Reddit. Seriously, the fanfiction subreddits and specific fandom subs have weekly 'Recommendation' threads. Post asking for, say, 'Harry Potter crosses over with Marvel' and you'll get a dozen direct links within hours. People are really helpful about sharing their favorites. It's how I found my current read.

I was just digging into that a few weeks back! The main hubs are still Archive of Our Own and FanFiction.net, of course, but for crossover stuff, you gotta get specific with your searches. Just tagging 'Marvel' or 'DC' is too broad; you'll get lost. I filter by the fandom tags for both universes I want, then sort by kudos or bookmarks from the last few years.
What really helped was finding a few authors who specialize in mashups. Once you find one good story where, say, the Avengers end up in Middle-earth, check that writer's bookmarks. They often curate lists of similar crossovers. Tumblr is weirdly good for this too—people reccing 'Batfam meets Teen Wolf' threads with direct links. Makes the hunt way easier than just scrolling through thousands of fics.
Sometimes I stumble onto smaller, fandom-specific forums if the crossover is niche, like blending classic literature heroes with modern ones. Those stories are rarer but feel like little secrets when you find them.

Honestly, AO3 is your best resource, full stop. The tagging system is built for this. You can combine character tags from 'The Witcher' and 'The Lord of the Rings' and find exactly what you're after. The filters let you exclude things you don't want, which is huge for crossovers where you might only want a specific character jumping worlds.
I've found some amazing longfics that way, stories that treat the crossover as a proper fusion of worlds instead of just a brief visit. The quality tends to be higher there overall, in my experience. Just be prepared to spend an afternoon tweaking your search—it's a deep archive.

It depends on what kind of heroes you mean. Superhero comics? AO3 is king. But if you're thinking more mythological or historical heroes, sometimes the older sites like FanFiction.net still have gems you won't find elsewhere. Their crossover category is massive, though the search is clunky.
A trick I use is to look for communities on FanFiction.net dedicated to a specific hero, like a 'Percy Jackson' community. They'll often have a subfolder for crossovers with other series. The rec lists on TV Tropes are another weirdly useful rabbit hole. I found a fantastic 'Norse Mythology meets Marvel' fic through a 'Wacky Crossovers' page there. You just have to be willing to click through a few dead links.

Sinners & Saints: A Collection Of Dark Romance Stories

This author once failed as a heroine… and returned as something entirely different.
Not as a savior.
But as the villain.
And she didn’t come back empty-handed.
She brought secrets.
She brought sins.
She brought a story that was never meant to be read.
Sinners & Saints is not just a collection of dark romance stories—
It is a confession.
A warning.
And a door best left unopened.
Within these pages lie twisted love stories where desire and destruction walk hand in hand, and every choice comes with a cost.
So the question is simple:
Will you turn away…
or step inside anyway?
At a time when sudden cosmic imbalances can be felt across universes, Earth becomes the center of an extraterrestrial attack when there is an alien-like invasion by an army of inter dimensional beings led by a goddess of war and death.
There is then a most impeccable ensemble comprising of one Natasha Johnson; Atlanta’s christened superheroine, ‘Viper’, along with a group of teenagers, super-powered beings, some old familiar faces, scientists, cops, the military, and even mercenaries who must then team up to ensure the survival of the planet as well as preventing the impending destruction of the entire cosmos.
I've actually found that the most popular crossovers tend to migrate between sites depending on the fandom's current activity. A few years back, the bulk of the really big, plot-heavy SU/MHA fusions were all over Archive of Our Own, tagged with stuff like 'Deku & Steven Universe' or 'Gem Technology in the MHA World'. The sorting and filtering there is your strongest tool—you can filter by kudos or hits and then exclude tags you're not into, which is crucial because the crossover can attract some... let's say very specific flavor of power-fantasy fics that might not be your thing.
Lately, I've noticed a small but dedicated cluster on SpaceBattles and Sufficient Velocity forums, pitched more as 'rationalist' or world-building exercises. Think 'What if a Gem destabilizer tech fell into UA's support course?' These are less about shipping and more about systemic consequences, and they update in threads, so you have to dig through pages of reader speculation. For a more curated, completed-story experience, I still default to AO3 and sometimes cross-check with FanFiction.net, which has a smaller but older archive where some real classics from the crossover's early days are buried.
Everyone gets obsessed over Venom just teaming up with Spider-Man, but honestly, I’ve seen those done to death. The really wild potential is when you throw Venom into the cosmic side of Marvel. Imagine a Venom symbiote bonding with a Kree soldier or latching onto a severed Celestial head floating in space. The symbiote's personality and instincts mixed with a totally alien culture could create something bizarre and new. It’s less about a straight-up fight scene and more about psychological horror and weird biology.
I once read a short crossover with the 'Annihilation' saga where the Venom symbiote bonded with one of those techno-organic Phalanx things. The writing was messy, but the idea of it trying to assimilate while also wanting to consume was genuinely creepy. Those kinds of stories can work if the writer is willing to lean into the body horror and not just default to 'Venom vs. New Hero'.
I guess what I'm saying is that effectiveness depends on choosing a universe with themes that clash in an interesting way, not just where the action figures look cool together.
