A Fictitious Name Adopted By An Author Novels & Stories

That someone had found their way through it and come out the other side more themselves than they had ever been. If she published the book without her name on it — or with a name that was not her name, a pen name that put comfortable distance between the work and the person — then the book would still reach people. Would still be read. Would still do some version of what it was written to do. But it would not do the full version.

I was a little surprised because Lexus and Devon had the final say. I considered using a pen name, but in the end, I went with using my real name. I wish Dominic had been with me while I completed a significant milestone in my life.

And lastly, Sophia, who was nothing. At least, according to them. Her work as a writer was considered merely a hobby, a side job, not an achievement—especially in her family, which valued perfection in every member. Even when Sophia’s books sold millions of copies, none of them knew. Why? Because Sophia had decided from the beginning to use a pen name and keep her accomplishments to herself. Why? Because no one would care.

I am writing about you. I started writing our story over a year ago, every detail I can remember. I knew I shouldn't have made it public, but then it dawned on me how many people wanted to hear my story. Why shouldn't I tell? I'm not a total idiot. I have changed all names and places. I decided to publish the book as a fictional novel. And of course I have a pseudonym. What matters to me is, people will read it and perhaps understand why I still love the man who kept me prisoner.
