I sit in my office going over the travel arrangements for Kendra and Ellie. I call Kendra, “Kendra, this is Max. I’m sending you the travel information. It is all done.”
“Wow, that was fast. I wasn’t expecting you to do it,” she admits.
“When you return, make sure Ellie knows her worth.” I tell her.
Kendra agrees, then we get off the phone. I go to lunch, but I can’t eat. Ellie has made a chicken dish. It is one of my favorites, but I can’t eat. My mind keeps going back to the fact my father lied to me and that he won’t let Ellie divorce me.
Gwen comes into my office the moment I return from lunch. “Your wife made it to the second round of interviews. Do you want me to have them skip the formalities?”
“No, I had you put her under Davidson for a reason. I want Ellie to know she got the job from her hard work, not because she is my wife,” I tell Gwen.
“She is getting the job because she is your wife. I sent an email to the hiring manager. He knows Ellie is getting the job for sure. W
