To the system, and by extension to everyone else, he functionally doesn’t exist, hence the title. It’s less about power-leveling to godhood and more about surviving as a ghost in the machine, using his ‘non-existence’ to navigate threats both monster and human.

That core premise drives everything. Early chapters focus on his sheer desperation, figuring out basic survival when he can’t receive quests, gain acknowledged skills, or even be targeted by some monster aggro mechanics. He has to rely purely on his own wits and whatever physical conditioning he had before the change. The tension comes from this constant, low-grade panic of being overlooked yet profoundly vulnerable. Later, it evolves into him manipulating his unique condition, like a stealth character in a game that wasn’t designed for stealth, to uncover the deeper cracks in this new world order. The art does a fantastic job of making his isolation feel palpable, especially in crowded scenes where all those glowing status windows just ignore him.

Honestly, the appeal for me wasn’t the power fantasy—he’s weak for a surprisingly long time—but the psychological and logistical puzzle of it. How do you find food when you can’t earn system points? How do you communicate when your ‘party invite’ function is broken? It turns a common trope inside out. Some readers might find the initial pace a bit slow because he’s not instantly OP, but that groundwork makes his later, cleverer manipulations feel earned. I dropped off around chapter 80 when the plot seemed to be meandering a bit, but those first 40-50 chapters are a masterclass in wringing tension from a single, simple existential glitch.
