Who Is Viana Lie In The Novel?

Viana Lie is one of those characters who sneaks up on you in the best way possible—she starts off feeling like a background figure, but by the end of the novel, you realize she’s been pulling strings (or at least, quietly shaping the story) the whole time. In the book, she’s introduced as this enigmatic, almost ethereal presence, the kind of person who speaks in riddles but somehow makes you feel like she’s the only one really seeing the truth. There’s a fragility to her, but also this steeliness—like she’s survived something brutal and come out wiser, but not unscathed. Her backstory is doled out in fragments, which makes her all the more compelling; you’re constantly piecing together who she really is alongside the protagonist.
