Emily's POV
“Emily!” My mum called to me at the top of her lungs.
I yelped away from the stranger to see my mum, approaching Mr. Carter and me in a very furious state. The last time I saw my mum this angry was... Now? This was why I was so scared, because even when I disobeyed her by giving Penny milk, she wasn't this angry looking.
“Mum?” I mumbled a response, shaky to my pants, and unsure of what she was going to do to me next, or even Mr. Carter.
Beads of sweat broke out from every pore, almost soaking my dress as a result. And as my mum got closer, I went rigid on the spot, thinking about the next best action... First, I could run for my safety or secondly, I could just wait it out.
“What are you doing Emily?” She looked at me, still obviously angry.
“I... I helped... His...” I stuttered, more scared than I imagined.
My mum wasn't the type to be spontaneous, hence it was possible to guess her next action, but right now, even guessing she would eat me alive is a nice try.
