I've spent a good chunk of time digging around for this one. Finding a legitimate free audiobook of 'King of Wrath' is a real challenge, mostly because it's a relatively new and popular title from the contemporary romance scene. The best chance for a free listen usually comes from trial offers on major audiobook platforms. Services like Audible often give new users a free credit that can be used on any title, including that one. Public libraries are another solid route; using apps like Libby or Hoopla with a library card can grant access if your local system has purchased the digital audiobook license. The catch is that there's often a waitlist for hot titles.
Outside of those official channels, you'll mostly come across sites that offer 'free' versions, but I'd be extremely cautious. A lot of those are either pirated content, which isn't great for supporting the author, or they're full of misleading ads and potential security risks. Sometimes you might find a promotional snippet on the publisher's YouTube channel or Spotify, but that's usually just a sample chapter, not the full book. The effort to find a truly free, full-length version that's also legal and safe is probably more hassle than it's worth compared to just using a free trial or waiting your turn at the library.
Honestly, the subscription model has really shifted how we access these things. That first free credit from a service feels like finding a gold coin, and it's perfect for locking in a must-listen title like this. The library digital wait, while a test of patience, also has its own kind of satisfaction when your hold finally comes through. It’s a bit of a scavenger hunt, but the reliable paths are the ones that don’t involve sketchy downloads.

"You," he growled, glaring at me with hatred in his eyes even as he pinned me to the wall, obstructing my airflow. "I'm going to enjoy breaking you."
"I'd like to see you try, Alpha." I spat at him, my voice filled with defiance.
He dropped me to the ground before lifting me up as if I weighed nothing and pinning me against his study table, pushing my legs apart.
"Oh, you'll see. And by the time I'm done with you, you'll beg for death." He growled against my ears, filling me with fear of what is to come.

Book 1 in the Ruthless Alpha King Series.
King Lucien Draven rules the United Packs with cold iron strength. He has crushed every rebellion and refused every mating alliance. Lycan law demands a king produce heirs with a royal female or face challenge to his throne. Male omegas are disposable tributes, never equals.
Then Caelan Ashford arrives as tribute from a fading noble pack. The quiet, scarred omega expects death in the royal palace. Instead, his scent ignites the ancient mate bond the instant their eyes meet. The pull is raw, immediate, and utterly forbidden.
Lucien fights the bond with ruthless control. He confines Caelan to the lower halls, assigns him to brutal training, and buries desire beneath duty. But every stolen glance and accidental brush erodes his restraint. The bond grows stronger, darker, impossible to ignore.
Caelan hides a deadly secret: royal blood from the dynasty Lucien’s ancestors destroyed. His silver collar dulls his true scent, yet it cannot hide him from the king or from Prince Rowan Draven, Lucien’s charismatic and dangerous younger brother.
Rowan sees Caelan as both prize and weapon. He offers protection and power in exchange for loyalty, circling like a predator while court intrigue thickens with assassination plots and rising rebellion.
Torn between throne and heart, Lucien must decide how much he will risk for his forbidden mate. Caelan, trapped between two lethal alphas, navigates betrayal, awakening power, and a bond that could destroy the kingdom or remake it.
In a slow-burning dance of denial and surrender, where every touch courts war and every refusal cuts deeper, one forbidden connection threatens an empire and two wounded souls who were never meant to find each other.

“Let’s go.” He ordered, and I crossed my arms, backing away from him.
“I'd rather die.” I spat.
“Commendable. Your people gave you up as a treaty offer. Do you think you have a choice?” There was no amusement in his tone, and I couldn’t help but shake slightly.
“If you want to kill me, get it over with.” I demanded.
He leaned in, and a shiver coursed through me. “I’m going to kill you alright, Prisoner. But a quick death has never been my thing. Your death will be slow.” His promise made my heart skip.
“You wish.” I swore.
He smirked. “I know. I’ll kill you with my own hands.”
•••
I hate my parents. My sister too. And if I was given a knife, I’d stab them. No, I don’t long for family bonds, or for their love. I am the symbol of their mistake. And that’s all I’d ever be to them. The useless hybrid omega, cursed at birth. Doomed to die. A werewolf with two eye colors.
All my dreams to run away and be free from my curse shatters one day, when my pack gives me out as a treaty offer to a dreaded pack. And a total stranger. A stranger who oozes pure danger and lethality. A stranger who makes me feel, for the very first time.
And soon, I discover that the stranger is the most dangerous man to ever live. The Rogue King.
At first, I didn't see myself falling for King Caelum. He’s an asshole, and a condescending bastard. But soon, my heart betrays me. Soon, I am forced to make one of the most difficult choices ever.
Soon, I am forced to either kill, or be killed…
Alaric Thorn was just a blacksmith in the 12th century—a husband, a father, a simple man.
Until the day everything was taken from him.
His wife murdered.
His daughters stolen.
And he himself slaughtered, powerless to protect the people he loved.
But death did not end his story.
Dragged into a supernatural realm after dying, Alaric made a desperate bargain:
power in exchange for completing a mission in the future.
A mission he did not understand.
He returned to Earth centuries later—only to realize his revenge no longer existed.
Four hundred years had passed.
His family long gone.
Their killer long dead.
And Alaric… could no longer die.
Cursed with immortality, he wandered through ages and empires, trying every possible way to end his life—failing each time. All he wanted was to go back in time and fix what he had lost.
But when he finally stepped into a time machine, fate betrayed him again.
Instead of the past…
Alaric was thrown into another realm entirely—a brutal world crawling with monsters, ancient races, and system-like powers. Here, strength must be earned through blood, each battle pushing him closer to awakening his true potential.
In this realm, he is no longer just a wanderer.
He is a rising lord.
A conqueror.
A man destined to build an empire strong enough to challenge a king—
a king who bears the same name as the monster who destroyed his life on Earth.
As Alaric fights beasts, defeats tyrants, and gathers allies and armies, he discovers the truth behind the mission he accepted centuries ago:
To reclaim his fate…
To break his immortal curse…
To rewrite the destiny stolen from him…
He must rise as the Immortal King.
The true master of the Dark Realm he was fated to rule.
I found the humor landed better in the audiobook. Vivian's sarcastic inner thoughts, delivered with a dry, deadpan tone by the narrator, made me chuckle out loud. Reading them, I might have just smiled. Timing is everything in comedy, and a good narrator knows how to deliver a punchline, even in a romantic drama.
Look on Libro.fm. They're a great alternative to Audible because they support independent bookstores with each purchase. I bought my copy there. The app is solid, and you can either use a membership credit or buy it directly. They definitely have the rights for it.
Consider the opportunity cost. The internet is full of amazing, legally free stories—webcomics, extensive fanfiction, authors' free newsletters, classic literature. If paying for 'King of Wrath' is a barrier, dive into those vast oceans of content first. Come back to it when your budget allows or you find it at the library.
I'm waiting for the day when all audiobooks are like music. Just one subscription, everything's there. We're not there yet, especially for big romance. 'King of Wrath' is a test case. If enough people wait for library copies or refuse to use Audible, maybe publishers will reconsider exclusivity.
But for now, they're making a killing on the current model. So as consumers, we have to vote with our wallets. I borrowed it from the library after a long wait because I refuse to get an Audible subscription just for one book. It was worth the wait, and my library got the stats to show demand.
