What's the appeal of a continuous arc anyway? For me, it's the sense of investment. A standalone mystery is a one-night stand; a series with a true arc is a long-term relationship. You notice the small changes, the gray hairs, the shifting priorities. The detective becomes a companion. That's why I'm always hunting for series that promise that kind of journey.
I'm skeptical of claims about deep arcs in genre fiction sometimes. But then I read 'Karma' by Kiersten Modglin? Wait, that's not Indian. My bad. I'm trying to think of an Indian author who structures a series like a novel, with a clear beginning, middle, and end for the detective. Maybe the Juggernaut Books digital series 'The Itch'? No, that's not a detective series either. I'll stop now and just read the other suggestions here!

A series of past murders catch the attention of the police and the media.
All the people who were killed were women, all of which had some sort of relationship with a well known and successful businessman named Asriel Parker.
For some reason, the murders all point to him as the number one suspect and connection between them. The reasonable thing to do is to put him behind bars but there is one problem.
"Everyone is innocent in the eyes of the law until proven guilty."
There isn't a shred of evidence that actually pinpoints Asriel Parker as the culprit.
With that statement in mind, Selena March, a good police officer and detective is sent undercover as his live-in Personal Assistant to dig up whatever information she can use to put the murderer behind bars.
Selena has no idea what she signs up for but she knows for a fact that falling in love is not part of the whole 'undercover' mission
A brutal murder will mark her path forever, and a destiny crueler than death.
After the terrible murder of her family, Maria De La Cruz, decides to dedicate herself body and soul to try to solve the mysteries that were woven since her childhood, but along the way she will fall madly in love with Emiliano Romero, who, supposedly, will help her in this great quest for revenge.
Who is the real killer in this story?
How far will she be able to search for the truth?
And, above all,
Why can't she remember anything?
"Revenge is a faithful vigilante of the brave".
If you like your detectives with supernatural baggage, Ben Aaronovitch's 'Rivers of London' series follows PC Peter Grant as he becomes the first apprentice wizard in modern London's police force. His arc from probationary constable to a powerful, knowledgeable practitioner—while juggling police procedure, river goddesses, and his own heritage—is brilliantly plotted. He grows in skill, confidence, and personal responsibility. The mysteries are fun, but Peter's coming-of-age as a wizard-cop is the addictive long-term draw.
