When cleaning doesn’t work, replacing the analog stick modules is often the last DIY fix. You can buy replacement parts online for most controllers, and soldering is usually required. I’ve done this a couple of times, and while it’s satisfying to resurrect a controller, it’s not for everyone. If you’re not handy with a soldering iron, local repair shops might offer a cheaper alternative to buying a brand-new controller.
