Emily felt conflicted as she sat in the pack house, watching as Allen and Garrett spoke in hushed tones. She knew that the truth about Davies was weighing on them, but she couldn't bring herself to ask what it was. In her heart, she knew that she couldn't be the one to reveal the truth to Allen, or to anyone else for that matter.
If only Allen had stayed away from the pack house, Emily thought. She had no power to keep her away, and blaming Davies for not being more careful wasn't fair. After all, Garrett didn't seem to mind. Who was she to complain?
"So what did she do?" Lois asked, interrupting Emily's thoughts.
"Lots of homework. I had to tell her there won't be class tomorrow. She looked annoyed," Emily said, leaving out the rest of what actually happened.
Lois laughed. "I would have loved to see her facial expression."
Emily shrugged. "She looked a bit mad."
"More than mad, if you ask me. I know Allen, I know what she's capable of. I'm surprised, though."
"About what?" Emily aske
