Ella looked around like a lost puppy as she wondered where she was to go next in the huge Mansion. She was looking for room 63 for the first ranked people. The first ranked people were the people of higher position who worked with Death lord. She was asked to serve them lunch and she forgot the directions she was given.
While she walked around the corridor, she looked around until her eyes met with someone at the opposite end of the corridor clad in white rope and black pants.
For a second she was enthralled by the sight of the person before her and couldn't take her eyes off him.
The Death Lord looked at the young maid whose eyes met with his but she hadn't taken her eyes off as she was supposed to. Instead she kept looking at him and that baffled him.
It was well known to the people of Narlands not to look at the eyes of the Death Lord as it could lead to your death. Everyone knew who he was and the consequences of looking into his eyes; it was as if you were daring him and he hated that.
For some reason he was stunned too, she was looking at him as if she didn't know him and he stared back at her wanting to know what she'd do next. Her eyes for some reason were appealing to him.
She sure did have guts, for as soon as any of the maids eyes met his, they were quick to take their eyes off and bow down but instead she was doing the exact opposite. She wasn't trembling too.
"Hey!" He suddenly heard. He was shocked, Hey? Did she just refer to him as Hey? He asked himself. For some reason he felt the urge to laugh out loud.
He said nothing as he watched her walk towards him. He was curious to know what she had to say, as much as he was surprised, he felt disrespected.
"Hey," she said again but he said nothing. The smile on her face showed off her pearly white teeth. "I was wondering if you could tell me where the first ranked people rooms are located, I was ordered to give them food."
The Death Lord said nothing. She had the guts to question him, no one did that and went free, he was sure to give them back an uncompleted body.
"I'm talking to you," she said.
She suddenly gasped. Maybe he was a deaf and dumb and she had hurt him, she thought to herself.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't know you can't speak and hear but you understand sign language, right?" she asked him.
The Death Lord looked at her with a blank expression. Did she just indirectly call him a deaf and dumb? He was starting to get riled up but he maintained his calm composure.
"I'm so sorry, but if you could please show me where the first ranked people room are located I'd be very glad. I am new here, so I don't really know how things work around here," she explained herself politely to the Death Lord.
He said nothing but somehow his legs pushed him as he started to walk, making her follow his trail. He was curious to hear what else she had to say.
"Thanks so much, you know I am really scared, I was told not to be caught lurking around or I could be killed by the Death Lord. I mean, is he that scary?" She asked the Death Lord himself.
He found it offensive but he said nothing. "I am curious to see the face of the Death lord to be honest and seriously why would he carry on with the title Death Lord? He could use something better other than scaring people with his name, don't you think?" She giggled but he remained quiet.
"Anyways forget that, I'm guessing you can't probably hear me or maybe you can but you can't speak, my name is Ella Fitzgerald. I am from the country of Agric," she introduced herself to the Death Lord.
Suddenly he halted and pointed towards a room. "I'm guessing this must be it. Thank you," she said.
Before she knocked on the door, she turned to ask him a question. "What is your name?" The Death lord made no attempt to say anything making Ella shrug.
She knocked on the door, the door was immidately opened by Cyprus, the chief of bodyguard. Once Cyprus saw the Death Lord, he was quick to bow.
"My Lord!" he greeted.
Ella watched in confusion for a moment, she wondered what was happening. Was this man she was talking to earlier a master?
She mentally face palmed herself, she was surely going to be in trouble. She was told not to speak anyhow once she was in the royal mansion by Mimi yet she had just spoken some bad things about the Death Lord.
"I'm so sorry my Lord, what brings you here?" Cyprus asked.
The Death Lord looked at Ella who seemed to be lost in thought, then he cleared his throat. "I was told to show the room of the first ranked people by," he pointed at Ella, "her."
Ella eyes widened in shock. She was confused, she didn't know he could speak, he acted deaf earlier and now he was speaking.
"Not fair!" she muttered. "So you can speak yet you said nothing on our way here."
Cyprus eyes widened when he heard the tone the maid used on the Death Lord. She was speaking casually to him when no one dared do that. He was starting to fear for her life.
"You!" Cyprus pointed at Ella with his index finger. Knowing he would surely be blamed for watching the Death Lord being insulted in his presence, he shouted, "You sure don't know anything right? Do you know who you are talking to? Do you know who you ordered around? Are you new here? Don't you have manners in front of the Lord?"
Ella was confused. "I'm sorry, Sir. I know you are one of the first ranked people working with the Death lord and calling this my new friend who I met a few minutes ago your lord, he must be related to the..."
Realisation dawned on her. He was related to the Death Lord and she had just bad-mouthed him in front of his relation.
"Your friend? Are you insane?" Cryrus shouted. "Show respect to the Death lord himself." He deadpanned.
At Cyprus words, the tray in her hands fell to the floor.
"Death lord?" Ella asked wanting to confirm if what she heard was right. She turned to look at the Death lord in front of her.She remembered what she told him earlier; she told him his nickname was bad and had suggested he chose something better not knowing she was speaking to the man himself. Was that why he didn't say anything? She asked herself. She also thought he was deaf and dumb. Her eyes widened in realisation and she felt like collapsing that moment. She has finally come to meet her end by speaking without thinking. No one had trespass and escaped from the clutch of the Death lord without getting killed or loosing a part of their body.Cyprus grabbed Ella arms in an harsh way and she winced in pain. "You bitch! You sure don't know anything at all!" Cyprus spat out."You will surely meet your end! My Lord, what should we do with her?" Cyprus asked.Immidately Ella fel
Once Ella got into her room, she crumbled to the floor as she curled her self, hugging her knees tightly with tears in her eyes. This was the most terrifying day of her life. She had never been in a situation before. She should have known he was of the higher class and ignored him but she was so adamant in making friends as all of the maid were giving her attitude ever since she started working in the royal mansion. She should have known that something was wrong and now she had crossed paths with the Death lord and worse of all, spoken words she shouldn't have to him.Mimi warned her, she warned her not to speak recklessly and to stay to herself alone. This was what Mimi meant and now she understood. She looked at her arms, there were red marks around them, gotten from the ropes they used to tie her to the log. Her wrist was bruised because the wicked man had kicked her so hard. She stiffl
Ella washed the dishes while isolating herself from the others who had shown dislike for her from the first day she started work.As much as she tried not paying attention to them, she couldn't help it as their whispers could be heard and their annoying giggle."The Death lord is a snack, I am so filled now that I took a glimpse of him. He is so sexy!" One of the maids squealed with excitement laced on her tone."You know, I really want to see his eyes, I'm sure they must be adoring," The other maid said. After the incident that happened two days ago, Ella was told the do's and don't of Narlands and one of it was to never look at the eyes of the Death lord. The thought annoyed her, was he a god or what? She was told looking at his eyes was a mean of daring him to do his worse. She was also told to not be caught saying mean things about the Death lord for he was the savior
Ella followed the rest of the maid into the dinning room. She was nervous, she was starting to find it hard to breath.Once they entered the big dinning room with a long table and over 15 chairs surrounding the table, her eyes widened. She had never seen a dinning room this big before with beautiful wallpaper beautifying the room. A chandelier was hunged at far end of the ceiling with unique decorations that were captivating to the eyes.Twitching her eyes, she looked away, gently placing the dishes on the table before the arrival of the Death lord. As soon as they were done, all the maids stood at the side of the room waiting for the Death lord arrival. After some minutes, the humongous door was opened by two guards dressed in their guard attire, then the death lord entered.Silence! Absolute silence!Nothing could be heard not even his footstep. He walked as if he was a ghost, looking at
Ella didn't make an attempt to take her eyes off. She looked at him and for a moment she felt sad for him, he was a monster. He enjoyed killing for a living as if lives could be made so easily. There was no way she'd stay in Narlands for long, she was going to leave after getting her first pay.The Death lord walked away, with the guards following him. The maids soon rushed back to the dinning room to clear the table.Once they were back to the kitchen, they started to gossip. "Lima is gone, just like that?" Cheryl spoke baffled."That suits her, next time she wouldn't misbehave in front of the Death lord and that's if there is a next time," Naomi spat out."That's true, she is always acting as if she was one step ahead of us and giving off that arrogant vibe," Layla seconded.Ella felt disappointed in them, weren't they all gossip partner? They felt no remorse over the de
Stella and Cheryl smirked when they saw Ella walking towards their directions, they had ulterior motives while approaching her. With a fake smile plastered on their face, they walked towards her. "Hi there Ella!" Stella greeted with a fake smile on her face.Ella was taken aback by their approach, neither of them has ever approached her before. She wondered what they wanted from her."Hey," she replied with a force smile on her face."We've been looking for you for a while now. The chief of maids said to give you this curtain. She said to go change the Death lord curtain," Cheryl said."What?!" Ella asked in shock. Going into the room of the Death lord was obviously out of her list. She
Ella thought for some seconds that her ears might be deceiving her. Did the Death lord just ask her to keep him company? Was he really planning to kill her? She thought."Sir...you...I mean keep you...to keep you company?" She asked to make sure she heard right, then she realised she was never to ask the Death lord questions. Before the Death lord could speak, she interrupted him. "I never meant to ask you any question, please forgive me my Lord!" She spat out as fast as she could without stuttering. For a reason the death lord felt the urge to smile, her facial expression turned out to a very lovely sight to watch. He had never found anyone this amusing before without them trying to."Aren't we friends anymore?" He asked her.Ella's eyes widened when she heard what he said. Friends? Was he drunk? She asked within herself. How could she be friends with th
Ella heart skipped, she wanted to cry. She felt like fate had curses her so that she gets into one issue or another with the Death lord."Were you paid to go around seducing men?" He accused Ella with a very deep voice which made Ella tremble.Ella eyes widened when she heard the Death lords statement. Her shoulder sagged and her heart sank. She wondered why he accused her of such when she hasn't gone around seducing any man before. She wanted to ask him questions, she wanted to ask him why he made such accusations against her but she knew that would only be putting herself in a more difficult situation. She felt cheated as she couldn't defend herself, here in Narlands, it was as if everyone tongue was sealed when speaking to the Death lord. Not being able to defend herself, she wept instead."You can't speak?" He asked. Just when he was about to speak again, he noticed th
