Trying to pin down Frisk and Chara in fanfiction is basically watching the fandom have a years-long identity crisis. It’s so much deeper than ‘who’s the good guy.’ The core of it, from what I’ve read, plays with two big questions: can a name be a person, and what happens when a story gets handed off to someone else’s ghost?
