When You Left

"Mum... dad..." Stacy's voice was soft but loud enough for her parents to hear. She closed the door behind her and headed towards the large staircase where the noises and the arguments got clearer. The stairs were designed to look like a swirl to match the rest of the features in their vintage mansion. "Mum? Dad?" She called louder this time. A moment of silence took over as Stacy's long black hair swung side to side as she sauntered down the stairs and made her way towards the large hallway. Her eyes searched every corner but her parents weren't there. "Where were the noises coming from?" She wondered. Stacy slowly made her way towards the narrow passage this time which was the next closest room she could go to. The passage was the narrowest place in their house which was yet quite big for a passage. The line of white and gold antique vases was supported by tall white tools and on the opposite side, there was a row of windows that were only a few spaces apart. Stacy kept going and going until her eyes rested on the clusters of the broken vase. She remembered hearing it crash while she was on the phone with Jenna. She felt like she was closer to her parents after discovering the vase. Stacy carefully skipped past it and kept making her way towards them. "They must be here somewhere. I swear I heard them-huh!" Stacy gasped then clawed both of her hands tightly against her mouth. She was in shock. Complete and utter shock! She couldn't believe what she was seeing.

Right in front of her eyes, her mum gripped one of the antique vases, threatening to injure herself while her dad's jaw was practically on the floor. "Please, put it down." He pleaded in his softest tone and gesturing downwards with his hands.

"No! I will fucking ruin you. Do you understand?" Her mum's voice was piercingly loud and filled with hatred.

"Calm down, Stacy is right behind you." There was a sudden lump in Mr Arrington's throat as if he was about to cry but holding back his tears.

"I don't care!" Her mom sounded cold and ruthless. Stacy felt like someone has just stabbed her chest. How could her own mother say something like that?

"Put it down, Valeria." He ordered as he stepped forward and suddenly tried to snatch the vase away from her, she lifted her right hand and smashed her other hand with the vase. Stacy and Mr Arrington hopped backwards, shielding themselves with their arms as the chunks and clusters clattered around their tiled floor. Her mum was not new to self-harming but this was extreme! Mrs Arrington was screaming and yelling in pain while the pool of blood layered all over her arm slithered downwards, dropping right onto the tiled white floor.

"We...We'll get help." His voice quivered while Stacy had completely frozen in her place.

"No, you won't!" She screamed in frustration. She quickly slid her phone out of her pocket and dialled 3 numbers which were used for emergencies. "Hello."

"Yes mam how can I help you?" The words echoed outwards from the phone, which was loud enough for Stacy and her dad to hear.

"Can you please refer me to the police?" She insisted as she shot Mr Arrington a deadly glare. Mr Arrington's eyes nearly popped out of his skull? What was she going to do? How far was she going this time?

"I'll refer you right away." The line ended and in a blink but the phone started ringing again.

"What are you doing?" He whispered in horror.

The corner of her lips lifted as soon as someone received the call. "Hello? My husband is torturing me! He just hit me with a vase and my arm is bleeding. Please help!" She cried aloud.

His vision had turned into a complete blur as his blood started racing inside his veins, his knees had weakened down to the ground as his heart nearly bursted forth from his chest. He was utterly wrecked, destroyed!

Stacy was trembling uncontrollably from what she was witnessing. She couldn't stop shaking even if she wanted to. The horror of her dad getting arrested pains her chest. Mr Arrington didn't deserve this. He truly deserved someone better and Stacy knew it.

Stacy managed to stable herself on the tiled floor then sprinted over to her dad, wrapping both of her arms around his square waste then sobbed onto his chest. He gently patted back and said "Stacy? You have to be strong okay? He pulls away and meets her hazel brown eyes. "Everything will be fine." His voice was gentle yet braking with fear.

"Thump! Thump! Thump!" The few knocks on the door whipped them across the chest while Mrs Arrington raced with excitement, making her way towards the large hall then swinging the door open. Right outside the house, a group of men and women stood still wearing their black their usual uniform.

Their eyes widened as soon as it laid on the blood crawling all over her arm. "He's right over there!" Her finger shoots towards the passage, guiding them towards Mr Arrington. They barged into the mansion. Stomping towards the long passage. "He threatened to kill me!" She yelled aloud while leading the police. The vision of Mr Arrington and Stacy got clearer and clearer. They were both clawed at each other while quivering in fear. The police looked a bit confused from their reaction but mostly Stacy's reaction towards her dad. The tall man in front whispered to the woman with beautifully braided hair. She responded with a quick nod then head towards Stacy as the group of police headed towards her dad. The officer swiftly slid the handcuff out then cuffed both of Mr Arrington's wrists.

"Please don't. He's innocent!" The tears began to gather beneath her eyes then slid down her face.

"Dont worry. We'll only ask your father a few questions." He assured as the group of police dragged him away from the passage and towards the hallway. Stacy's heart had completely shattered and splintered into many pieces as she saw her dad being taken away from her. Was this it? Will she ever get to see him again?

Her eyes shifted toward her mother as one of the woman called an ambulance to get her some help. "Please come with me." The woman next to her pleaded. They headed towards the sitting room which is on the other side of the hallway. Stacy heard the door slam, indicating that the police left with her dad.

Stacy gently sat down on the fluffy white couch as the woman sat opposite her on the larger couch. Stacy's hazel brown eyes focused on her dark brown eyes as they both faced each other. She smiled with sympathy and introduced herself as Adaliya. Her facial features were very calming as the beed of sunlight light layer on her almond skin. "Your dad will be fine don't worry. Now describe to me exactly what happened."
