‘You are not even my real mom'
My fingers subconsciously tightened around the pencil, pressing it hard against my drawing book, as those words replayed in my head.
After I left Jeremy's school earlier, I took a cab to the park to clear my head.
“Don't let her ruin your mood, Jess. There are more important things to think about.” I whispered to myself.
My lips curled in a smile at the beautiful design I recently started working on. It was a drawing of a beautiful fitted gown.

“I had no idea you were an artist.” I heard a familiar voice, and the next second, Mr. Hall stood in front of me, hands inside pockets, eyes on my book.
“My goodness!” I rose to my feet, my heart still racing. “Mr. Hall… Uhm… I… it's good to see you.” I stuttered, my breath galloping, unsure of what to say.
