With all the new Warriors arcs and side stories releasing, getting the timeline straight feels confusing. Where do the latest super editions fit in?

I think the fandom makes this harder than it needs to be. The 'new' books simply follow the old ones. 'Dawn of the Clans' is technically first in the timeline, but it was written later. If you want the story as intended, read what was published after you finished. The official website has a list. It's not that deep. Just grab the next book that came out after the last one you read.

The translations can add another layer of confusion if you're reading in a language other than English. Release dates differ, and sometimes the translated titles vary. If you're relying on non-English resources, make sure you're on a fan site or forum for your specific language to get the correct order. The English publication order is considered the canonical sequence, so if you can, try to follow that as your baseline, even if you're reading translated editions.

I'm just waiting for someone to post a link to that one perfect infographic. You know the one. It's been shared a thousand times. It has little icons of the cats. That's all I need. Until then, I'm nodding along pretending I understand the difference between 'The Broken Code' and 'A Starless Clan'. They both sound cool.

Just going to lurk here and take notes. My kid is asking for these books, and I need to figure out which one to buy first without getting it wrong. All these arc names and super editions... maybe I'll just get her the first box set and hope for the best. If she likes it, I'll come back to this thread when she's ready for more. Thanks, everyone, for the... comprehensive breakdown. I think I need a diagram.

The official app, 'Warriors: The Ultimate Guide', is a paid app but it's a fantastic digital companion. It has a timeline, family trees, and profiles that update as you progress. You can set your current reading position to avoid spoilers. It's the closest thing to an official, interactive reading order guide. It's especially useful for keeping track of relationships in the newer, more complex arcs where lineage and history play a big role in the plot.

Which reading order should I follow for the warriors series?

When I first dove back into the world of cats, I learned the hard way that how you read 'Warriors' changes the whole vibe of the story. If you want my enthusiastic vote: start with publication order. That means reading the arcs as they came out — 'The Prophecies Begin', then 'The New Prophecy', 'Power of Three', 'Omen of the Stars', 'Dawn of the Clans', 'A Vision of Shadows', 'The Broken Code', and then the newest arcs. Publication order preserves the pacing, reveals, and emotional beats Erin Hunter built, so plot twists land the way they were meant to. I personally did this with a friend and we kept texting each other after cliffhangers for days — it’s a whole mood. Super editions, novellas, and field guides are best sprinkled in when they match the timeline or when you want a breather. For example, read character super editions around the arcs where those characters are important, and slot novellas either between arcs or after finishing an arc to avoid spoiling future events. Manga can be a fun side trip: most manga are stand-alone or adapt small parts, so I read them between arcs as palate cleansers. If you like lore, pause for 'Secrets of the Clans' or 'Code of the Clans' — they’re delightful detours that deepen StarClan and Clan history. If you want a different experience, chronological order gives origin context (especially for 'Dawn of the Clans'), but for a first-time read I swear by publication order. It made my first re-read feel like visiting old friends with better understanding, and it’s how most long-time readers still recommend it.

What is the correct outlander books in order to read for new readers?

If you’re staring at a bookstore shelf or a long list online and wondering where to begin with Diana Gabaldon’s saga, here’s the simplest, clearest path I trust: read the main novels in publication order. That means start with 'Outlander', then follow with 'Dragonfly in Amber', 'Voyager', 'Drums of Autumn', 'The Fiery Cross', 'A Breath of Snow and Ashes', 'An Echo in the Bone', 'Written in My Own Heart's Blood', and most recently 'Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone'. These are the spine of the story — Claire and Jamie’s relationship, the historical sweep, and the long-running mysteries all unfold across these books, and reading them in order preserves the emotional and plot reveal rhythms Gabaldon built. If you feel like branching out, there are novellas and the 'Lord John' spin-offs that expand the world and spotlight side characters. I usually recommend finishing at least the first three main books before diving into the shorter pieces; they’re delightful, but they can interrupt momentum if you read them too early. Also, 'The Outlandish Companion' volumes are great for reference and trivia if you’re the kind of reader who loves maps, timelines, and behind-the-scenes notes. One last practical tip: expect long books and a lot of historical detail. Treat the series like a slow, delicious TV binge — savor the characters and let the world sink in. For me, the best part is how the series keeps surprising me even after multiple rereads; it’s messy, romantic, and utterly immersive.
