Anna’s pov
I laughed while pacing around her little hut as I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
“No. This is bullshit,” I said with a laugh. “I don’t believe this.”
Fate. Chosen. Not everything is planned.
“That’s enough. I’m not one to believe in such nonsense. And I definitely don’t believe some weak little human was chosen over me.”
Marella sat still, holding her cup of tea calmly like nothing I said mattered. She simply looked at me with those old eyes. Eyes that had seen too much.
I pointed at her, shaking with anger. “You sit here in this dusty house talking about stars and magic. But I know what this really is. Selene is just lucky. Or maybe she tricked someone. Maybe she used some spell I don’t know about.”
She said nothing. Just took another slow sip of her tea.
“I will not,” I said louder now, “sit back and let some random idiot take my place. I was born to be Luna of this pack. Everyone knows it. Dante and I—” I stopped myself, my chest tightening.
