The most memorable ones for me are always tied to a great character. I don't remember all the details of the Nine Serenities Sect, but I remember the chilling elder from there who sacrificed a city for a breakthrough. The Ning Clan might be a mid-tier family, but the young master who became the MC's lifelong friend after a rocky start gave them a personality.
The factions are just frameworks. They become real through the individuals that represent them—the proud young mistress, the wise but strict elder, the scheming clan head. Those are the hooks that make you remember 'Ah, that's the sect with the guy who did that thing.' The politics are driven by people, not just faceless organizations.

To be completely honest, I haven't read far enough into 'Legend of the Cultivation God' to give you a reliable list. I got bogged down in the early world-building and put it on hold. From what I skimmed on forums, it seems like the usual massive cultivation universe with dozens of factions. Maybe someone who's caught up to the latest translated chapters can jump in with a proper breakdown. I'd love to see a compiled list myself, honestly.
It sounds like the kind of story where you need a wiki open just to keep track of everyone's affiliations.

Can we talk about the Demon Spirit Sect for a second? They had such a cool aesthetic and their whole beast-taming, spirit-controlling schtick was way more interesting to me than another generic sword sect. They felt unique in a sea of similar-looking cultivation clans. I always wished the story spent more time exploring their internal structure and history instead of using them as periodic antagonists or allies of convenience.
They represent a whole different philosophical approach to power that the righteous path looks down on, which creates fantastic tension. I'd read a whole spin-off about a disciple rising through their ranks.

The translation pace is a factor here. If you're reading as it's translated, you might go months between mentions of a specific clan, and you'll forget who they are. The official translation might use different terms than the fan translation you read three years ago. This question is almost impossible to answer definitively without referencing a specific, complete source, which doesn't exist in English yet.
So any list is going to be a partial, possibly inconsistent, snapshot from someone's personal reading journey. The best we can do is share our individual understandings and piece together a fuller picture collaboratively.

I'm just here for the drama. The sects and clans are just fancy sets for the interpersonal conflicts. The love triangle complicated by clan loyalties. The betrayal by a sworn brother because his sect demanded it. The secret parentage reveal that ties the MC to an ancient, fallen clan. That's the good stuff.
The specific names are just labels on the jars of poison, treasure, and plot twists. Give me compelling characters caught between their personal desires and their faction's demands, and I'll happily follow them through a hundred different 'Pavilions' and 'Valleys.'

The sects in 'World of Cultivation' are wild and diverse, each with their own flavor of power. The Golden Crow Sect is all about fire—think blazing swords and sun-baked techniques that turn enemies to ash. The Ling Sword Sect specializes in precision, their disciples slicing through defenses like scalpels. Then there's the Ice Soul Palace, where cultivators freeze opponents mid-step and shatter them with a glance. The most intriguing is the Hundred Herb Sect—they fight with poison and healing, a deadly combo that keeps you guessing whether they'll cure you or kill you. Lesser-known sects like the Shadow Devil Valley operate in whispers, their assassins vanishing before the body hits the ground. The novel does a great job making each sect feel distinct, not just in power but in culture and philosophy.
Let's be real, half of us are just here for the trash-talking and face-slapping. The realms are just the numbered tiers that make the trash-talking meaningful. When Gu Changge looks at some young master and says, 'Your Golden Core cultivation is as stable as a sandcastle,' we all cheer because we know exactly what that means and how big the gap is. It's the vocabulary of humiliation.
Sect names in this story almost feel like a lore check. If you're reading the original translation or the manhua, you'll see a huge evolution. The early Southern Domain has the Violet Fate Sect, the Blood Immortal Sect (the whole legacy contest), the Black Sieve Sect, and the Solitary Sword Sect, just to name a few.
Then the narrative expands massively into the Northern Region, Eastern Lands, and Western Desert, each with their own power structures. The Demon Immortal Sect, the Heavengod Alliance, the Ji Clan—these become central later on. The real fun is tracking how Meng Hao interacts with, joins, or utterly upends each one. It's less a static list and more a map of his escalating influence.
