Undertaker

Chaerin was getting impatient and tapped her foot in annoyance as the long, white haired freak in front of her sat in a seance. She was in Country A and searched the country all day to find the guy. Finally, after she managed to track him and beat the crap out of him, she was let into his new place.

She had been waiting for over an hour but the weirdo would not budge. Her patience was stretching thin and she wanted to strangle the man. Clearly, he was doing it deliberately.

"Hey you!" she voiced out. "Hurry it up! It's time for my drama!"

"Shh…" the man silenced her. He was in his fifties. His white hair reached up to his waist and he wore an outdated poncho with beads on it. His jeans were ripped and his hat was covering his eyes as well.

"Oh you harbinger of darkness," he mumbled. "Show yourself!"

He shouted out the last words, startling Chaerin. He was looking so intently into his crystal ball that ever Chaerin peeked into it curiously, trying to see what the man was looking at.

After staring at it for a few minutes, the man finally announced, "I see nothing."

Chearin snapped. Grabbing him by the collar, she shook him hard.

"So you mean to say that you wasted my precious time with your stupid ball?" she yelled at him.

"I had warned you that it is not a foolproof method," he said in a cheery tone.

Chearin wanted to throttle him.

"Undie," she gritted her teeth. "I need to find him! You know that the only way I can get Joonjae to bed me is by finding that guy!"

"It's not my fault that he is an elusive soul," Undertaker sighed. "He has been around for over a hundred years! He's known for his devious methods and tricks. A mere shaman like me cannot find him that easily."

"I know you're just being stingy!" Chaerin accused him. "I'm gonna beat out the information from you!"

Even though Chaerin cannot touch humans in general, shamans were a different case. Since shamans were born with the ability to interact with dead souls, they can naturally see and feel the spirits even without contracts. Undertaker was one of the best shamans in the country. He was the one who bound Joonjae and Chaerin's marriage contract.

"It's not my fault that you can't seduce your husband," Undertaker gagged. "I mean all you have to do is strip in front of him and he'll melt like any other men."

"I tried!" Chaerin complained. "I tried everything! Even bound myself naked on the bed! But he would not budge."

She let go of his collar and fell on the floor, lamenting her luck.

"The guy has a lot of willpower," Undertaker nodded, feeling impressed by Joonjae's restrain.

"If this goes on, I'll remain a virgin ghost!" Chaerin cried. "I have to find that soul fast!"

"Patience, my child," he said. "I will find him. It's just a matter of time."

"I don't have time," Chaerin gritted. "My twenty fifth birthday is a  year and a half away! If I don't lose my V-card by then, I'll become a demon!"

Chaerin sulked in a corner. Undertaker pitied the girl. He had known her when she was alive and even in death, she was the same rebellious but kindhearted girl.

He patted her on the head.

"Joonjae is a man of his words," he consoled her. "He won't let you become a demon. I'm sure he is simply prolonging his time with you."

Chaerin groaned. "He shouldn't be doing that," she said in a small voice. "The longer we stay together, the more we'll be unable to separate. I'm dead and he's alive. We shouldn't be together at all! I'll have to go away someday. If he gets attached to me then will he be able to live without me?"

Undertaker sighed. If only Joonjae was not too late in saving her…

He was about to console the girl when suddenly, the crystal ball lit up. He hurried over and looked into it.

"What is it?" Chaerin asked curiously.

"It's...him," Undertaker replied. "He's taken a new host."

Chaerin's eyes widened in horror.

"A new host?" she whispered. "Who is it? Can you identify him?"

"The picture is too hazy," Undertaker replied. "It's hard to tell. But he has a new host now. He'll strike once again. After all, he is after Joonjae. He will come for him soon."

"Is there any way to find out who the person is?" Chaerin asked.

Undertaker looked hard into the ball, searching for clues.

"There is some sort of mark on the person's back," he said, peering into the ball. "A tattoo, maybe. Looks like a maple leaf."

"A maple leaf?" Chaerin frowned.

"Yes," Undertaker said. "It's on his back. I may be mistaken but that's what it looks like."

"I can't go around stripping every guy in town to search for a tattoo!" Chaerin rolled her eyes. "But it's a start. If he is after Joonjae, he will approach us on his own."

"But you have to be careful as well," Undertaker said in a sharp tone. "He poses the most danger to you. You were the only one who saw his full form when you were alive. No doubt, he'll come after you if he finds out you're now a virgin ghost. He may even…"

"He may even do what?" Chaerin demanded.

"Nothing," Undertaker said quickly. "He just...may try to harm you. Just be careful and stay out of his sight."

Chaerin was confused by his words but did not stretch the matter.

"When are you returning to the country?" she asked him.

"Soon," he answered. "I have some business here. A boy got possessed by a demon and I'll need to exorcise it."

"A demon…" Chaerin said thoughtfully. Will that become her future? Will she too turn into a mindless demon who will possess humans and live an empty life?

Looking at her sad face, Undertaker let out a sigh. "We won't let you become a demon," he assured her. "Joonjae will fulfill his end of the bargain. Just be patient."

Chaerin smiled at him. "I know," she said. "Joonjae never broke his promises to me. He'll not let me become a demon. I just wish he does it sooner…"

Couples are strange, Undertaker thought shaking his head. It was a good thing he remained single. Relationships are complicated in general but the love between a ghost and a human was just too much to handle.

"I'll head back home," Chaerin sighed, getting up from the seat. "I'll inform Joonjae of what I found out."

"Good luck!" he winked at her. She smiled and vanished in thin air.

Undertaker looked at the crystal ball again. The picture was still hazy but he could tell that the time was approaching fast.

"We'll wait for you," he said in a cold tone. "Park Haewon."
