Honestly, my most anticipated is less about a specific title and more about watching which debut actually survives the hype cycle. Last year, 'The Hurricane Wars' was everywhere pre-release and then the discourse turned so sour so fast. It makes me skeptical. The book I've added to my TBR based on a trusted friend's ARC read is 'Golden Hour' by Mari Flores. It's a contemporary about two Latinx teens running rival food trucks at a California festival, forced to team up. My friend said the banter is incredible and the food descriptions made her actually order takeout while reading. That feels like a more genuine, word-of-mouth recommendation than just seeing a beautiful cover reposted a thousand times. I'm looking forward to that cozy, competitive dynamic more than any world-ending plot.

Everyone's talking about the big fantasy and romance ones, but I'm way more excited for a debut horror novel called 'The Grip' by Simon Vale. It’s about a small town where people start getting haunted by their own reflections. Sounds creepy as hell. I saw a couple of horror-focused BookTokers get early copies and they were practically shaking in their videos, which is a great sign. The publisher is a smaller imprint, so it doesn't have the mega-marketing budget, but that kind of organic, genuine scare reaction from early readers is what really gets me to buy a book. I hope it delivers on the premise and doesn't just fizzle out into a bland mystery.

The buzz is definitely strongest for 'The Stars We Steal'. Every other Thursday my FYP is flooded with new teasers or aesthetic moodboards for it. The author is also really active, doing little behind-the-scenes clips about the querying process, which makes the community feel invested in her success. It's the textbook definition of a BookTok darling in the making. I'll probably wait for the first wave of full reviews before committing, though.

which honestly sounds like it was custom-built for a viral moment. I saw an influencer on my feed do a whole 'unboxing' of the sampler and the cover alone is stunning—very minimalist with a neon spaceship trail. The premise has that high-concept, easily shareable hook that does so well. That said, I'm a bit wary of the hype. Sometimes debuts that get this much early buzz can feel over-edited to fit a trend, you know? Still, I've pre-ordered it. I'm weak for a good heist.

Another one I'm cautiously optimistic about is 'A History of Silence' by Aris Thorne. It's a historical fantasy set in a version of the Silk Road where silence is a tangible commodity. That's such a cool, weird concept. The ARC reviews I've glimpsed talk about its really dense, atmospheric prose, which might not be for everyone, but could make it a quieter hit. I don't think it'll have the same mass appeal as the space heist, but for people who loved 'The Song of Achilles' or 'The Golem and the Jinni', this might hit that same literary-mythic niche.
