Violet's POV
I stood frozen as all eyes were on me like they had been waiting. I couldn't recognize anyone on either side of the table.
They were about six in number with two ladies, their aura screaming powerful.
They all had a scornful look that made it hard to breathe.
For a moment, I wanted to step back and crawl back into my bed, but then,
"My lady," Lia muttered behind me, clasping my hand gently.
It somehow managed to subdue the fear that consumed me. I squeezed gently, reminding myself I had thick skin.
Taking in much-needed air, I straightened and took another step forward: right, left, right. I reminded myself how to walk until I got to the table.
"Well, the rumors are true. She is human," one of the ladies spoke first, with no judgment in her tone, just a quiet observation.
"I see why Axel was hesitant about it. I almost feel bad for him."
