Luther's POV
“Aren't you going to tell her the truth?” Dos asked as soon as he saw me.
We were discussing the incident involving Jace, and we were currently on the rooftop of the hospital where Jace was confined.
I looked at him and shook my head. “I don't want to lie to her, but if lying means keeping her safe and preventing her from being scared, then I’m left with no choice.”
I hate lying, but I feel I have no other option. I can’t just tell her that her life is in danger because of me, she would distance herself from me. I’m sure of it.
I suffered five years ago without her, and I don’t think I can survive again this time, knowing that I might never have the chance to be with her again.
I can’t live without her, but she can live without me.
That day, when I received a call from one of my men—a man I hired to watch over her discreetly—I was devastated to hear that her personal driver had been ambushed. I almost fainted, but somehow, I felt relieved because she wasn’t in that car.
