CHAPTER EIGHTY THREE
JoJo's heart was beating a tattoo in her chest all the while that JoJo attended to Jordan.
Adam had left and it was just the two of them in the house.
Of course, it had all to with how battered he really was and nothing with her excitement at having him back home.
At least that's what she told herself and hopefully she'd learn to believe it.
In all the craziness in the past twenty four hours, she'd barely had the luxury of thinking about them, about him and what he must be going through, she'd been more focused on her family and it's chaos.
But now, with the whole fire over and all, she could finally take a breath.
She couldn't even stomach the thought of having anything happen to him, she loves him that much, and if he hadn't come back from this, she wouldn't have forgiven herself for pushing him so much.
He groaned even as she tried to help him wash his body, she could only imagine how much pain he was in with all the purpling patch

The doctor had a lot of things to say to Jordan, a lot of warnings and a lot of instructions to be followed for quick recovery. And it'd take the opening of hell and the release of Hades and his minions to make him do any of them. He has his life and his company to run and those are the things that won't stay and watch him waste two weeks on bed rest. Well, except with the right incentives, he might be tempted to give in for half the time. But for the most part, he wanted out already, nothing will be keeping him in bed for that long. He'd agreed to get the man off his back. His phone rang by his bedside, ramping up his headache beyond measure and he wanted to curse the devil out of whoever the caller was. She did come, much later, but it wasn't for the reasons he'd had in mind, it was written all over her face and he could read that face like it was his favorite book. Something was wrong, something he couldn't put his fingers on and she wasn't up to talking about it with him and he lacked the force to push her to spill yet. Their relationship at the moment was fragile and he was of the opinion the he might make her snap under his intensity if he pushed too hard and she might make good of the threat that was left lying low for the mean time but definitely brewing hot on the surface. Meghan had it hard trying to make up for the deceit she'd fed to her daughter, and Bree was having it harder accepting the way things have become. In the day, shee spends her energy working alongside Brooks to take care of everyone and at night, after she's put Riley to sleep, she creeps into the arms of Jordan for the gift of oblivion. He might not know it but he was a source of peace and escape for her and for that, she owed him. He worried about her, she knew that, but she had nothing to offer him, not even an explanation because she had none, at least not now. She'd offer it, when she has the answers she needed. Her mother was still struggling with her voice, it was taking too longer to get it after silencing it for a fucking decade, and as such making getting the answers she wanted a difficult feat. And for some reasons, she had no inclination to look into the secrets that have been buried for the entire decade on her own.
