Slowly, I raised my hands up in surrender. I bit my quivering lips when I felt the tip of the gun at the back of my head.
"It's not what -"
Boom!
I was knocked out, falling like a dead log of wood on the ground.
I've been finally caught. Shit!
°•°
"The chase is over now because I finally got you, Grisella" A firm voice whispered in my ear.
Hearing a voice after a long while of being dumped on this cold ground, made me sit up properly.
I almost thought they forgot that they imprisoned someone here.
"Who are you?" I asked, turning around. Ah, fuck this blindfold. I would've ripped it off immediately I heard the voice, if my hands weren't tied to my back
"Still stubborn, no?" His dark chuckle echoed around the room, making shivers run down my spine. It sounded sinister yet intoxicating.
"How about you be a man and untie me so I can show you what I'm made of?" I challenged, shaking my hands in an attempt to loosen the rope wrapped around it.
I didn't know where all those confidence came from.
"Help her out, Russo" The man ordered.
Suddenly, the blindfold was being yanked off my eyes. I squinted my eyes, trying to adjust to the light. It sucked to be denied your vision.
"Behave yourself." Russo sneered before stepping aside. I remembered his face. He was the one who caught me and knocked me out, thereby bringing my almost complete mission to an end.
Mother fucker!
"Fuck off" I spat at him, my eyes searching for the other voice I heard. Suddenly, my hair is being yanked back, making me groan in pain
"You think I wouldn't catch you right?" The man whispered into my ears. I tried to get a glimpse of him by moving my eyes to the edge.
"Have you sat to consider if I let you catch me?" I was pushing him and I knew it but my mouth had a mind of its own and maybe it might have been trying to get us killed.
Cyrus said this mission was going to be smooth. How the fuck was I being tied up. Wait, was Cyrus okay? I thought internally to myself.
"You? Pfft!" The man scoffed, letting my hair go. Not without pushing it forward forcefully.
He didn't know I was counting it for him.
"You don't know me!" I challenged.
"Oh, I do. You're nothing but a thief. I thought that was obvious already" He chuckled, his footsteps drawing nearer to me.
"Untie me." I shook my hand rigorously at my back before shaking my face, trying to get my hair away from my view so I could see the bastard. I was only seeing his trouser and expensive shiny shoe.
My first impression of him was that he was stinking rich. I mean, someone who kept a lot of gold in his possession, he was definitely rich.
"Like hell, I'd do that" He scoffed, his hands sweeping my hair off my face.
"You?" I narrowed my eyes at him. He looked so familiar but I couldn't seem to recall where I had seen this face.
On a normal day, I would've asked this guy out. He looked too ravishing with his chiseled jaw and pointed nose to fit. Let's not even talk about his thin heart shaped red succulent lips. No, this man was a walking demi-god with his dull amber eyes which looked like it could see through anything or anyone.
My eyes dropped down to his body, taking in the way his shirt hugged his perfectly sculptured body. I was too busy admiring him, well, until he spoke - his annoying voice piercing my eardrum.
"Yes, me. The owner of the gold you've been stealing" He sneered, eyeing me as he crouched down to my level, as if to show off his beautiful face more. More like, rub in his good looks in my face.
Though all he did was eye me but I couldn't ignore this 'danger' sign that hovered over him physically. Maybe it was the tattoo seeping out of this half buttoned shirt.
"How about we make a deal?" I said, smiling at him. I still tried so hard to ransack my brain for some kind of hint as to where I met this man
"Oh, she wants to make a deal with me, Russo" The man laughed darkly, turning to look at Russo who scoffed scornfully at me. I glared at him in return, letting him know that I didn't like him too. "Let me hear it"
"Since I was unsuccessful this time, how about I promise to never come back and you let me go." Puckering out my lips, I blinked innocently at him.
I, myself wondered where I was getting this courage from.
He bursted into fits of laughter, making me furrow my eyebrows at him in confusion. This was funny to him? I shook my head at the thought.
"What am I? God of mercy?" He scoffed, frowning at me. I
"You can act like one for today" I tried again, blinking my eyes innocently at him
"You've been stealing from me for 5 months! 5 months, Grisella. You think I'd let you go just like that after causing me huge losses?" He yelled, roughly holding my chin up. "You must be a fucking joker" He spat scornfully.
"I can work out the value of the gold and..."
"Oh trust me, Vixen, you'll surely work it out" He sneered, his amber eyes dug furiously into mine.
"Since that's settled, can you untie me now?" I asked softly.
I knew i was being unreasonable right then but I also knew these people were dangerous and I had to get out of here. I wondered what made me agree to this in the first place.
Also, i had to meet up with Cyrus so we could think of how to escape this mess.
"So you can run to your poor boyfriend, Cyrus?" He laughed.
"How... How did you know about Cyrus?" My voice quivered, exposing the fear I was trying to keep in check
Cyrus was my only family. He was the only one who showed me genuine love even though sometimes he was brutal. But that was only when I made him angry. I deserved it.
"The Cyrus who ratted you out?" Russo scoffed from the corner. My heartbeat palpitated, hitting hard on my chest.
"No, that can't be." As if on cue, Cyrus walked in with the bag of gold. My eyes lit up as I saw him but that didn't last long as I got a glimpse of Cyrus facial expression. It was cold.
He looked different.
"Are those the gold she stole?" The man asked Cyrus, smirking at me.
"Yes, Boss. Good thing I caught her on time and reported it immediately" Cyrus said, looking at me with no emotion on his face. As he spoke, my heart constricted in pain. I wanted to cry out but I wasn't going to give him that satisfaction.
"You see?" The man said, proving his point to me. "You know, you think you're smart" Turning to face Cyrus, the man nodded at Russo.
Russo smirked evilly before he hit Cyrus down with his elbow. Cyrus groaned, falling on his knee.
"What.. what... Jesus! Don't kill me please!" Cyrus eyes went wide when the man brought out a gun from his pocket. I, myself was shocked and dumbfounded. I didn't know if I wanted the man to spare Cyrus' life or kill him.
The only thing that ran through my head was how Cyrus chose to betray me when I did this for both of us.
"No, My name is Julian. Not Jesus" The man, Julian, then smiled, pointing the gun at Cyrus. "Every time I kept you in charge of my deals, you always let your little fucking girlfriend steal from us. Always."
He stopped walking close to him then turned to face me. "Maybe I should just kill her since she's the one who stole from me right?" The gun swung towards me snapping me out of the thought of where I've heard the name "Julian". My eyes went wide when his finger found its way to the trigger. I felt a cold sweat run down my spine.
"Yes, she's the one who stole from you" Cyrus said immediately, pointing at me. My eyes widened at the outright betrayal
"Cyrus, you imp!" I charged at him, as I crawled on my knee to meet him, ignoring the gun being pointed at me. I just wanted to strangle him.
"Stop right there." Julian placed his foot in front of me, stopping me, then turned to Cyrus and spoke, "But you orchestrated it and you also let it happen so, say hi to my fucking grandfather" With that, a loud boom rang around the building. I watched Cyrus drop to the ground, lifeless.
Oh my goodness!
"You... You killed him" My lips trembled as I spoke. My eyes focused on Cyrus blood which was spreading out.
"Your turn, Step Sister"
Julian's POV"Gotten anything from the friend?"He rolled his eyes at me. "That's not the reason I'm with her"I glared at him from where I sat. "Want me to send you back to France since you're of no use to me here?" A devilish smirk curled up my lips. "Or would you like me telling my woman how her -"Caleb raised his hands up in surrender. "Okay, fine. I have something" He took a seat. "Don't ever threaten me with France. That place is - Just don't threaten me with France"I shrugged. "I'll try, not promising." My face turned back into a serious scowl. "Mhmm-hmm?"He relaxed his back on the chair, smirking at me. "What?""Don't fucking mess with me, Caleb" I frowned at him, about to charge at him and snap his neck. He rolled his eyes, folding his arms. "You're so serious" He groaned, throwing his head back. "Caleb..." I started, about to put it out to him."Fine. She also works for Vector" He blurted out. My eyes went wide at the revelation."J.. Josie?" I asked, to be sure we were
Grisella's POVI was going to confront him"Where to?"Groaning out loud, I rolled my eyes. "What are you? My personal bodyguard?" He scoffed, taking a seat on the bed. "Doesn't answer my question, Vixen"I tried to pick my shirt from the bed because I was only on my bra. He held my hand making my breath hitch. My whole body froze as that familiar spark ran along my spine. "I'm going to -"A soft gasp escaped my lips, followed by an 'oof' sound and then my butt crashed in his hard thigh. I glared at him but that didn't last for long as my body tensed from his touch. He traced the tip of his finger along the scar on my stomach. My throat felt dry, my mind went blank"You're still beautiful" He whispered in my ear. "Vixen, I don't want you to be hurt"I blinked once and then twice and then jerked slightly, getting myself. "I'm just going to Josie's -"He chuckled, cutting me off. "When would you start telling me the truth, Vixen? Even when I'm so close to the truth, you lie to me?"
"Do you think Uncle would hurt me?" The line was dead for a while. I could only hear soft breaths leaving her mouth. "Why?"A very simple question but yet so hard to give an answer. "It's just - Nevermind""Gris, only your heart knows the answer to that. If you're beginning to doubt then maybe that's your answer?" Josie said and it just hit somewhere I had never doubted Uncle before and now I'm doubting so, that's something. Nah.I had let Julian fuck with my head. "Thank you." I told her sincerely. "Uh, Josie... Can you not tell Uncle I asked you this?"She chuckled. "I'm not that close to Uncle anymore. I'm beginning to figure things - ah, my life... Yeah, my life"I raised my eyebrow but she couldn't see me. Why was she stuttering? Something was going on and I had to talk to Uncle."Is there anything I need to know? Do you have anything to tell me?" I asked her, taking a seat on the bed. I had been pacing back and forth in the room since I woke up. "Yeah... I mean, no. No, not
Grisella's POV"I want her arrested"They nodded. "It's just that there's no solid evidence but we'd try our -""My condition is not a solid evidence? Are you guys fucking kidding me?" I eyed him in disgust. "Oh! It's because I'm placing a charge on the almighty Don Devani's child""It's not that. It's just -""Bullshit. You know what, I made a mistake. I'll just find my way around this shit." I dismissed them. My head panged hard so I rested it on the bed. The strong smell of spirit and drugs dived through my nostril almost making me throw up. "Ma'am -""I don't want you to press charge again. I will handle it" I hissed harshly, eyeing the two police men"What's going on?" Julian held the door open looking between the police men and I.A small smile crept to my lips when I saw him. Wait, why was I smiling? I bit my lips taking in his sweet smell that had filled the room, covering the strong hospital smell. Marry men with strong perfumes and good colognes. Wait. Marry? What was I s
Julian's POV."What the fuck did you just say?" He eyed me up and down, blood dripping down the corner of his lips. "I... I..""You seem not to understand the situation you're in, Big boy" I chuckled, turning my ring in my hands. "I ... He'd kill me" He cried like a small child but the disgusting type who cried with spit dropping down their mouth "Not if you get out of here alive" I nodded at Russo. "I wanted to do this the calm way but you had to.""Ferdinand Jedro. Age 37. One wife by name Jessica Jedro and your sweet little child Amara Jedro" Russo smirked at him, licking his lips. Russo was just the right man to be my right hand. I can't even lie. He had more psychotic scary facial expressions than I did. He also was ready to do anything I asked."No. No" Jedro shook his head at me. I'm calling him the shortest name. I ain't gat no shitty time to call long shit. My hands were pushing me to hit him more and relieve myself off this anger I had inside me. His face was all purple
Julian's POV"Don't do this to me." I kept repeating as I held her close to my chest, rocking her backward and forward."Please" My voice came out softly as I kissed her head. "She's.. she's getting cold." I spoke up. "She's getting cold. Drive fucking fast or I swear to God""She'll be fine, Cuz" Caleb said from the front seat. Josie didn't come with us. She was busy beating the shit out of Hannah before we left.My heart felt empty and dark. A huge black hole sat in my heart. It was like my soul was drifting out of my body.I wanted to cry. I wanted to scream. I wanted to kill Hannah but mostly, I want my baby girl to be alright. That's all that matters "Tell Russo to contact Devani and tell him that I wouldn't let this one slide" When the car stopped in front of the hospital building, I told Caleb before carrying my girl out of the car."Yes Cousin" I heard Caleb say."Emergency!" I heard a nurse say and in less than few minutes, they brought a stretcher for her but I wouldn't le
