The plot structure makes it obvious. 'Legion' ends with a major, world-changing crisis fully revealed and a call to arms. 'Siege' begins with the response to that crisis. They are two halves of a whole. Publication order (#7 then #8) is the only logical way.

I listened to the series on audio, and the narrator does a fantastic job distinguishing the huge cast in 'Legion' and 'Siege'. Knowing they're books 7 and 8 helped me track my progress. It's a long series, but these two feel like the peak of the initial story cycle.

I found a used copy of 'Siege' first and was utterly confused by the opening chapter. It assumes you know about a major event that literally ends 'Legion'. So yeah, order matters. 'Legion' is the setup, 'Siege' is the explosive resolution.

Just check the copyright pages in the physical books or the series listing on the publisher's website. They are numerically ordered. 'Monster Hunter: Legion' is the seventh novel, 'Monster Hunter: Siege' is the eighth. It's as official as it gets.

Listening to the audiobooks, the narrator's tone shifts noticeably between 'Legion' and 'Siege'. In 'Legion', there's more tension and uncertainty. In 'Siege', it's grim determination. That progression only works in sequence. So, book 7 then book 8.

Where does each Monster Hunter Legion novel fall in the series order?

If you’re an audiobook listener like me, this order stuff matters for your credits! The narration is consistently great across the board. For the Legion-centric experience, I’d go with: 'Monster Hunter Legion' (narrated by Oliver Wyman, as always), then the two 'Memoirs' books (also Oliver Wyman, doing an amazing job with different eras), then 'Guardian' and 'Bloodlines'. Listening in that order lets you appreciate the vocal consistency and how the narrator adjusts for different time periods and character focuses. It’s a solid 50+ hours of entertainment right there.

Where do the Monster Hunter Chronicles books fit in the series order?

If you're a completist, I'd suggest this: Read novels 1-8. Then read 'Memoirs' 1-3. Then read 'Chronicles' and 'Files'. That gives you the full, uninterrupted core story, then the big side-story, then all the little bits and pieces. That's how I did it, and it felt very satisfying.

Where does Monster Hunter International: Legion fit in the series order?

It's number four. The humor is still there, but the horror elements get dialed up to eleven. The enemy in this one is particularly nasty, and the book's placement in the series allows for that shift because the readers are already acclimated to the world.

Where does Monster Hunter International: Legion fit in the order?

From a collector's standpoint, the hardcovers and paperbacks usually have the series number on the spine. For 'Legion', you'll typically see it listed as #4. That's the most straightforward indicator. In terms of story, it continues the main plotline involving Owen, the MCB, and the growing shadow of the Old Ones. It's not a side story or a prequel; it's the next major installment. If you're reading the series, you should have finished 'Alpha' before opening this one. The book assumes you know who the characters are and what they've been through. It's a direct continuation, plain and simple.

How do the Monster Hunter spin off books fit into the main series order?

Man, I miss the old forum days where we'd argue about whether a certain novel's depiction of Gravios behavior was canon. Good times. The ambiguity was the point. It sparked discussion and deep dives into ecology notes. Maybe that's their real purpose: to fuel fandom debates, not to provide answers.

What is the correct Monster Hunter book series order?

I'm waiting for someone to post a definitive infographic. I'll just bookmark this thread and check back later. My to-read pile is big enough without me spending an hour researching the proper sequence for a monster-slaying book series. No offense to the franchise, I love it, but this is why I usually just play the games.

In what order should I read the Monster Hunter Legends novels?

5 Jawaban2026-08-03 02:36:04
Chronologically, the events in the 'Monster Hunter: Legends' prequel novel happen first in the timeline. However, the 'Legends of the Guild' trilogy was written later and assumes you have some basic knowledge of the world. I'd recommend reading 'Legends of the Guild' first to see if you like the style, then circle back to 'Legends' for deeper world-building.

In what order should I read the Monster Hunter Siege arc?

6 Jawaban2026-08-03 17:51:39
My two cents: The order is plainly the chapter order, but your memory of previous arcs is important. The Siege pays off setups from way earlier. So the 'true' order is reading the entire novel up to that point, then the Siege arc in sequence. You can't just jump into the Siege. Its power comes from knowing these characters and their journeys. So your reading order starts at Chapter 1, not Chapter 364. Context is everything for this one.

What is the chronological reading order for all Monster Hunter books?

5 Jawaban2026-08-03 11:45:31
It's an anthology universe. Like 'Black Mirror' or The Cthulhu Mythos stories by different authors. You wouldn't ask for the chronological order of all Cthulhu stories; you'd pick a writer you like. Do the same here—pick an artist or writer whose style appeals to you.

Where does Monster Hunter World fit in the Monster Hunter series order?

6 Jawaban2026-08-03 00:50:16
From a pure lore and monster roster perspective, World introduced a ton of new monsters while also bringing back fan favorites with stunning new visuals. Its place is as a 'greatest hits' album with a bunch of new tracks. Monsters like Anjanath and Odogaron became instant classics, while returning monsters like Rathalos and Diablos got complete visual overhauls. So in the order of monster design, it's a renaissance. The creatures feel more alive, more dangerous, and more integrated into their habitats than ever before. This set a new benchmark for what a Monster Hunter monster should be. Future games will be judged on whether their monsters feel as dynamic and believable as World's roster. Even the lower-tier monsters like Great Jagras have more personality and interesting behaviors than many old monsters. That attention to detail is World's legacy.
