How Can You Sync Bookmarks And History In Light Novel World App?
Cloud sync setup in Light Novel World never works for me, so my progress disappears across phone and tablet. Anyone figure out cross-device bookmarking?

Oh, I can actually help with this! I went digging through the settings a few months ago after I got a new phone. There isn't a built-in sync feature, which is super annoying. What I ended up doing was using the 'Backup & Restore' function hidden in the app's settings menu. You create a backup file on your old device, transfer it via email or cloud storage to the new one, and restore it there.
It's a manual process and it backs up everything—history, bookmarks, library—all at once. It's not true live syncing, but it's the only way to move your data between devices.

I think the fundamental issue is that we're trying to apply modern SaaS (Software as a Service) expectations to what is essentially a content scraper/viewer app. Its job is to find and display text. User accounts, cloud profiles, and real-time sync are a whole different layer of complexity that transforms it from a tool into a service.
That's a big leap. Maybe the app will never make that leap. Maybe we need to adjust our expectations and accept it for the simple, flawed, yet incredibly useful tool that it is, warts and all.

You know what's wild? Some of these fan translation sites themselves have better sync because they use WordPress accounts. If you read on the desktop site logged in, it sometimes tracks your progress. But the app, which pulls from those same sites, doesn't carry that over. The disconnect is frustrating. The data exists on the source server, but the app doesn't have a mechanism to link to it.
It feels like the app is a separate silo, which is probably a technical necessity for offline reading and ad delivery, but it isolates your user experience from the broader web.

I've noticed the app's 'Continue Reading' widget on the home screen is pretty good... on the device you used last. That widget is the only thing keeping me sane. It's always there, staring at me, reminding me of the one story I'm currently focused on. So I've adapted by hyper-focusing on one novel at a time until I finish it or take a long break.
It forces a kind of serialized discipline. No jumping between five different stories. One main novel, with the widget as my guide. It's a different way to read, imposed by the app's limitations.

I see people asking for sync, but has anyone considered the privacy angle? If the app doesn't make you create an account, it's not tracking your reading habits back to a personal profile. The moment they add accounts and cloud sync, they'll have a database of exactly what everyone reads, when, and for how long. Some folks might prefer the local, anonymous approach, even with the inconvenience.
That said, they could make it optional. Give users the choice: stay local and fast, or create a free account for the convenience of syncing. Best of both worlds.

Elise is an unemployed woman from the modern world and she transmigrated to the book "The Lazy Lucky Princess." She hated the book because of its cliché plot and the unexpected dark past of the protagonist-Alicia, an orphan who eventually became the Saint of the Empire. Alicia is a lost noble but because of her kind and intelligent nature the people naturally love and praise her including Elise.
When Elise wakes up in the body of the child and realizes that she was reincarnated to the book she lazily read, she struggles on how to survive in the other world and somehow meets the characters and be acquainted with them. She tried to change the flow of the story but the events became more dangerous and Elise was reminded why she hated the original plot.
Then Alicia reaches her fifteen birthday. The unexpected things happened when Elise was bleeding in the same spot Alicia had her wound. Elise also has the golden light just like the divine power of the Saint.

You need to have the chapter open at least once with a connection. So, if you're about to lose internet, you have to quickly open every single chapter you plan to read, which is a tedious pain. Not what I'd call 'support.'
I use Voice Dream Reader for audiobook versions of text-based novels, and its sync across iOS devices is perfect. I know the question was about reading, but if you consume light novels via text-to-speech while doing other tasks, this is a critical feature.
You can start listening on your phone, then continue from the exact same word on your iPad. It's a different mode of consumption, but for dense fantasy novels with long descriptions, listening can be a great way to get through them, and seamless sync makes it viable.
I'm curious about the data privacy aspect. When you use Kindle or Google Play Books sync, your reading progress and habits are being recorded on their servers. That's valuable data. Some people might not care, but for others, it's a concern.
Using a manual sync method with your own cloud storage (like a encrypted folder) gives you more control. You're trading convenience for privacy. It's a personal choice, but it's worth being aware of what you're trading for that seamless 'open and continue' experience.
