Chapter: Chapter 4
DREALight slowly crept into my window, sun rays scattering across my blanket. My eyes squinted at the sudden intrusion, my hands reaching up to rub my puffy eyes.I barely slept last night. All I could think about was what my life was supposed to turn into and the drastic changes that would come with it.My unanswered questions never left my thoughts. Not for one second.I was going to get my answers today.Yawning and stretching my limbs which felt cramped, I slowly sat up and reached out for my phone next to my bed. I turned it on and looked at the time. 8:30 am. I had a lecture at 10 am so an hour and a half ought to do for preparations.I peeled the blanket off my body and placed my feet on the cold hardwood floors. Getting up, I stared at the mess of a person I was in the mirror.Tangled dark brown curls.Dull brown eyes.Dark circles from the lack of sleep. That scar on my forehead.Instinctively, I reached for the scar and traced its outline, the dark line stretching along my

DREAPhilip avoided my gaze completely and glanced at his mother.“I never agreed to this.” I thought out loud.I can’t get married to a stranger. I will not. Yeah, my life here was bad, but who knew what it would be like if I married a stranger?I’m not willing to take that risk.“Drea. Don’t ruin this” Ivanka gritted out while smiling, wrapping her fingers around my forearm and gripping tightly. If it were any other day, it probably would’ve made me cower in fear but today, that was just not happening.“Mr Smith, I am not going to marry anyone. I did not even agree to this.” I cried out, my vision becoming blurred by tears. I was desperate for someone to tell me that this was just a huge joke.“I'm afraid to say that this is a legally binding contract. One that was signed by your father before he died. It cannot be breached easily.” He explained.“Her father?” Philip spoke for the first time since this whole thing started. Oh so now he can speak?“Yes. It was agreed upon and signed

DREA“Miss Drea Hart?” He asked, looking at me with an unreadable expression on his face. The familiar churning I felt in my stomach settled in. Somehow, this man’s presence made me nervous.“Yes. That’s me.” I said slowly, my eyes staring at his with caution. He cleared his throat once more, extending his arm out for a handshake.“It’s nice to meet you, Miss Hart. I am Andrew Smith — but you can call me Mr Smith.” He introduced.I stared at his outstretched hand like it was a foreign object I wasn’t supposed to touch, thinking about the reasons why the man dressed in a suit — Mr Smith was talking to me.Ivanka clearing her throat seemed to bring me back to reality as I looked at her, her eyes gesturing towards the man’s outstretched hand and nudging her head towards it. She wanted me to shake it.I wiped my palms on my jeans and slowly shook him, laughing nervously to break the tension.“It’s nice to meet you too Mr Smith.” I finally responded, his cold but firm hand releasing mine.

Chapter: Chapter 1
DREA“We can’t keep hiding this from her anymore,” He whispered harshly. My eyes gazed up to the door, my ears perched at the hushed voices coming from behind it.“Yes, we can. That is the only reason I kept her here. She would’ve been kicked out years ago if not for the agreement.” Another voice answered. Were they even trying to be quiet? And what were they talking about? What agreement?“Drea doesn’t deserve any of this, Mom.” He sighed, his voice slightly louder and I could sense the frustration in his voice. My eyes widened at the sound of my name. What did I have to do with this?“Would you keep your voice down? She cannot know about this. At least not until he gets here.” she hushed. I heard footsteps retreating from the door.I pulled my eyebrows together in confusion. What were they keeping from me? Who was coming? I contemplated between eavesdropping on their conversation or just continuing with my homework. Who was I kidding? I heard my name so I couldn’t stop listening.I
