Ralph glared at Connor as soon as the words left his lips. “I thought I told you she was out of reach and that you shouldn’t ask her out.”
Charlotte stared at her brother. “Come on, Ralph. It’s only dinner, and besides, I haven’t had the chance to look around the city.”
Connor was grinning at Ralph while Ralph was glaring back at him. Charlotte wondered why they were at each other's throats when they were supposed to be best friends.
“Why are you so worked up, Ralph?” Earl questioned. “Charl can be friends with your friends. Shouldn’t you be happy that she’s going out with someone you grew up with and know so well?”
Ralph frowned. “Hell no. Connor shouldn’t be taking my little sister out to dinner. We could all eat here.”
Charlotte chuckled. “It’s only dinner. We’ll be back soon.” She ushered Connor out of the house and shut the door before Ralph could complain.
