"I didn't know you were still alive"
I jumped up slightly. I've been doing that lately.

"Neither did I." I glared at her. "How have you been? You guys have been quiet without me" I smiled sweetly at her. I know she hated it while I do so.
"You're really clueless" She chuckled, shaking her head. Now that got me bothered as I straightened my back.
"You mean, I chose not to pay attention" I tried to control the situation.
"We've moved out of the compound. We moved to a more peaceful side" She shrugged casually

She didn't laugh, she just gave me this pitiful look. "I would be anyone but you right now." What she said sliced through me because even though she didn't know about the current situation, her words hit and I realized
