Sebastian’s POV
Separate? Divorce? I couldn’t process the words. My mind spinned as I stared at Emma, who stood in front of me with tears running down her face. Had I really pushed her to do this? Was this really all my fault?
“Sebastian, I just need your signature, and it will all be over,” she said, her voice breaking on the last word. Her teary eyes stared straight at me. The determination in her stare was like a wall I couldn’t climb, and yet all I wanted was to break through it…break through to her.
Before I could even open my mouth to respond, she turned abruptly, her sobs muffled as she buried her face in her hands. And then she ran…ran like she couldn’t stand to be near me for even another second.
“Emma, wait!” I called out, but my voice barely escaped my throat. My legs felt weak and like they were glued to the spot as I watched her disappear down the hallway, her figure rounding the corner.
