic was greater than that of most people in the kingdom, and he was one of the few people I still trusted with matters

Chapter 6

~ Lucien's POVI stood up immediately, unable to hide the shock on my face."What do you mean she is missing?" I asked, staring at the maid who had brought the news. The maid lowered her head, trembling slightly."Your Majesty, we went to her room this afternoon to prepare her for lunch, but she was nowhere to be found. We searched everywhere, but we could not find her."I took a few steps towards her, trying to control the anger rising inside me."What about the maid I left her? Where is she?"The maid swallowed before answering. "She is outside, looking for her, Your Majesty.""Bring her to my chamber immediately," I ordered. "I want to speak with her."The maid bowed quickly. "Yes, Your Majesty."She turned and hurried out of the room, leaving me standing. I ran a hand through my hair, trying to understand what could have happened.Anwen could not have simply disappeared without anyone noticing. I had personally instructed the maid to attend to her, especially because of her condit
