While enjoying Alina's company, I felt a deep connection to her. However, a part of my heart remained attached to Lara, possibly due to the eternal commitment I had made to her. After the divorce, I considered shifting my focus to building a future with Alina.
After some time, I noticed Lara entering the banquet hall with a somber expression. I thought she would be joining her family, but she walked in my direction.
"Magnus, I need to speak with you," she said, her gaze fixed on me.
"I don't think there's anything to discuss, Lara," I replied brusquely.
"Wait a moment, Magnus. Please read this letter from our servant. She was on the verge of death when I reached her. But before she passed, she requested that I retrieve this letter hidden behind her pillow," Lara's voice trembled.
The revelation crashed over me like a tidal wave, pulling me under into a sea of regret and resentment after I read Fiona's letter. I had believed Alina’s accusations, and let her words poison my mind
