Selene POV

"Maeve, I'm so sorry..."

"Don't be, Luna. It is not as I wished it to be, but... I do not hold any regret."

"Still, I'd like to make it up to you."

As I filled Maeve in on our plans for the ceremony, tears of joy pooled in her beautiful Fae eyes. Although, I couldn't help but feel a sharp pang of guilt at what I'd unwittingly forced her to do. Even now, with the ceremony, my motives were far from selfless.

I gave the Fae princess a swift hug before she left me to return to Cian.

I stood in front of the mirror in Aiden's room and took a long look at myself. I would need to return to the realm of the Gods before too long, I could see my light beginning to fade and I would need to regenerate. Unlike Aiden and the other creatures of higher magic, this was not my home. I wasn't sure I'd have lasted this long if it weren't for my bond with Aiden—I wondered if he could feel his power helping to sustain me.
