Chapter 2: The Lies Begin To Unravel

They knew that there was more to Jake than meant the eye, but they were not too sure what it could be, could he be like them or could he be something more dangerous. As Connor and Glory walked home from dinner that was all that they could think was their minds grey wearier with doubts and fears. When they look up to the empty stillhouse a deep-seated terror flooded their minds.

“We could run,” Connor spoke in a low voice as if he expected someone to hear him.

Pete had a nice smile and warm inviting eyes but when it came down to it he was a monster of the worst kind, Glory had a weak smile on her face as she looked to the house then the car that rested alone in the driveway.

Like a sleeping beast dead to the world but with a simple touch could be rumbling in seconds. There were plenty of times that they wished for nothing more than to run away but they knew no matter how far they ran they would find them.

“What would be the point? They are monsters but they are monsters that own us the moment we try to make a run for it we will be dead there are more of them than they are of us.” Glory spoke in a low voice.

Afraid that there was someone listening to them talk, both had lived in a constant fear that they would one day go to sleep and they would never wake up again.

“So, what should we let innocent people die?! Dad and mom wouldn’t want that.” Connor roared with conviction forgetting that even the silence had ears.

They knew that they never knew where they were lurking somewhere in the dark, “Mom and dad aren’t here are they, we are their captives we should be lucky it's them and not us. We will have time to fight back but that time is not now, and they are not what we should be worried about. The way that the storms look at us like they are trying to peek behind a mask did you notice it?” Glory spoke in a venomous whisper as they trudged up the steps.

Connor simply nodded his head not saying a word, but he knew that she was right, the way that Jake scanned every inch of his face each time that he got annoyed. Almost like he was looking for something, looking to see what secretes hid behind their mask. It was starting to weird him out, he knew what the name Storm meant, and he knew that something was just not quite right with them. But one thing was for sure nothing was going to stop them from accomplishing their mission.

“If he is a problem then we will eliminate them, we have to make sure that we make it out of this house alive that is all that matters. What is one life of a human compared to that?” Connor shrugged his shoulders casually.

Darkness fluttering over his face as an ominous air swirled around them; they didn’t know how much longer that they would be able to hide from the truth, that they were living with monsters and sooner or later they would be the ones that ended up dead.

“You don’t think that they are hunters, do you?” Glory questioned with a twinge of fear in her chest.

She was tired of begging the warm smiling happily go, lucky girl, that she had to play up while she was in public. She was tired of being okay.

“That was just a dream mom and dad used to tell us to make us behave sooner or later the dream ends and the nightmare begins. Don’t speak about the hunters you might invoke them” Connor taunted his little sister as he tried to shake away the grimness of their situation, they were prisoners in their own home held by monsters.

“Go to bed tomorrow is going to be a long day, pretending to be human is far too much work” Connor spoke casually as he disappeared into his room. But both children knew that there were eyes on them and that they could not trust the silence there was always going to be someone watching them with murderous eyes.

Jake laid in his bed staring up at the ceiling thinking about the ghostly pale face and dark soulless eyes of Pete were locked on his soul. It made him think that maybe the kids did not have face warping identities because they are humans held by a vampire.

Confusion filled his chest as indecision ate away at his mind, his body was weary and heavy, he spent all night debating how he should handle this situation. The best that he could hope for now was to wait and see what is going to happen in the coming days. Slowly after staying up all night Jake finally began to drift away into a deep sleep.

The only problem was that it was 7 in the morning and soon they would have to head off to school. Max was all ready for school and was waiting on Jake.

"Get up!" Max roared in outrage.

Shaking Jake's bed violently until he was ripped from a deep sleep. Asleep that he just got into a groan of resistance left his lips as his brows furrowed and his body felt lead as he fought the urge to sink further into his bed.

Max did not know the truth about his family; it was the best-kept secret so he could never truly grasp why his brother slept all the time and never once got up on time. Now as Jake was rushing into the bathroom as he casually threw some clothes on Max could not help but curse him.

Max was ready to curse at the door yelling like a banshee to hurry up when there was a steady thump thump coming from the front door.

“Max tells your brother to hurry up or you're going to be late again, and don't mind the door I’ll get it,” Shay spoke in a cool voice.

She walked up to the door and found that Riley Hale was on the other side with what seemed to be a coffee mug in her hand.

“Hi neighbor, do you mind if I borrow a cup of sugar for my son’s coffee? It seems that he can’t function without at least one cup a day.” Riley spoke with false pleasantries.

Her words were like honey silk, Shay did not see the monster that lurked under the dazzling white smile or her warm loving air. She was predatory and dangerous at least to the children that were resting her murderous grasp.

Shay just laughed as she walked back into the housing leaving the door ajar. By the time that Shay came back, and she had poured the sugar into the thermos Connor was coming out of the house. He was headed for the Red Jeep when he saw his mother had his coffee in her hand.

Shay started the young man looking to see a fresh bruise on his collar bone that looked a lot like a bite or maybe even a claw mark. The minute that his eyes fell on his mother he looked like he was going to jump out of his skin.

All of a sudden he made a beeline for his mother though Shay could see the way that his eyes darkened as he fought the urge to let a revolted expression flutter on his face.

“Why haven't you left yet, the twins already left, and they never make it out of the house on time,” Riley spoke in a cool voice.

Though there was this fury in her eyes they were unspoken and cruel. She smiled but there was no warmth to it. She was frigid when her son approached her and whatever happened last night Connor seemed less inclined to be near her. But he did it as well as he could.

“Yeah well Glory said she has to have her hair just right for the first day of school, so she's been in the bathroom for the past hour.” Connor sighed

Shay started to laugh hysterically; she knew that something was off, but she seemed at ease as she thought about her own son and his struggles of getting to school on time.

“Jake was the exact same way.” Shay shook her head heavily as a weird sigh left her lips as she rubbed her head.

Connor started to walk away when Jake and Max were rushing out the door, complaining to their mom about how they were going to be late. Connor simply rolled his eyes like he did not give a damn about them if he was the one time.

“Can you please give us a ride mom? If we are late again, they are going to give us detention.” Max's voice was shrill, he had never gotten detention in his life and he did not want to start now.

The only thing that came to mind for Max when he thought of detention was prison bars and orange jumpsuits. Riley could see the fear and panic in Max’s eyes and felt sorry for the kid, the same way a farmer feels bad for a cow bright before the slaughter.

“Connor can take you guys to school” Riley spoke in a smooth voice.

Connor made a face and was about to start whining about how it was unfair when he saw his mother's face. A dark understanding passed before the two of them, something that neither storm noticed.

“Fine,” Connor muttered as he looked towards his jeep.

Jake forced himself to smile, but he knew that she was a vampire much like her husband but could the same be said for their children. Were they even their kids?

Confusion ate away at Jake and he rushed over to the jeep with his twin brother. As the boys made it to the car, Glory had just left the house in skintight jeans, a black long-sleeved shirt, a leather jacket with black van high tops without a single hair out of place.

“It’s about goddamn time that you got out of the bathroom. I mean the twins beat us to school and they are never on time for anything.” Connor did well to hide his panic for the moment that just passed between him and his mother.

“Do you think that amazing hair like this just happens, no it doesn’t so lay off?” Glory spoke casually but Jake could see the way that her lips formed words that he could hear or understand.

There was a stilling silence filling the air as they began to drive to school. They had just pulled into the parking lot when the bell rang, everyone had headed inside the school except for a couple of jocks that were hanging out in a mustang. Connor and Glory were getting out of the jeep when Jake noticed the guys in he cursed under his breath. Glory looked at him and saw the look of anger on his face.

“Who are those guys jake?” She spoke with a sweet smile on her face though Jake could see that she was forcing it.

“Football losers, they think they are the shit, but they haven't won a game in three years.”  Jake rolled his eyes casually

The Jocks must have heard the comment because they started to move towards the jeep once they saw Max get out of the car, they started to sprint towards him. Like lions sprinting toward a deer getting ready to go in for the kill. The murderous hunger in their eyes forces a fury filling Jake's chest resonating deep in his bones.

“Well if it isn't the wonder twins, can't wait to shove you to losers back into lockers again.” The head joke in his red letters men jake chuckled darkly and smugly.

Jake's face turned from one full of anger to a smug expression; he knew that this man was below him and he was more than willing to prove it.

“That's funny Martin because the last time that you said that I kicked your ass up and down those hallways and if I'm correct didn't someone have to pull me off you, and weren't you crying when they did?” Jake spoke in a smug and cocky voice.

Glory let out a girlish giggle as she looked over to her brother hiding the smug smile as she spoke to him in a low casual voice. One that no one else could hear but her giggle was loud enough forcing the head jock Martin to turn his attention towards her. Glory walked around the car and stood at Connor’s side, not brother, by the hungry state of the boys before her.

Martin looked her up and down like she was a piece of meat rather than a person, Connor saw the way that Martin was looking at her and got into his older brother mode. He stepped in front of her, only pissing Martin off more than he already was.

“What the hell do you think you're doing? I was looking at the new girl.” Martin spoke in a cool cocky voice.

Conner’s fury was almost too much for him to bear and at that moment his mask slipped only for a moment and Jake swore that he saw murderous glowing red eyes that bloomed with power and energy.

“Yeah well that new girl that you were looking at is my sister so unless you want me to break your face with my fist you’ll back off,” Connor spoke in a steel-like voice.

The hatred in his stare the way that his fingers shook Jake watched as claws began to take the shape of where his hands used to be. There was fury crawling up his arms as he felt an edge pushing him forward and his ears began to sharpen to a fine point.  Razor-sharp fangs on both the top and bottom of his jaw, the moment that the tension began to rise Jake did not know what he was, but he looked reminiscent of a wolf.

“Bring it I'll make you and your sister my bitches for the rest of the year.” Martin walked up and got in Connor’s face and the argument looked really heated. Forcing one of the teachers by the door to step in.

“Do we have a problem here?” The teacher spoke in a calm voice.

“No coach just showing the new kids around that's all,” Martin spoke in a cool voice.

“Well if you don't want to be running laps during practice today, then you should head to class.” The teacher gave Martin a dangerous glare.

Martin and his boys ran off to class leaving only the four in the parking lot.

“Were those boys given you any trouble?” The teacher spoke in a cool voice.

Connor looked at him and made a sound of disgust, taking his sister's hand and headed off to the building. The boys trailed after them.

First Period Connor and Glory had physics which apparently was also the first class that Jake had so he showed them the way. Jake walked up to the door and opened, walking in first. The room was very humid and hot, there were posters of Newton's three laws and examples on the wall. The tables were assembled in groups of two, there were only two groups of two tables left.

Glory and Connor scanned the class, their eyes stopped on one girl in the back for a moment like they were having their own little conversation. But they have pulled away from their thoughts, so a raspy voice began to speak.

“Well it was nice of you to join my class today Storm are you planning on staying or are you going to get into another fight and get yourself kicked out.” A man with thick black-rimmed glasses and receding hairline.

“I am here to stay Mr. Peters; this is Connor and Glory there here” Jake spoke in a smug voice.

“Well welcome would you like to tell the class a little bit about yourselves.” The teacher spoke in a cool voice.

Connor gave him a look and walked to the back of the classroom and sat down. Glory gave one of her memorizing smiles and the whole class was looking on in awe. Then her eyes rested on a girl with red hair, freckles, and pink skin who was sitting at the back across from Connor. Jake watched as flashing red eyes of hatred leered at the red hair girl.

Then she walked into the back and sat next to Connor. Jake took the seat in the back next to the red-headed girl and kissed her. But the girl looked unnerved like she had seen Glory’s eyes glow red too.

When the bell rang the entire class filed out of the room except for the red-headed girl, Jake, Connor, and Glory. Even the teacher had left to go break up some fight in the hallway between a jock and some new kid.  “Glory, Connor this is my girlfriend Rachel, Rachel this is Glory and her brother Connor.”

Rachel still looked unnerved, some would even say terrified and Jake had no clue why. He had seen that look on her face all class but could not get two words in to ask her what was wrong because she was too busy ignoring him. But he was about to find out.

There was a coldness that settled deep in their eyes as they simply looked at Jake and Rachel before running off as if they had never been there, to begin with. Connor walked Glory to the girl's locker room where she headed inside to get changed while Connor headed to his next class which was Latin class, which was good for him because it was one of the many languages that Connor spoke. Unfortunately, that was the same class as jake.

He had known what he saw; he had to be a ware-wolf; his father had told him stories about werewolves but he had never seen them before so he couldn’t help but want to get to know Connor more. He wanted to know everything that he could.

So, they walked there, and he was asking Connor ten questions per minute and Connor was coming this close to punching the kid when he ran into Eddie. Eddie however was busy getting the crap beaten out of him by Jake’s old pal Martin. Connor walked right past them and kept walking, not taking a second look at Eddie.

“Hey, you're not going to say anything I mean he is beating up your brother,” Jake spoke but watched as Eddie was crumpled on the floor.

Jake could see that his face was twisting from in pain child to a murderous vampire.

‘Your point is?” Connor spoke coldly.

Jake did not know how to take that as he looked over to Connor noticing the marks that were trailing his neck and moving further down his body at least Jake thought that the scars were moving down his body.

“Well if that was my little brother then I would have killed him before he got the chance to lay another hand on him” Jake spoke casually but he was gaging the reaction.

Though his eyes flared red again as fury flooded his stare as he slammed into something,  Connor literally ran into his sister, and the moment he did he could see the light in her eyes and he just knew that she would start to flips out saying what kind of idiot doesn't know to watch where they're going till she looks up and sees that it Emmett. She then peers over his shoulder to see that Eddie is getting the living shit beaten out of him and Connor is not doing a goddamn thing to stop it.

“What's your damage Connor you're not going to help Eddie” Lindsay looked utterly confused.

Her brows began to furrow as her eyes turned black as the night the fury in her stare the hatred that forced her undead body to stiffen. It made Jake think more than ever that he was not really related to them after all that maybe they were in fact prisoners. But if they were-wolves couldn’t they just kill the monster that was housing them? Was there something superior to vampires over wolves? Or was it just a numbers game.

While they were making their way to Latin class with Jake having more questions than he had answers, but he knew sooner or later that he would know the truth. All the while Glory was getting ready in the locker struggling to get dressed without showing the marks that Pete had left on her body she was a captive force to play the happy youngest daughter in a family where she was being kept as leverage of all things.

The locker room was dark, and Glory got a creeped out feeling. Like there was a peephole somewhere and a bunch of horny teenage boys was looking through it. A shadow moved out in the corner and Glory started to freak out. She quickly opened her bag and sighed when she saw what was inside.

“Great just my luck” Glory had just gotten out of the locker room when the teacher told her that today the class will be running laps and Glory could help but think how lucky she was.

Glory had to wear a pair of short shorts and a tank top to gyms because she could not find her sweatpants and T-shirts when she was unpacking. Lucy's bruises were more located near her rib cage rather than her throat and shoulders like with her brother. The murderous rage of a vampire was unknown and dangerous, and they were paying the price. She did not understand why they were even keeping them hostage what was the point.

Her mind was filled with clutter as she noticed that every guy was gawking at her. But she ignored them and ran the mile, somewhere around lap three she felt a warm hand grab her wrist and pull her behind the bleachers she started to scream and fight but then a hand found its way over her mouth and whispered in her ear.

“Calm down gorgeous it's just me Paul,” Paul spoke with lust in his voice.

“How are things going on the vampire front to figure out what they are planning?” Paul spoke in a smooth voice.

He knew that this wasn’t easy for Glory sure they were taken hostage by those murderous bloodsuckers but that didn’t mean that they didn’t have a plan of their own to escape and get justice all in one shot. So, for a moment he wanted it to be just the two of them to have a moment where their lives were not in constant danger.

Glory calmed down and turned to see her boyfriend Paul with a big toothy grin on his face. Paul has the most perfect nose, copper skin, these soulful green eyes, and muscles that could take down a king cobra. Glory locked lips with him and they started to make out and it kept getting more and more heated till the scene had taken up a mind of its own.

The bell and rung school were out, and Connor had not seen Glory all day he was worried that something might have gone wrong. He knew that Lindsay and Eddie were not above abusing them during school hours if they did not get caught. They were monsters and one that did not have a conscience and did not care who they hurt. Connor knew that it was only a matter of time before they killed someone else and he feared that someone would be his precious baby sister.

So he jogged all the way to the gym locker room and asked all the gym teachers if they saw his sister but they all told him no and that she had left her bag and all her clothes in the locker room. So, he took her clothes and her book bag and ran down the track to see if he could find his sister. Then he heard someone moaning and he thought well maybe she was in pain.

But Connor could not figure out where the sound was coming from, but he was starting to grow impatient and filled with terror as he felt someone following him.

“Connor what the hell are you doing, why did you blow me off after last period,” Jake spoke in an outraged voice.

Connor knew that something was not right. He was way too invested in the Hale siblings and for a moment he thought that maybe just maybe his sister was right, and he was a hunter. Could he be hunting them and just waiting for the right moment. Did he find that moment when Connor’s back was turned and now his sister was dead?

Terror forced Connor's heart to stop as he lurched forward with renewed energy.

“Well one of your questions was driving me insane, two my sister has all the same class as me except for the second period and I have not seen her all day, so I am getting a little worried. Sue me, I thought that I had heard her voice, but I can’t pinpoint it.” Connor did not so much as turn back as he spoke in a rushed voice.

Jake seemed like he could not careless and wasn't at all concerned for Glory, it looked like he didn't even care what happened to her all he wanted to know was what the big fuss was about.

Connor made it to the other side of the field in less than a minute and it took Jake almost three to catch up to him. Jake did not understand how he could move too fast. Even with long legs, it would take more than a few strides to make it across the field. With each passing moment that he spent with the Hale siblings, he knew that there was something extraordinary about him.

“What is with you man” Jake questioned as he leaned over Connor’s shoulder.

‘I hear something you moron” Connor spoke in a cold voice. Fighting the urge to roll his eyes

Jake and Connor turned the bend and when they made it to the back of the bleachers Connor flipped.

“WHAT IN THE HOLY HELL DO YOU THINK THAT YOU'RE DOING HERE!!!!!!”  His voice echoed off the still air shaping it with murderous ripples.

There were Glory and Paul lying on the floor with nothing on but a blanket to cover themselves. Glory felt the blood rushing to her face, and she was not the only one Jake could not believe what he was seeing. But he was glad that he did, Connor on the other hand looked like he was about to kill Paul and Glory for making him worry so much.

“Connor buddy it’s been a while, long time no see” Paul got up and put his underwear and jeans on as he spoke in a worried voice.

“Look I was just coming to see how things were going and…” It was a blurred movement that Jake didn't see but he figured that Paul must have taken a right hook to the gut and left to the face and it looked like he got the wind knocked out of him.  Glory got up with nothing on and walked over to be at Paul’s side to make sure that he was okay.

“Jeez Con, what the hell is wrong with you?” Glory let out a murderous screech.

Thick rumbling growls began to build in the back of their throats as hate flared in the state of the two siblings. Power bloom brightly in their chest and Jake’s hand instantly went to his waistline for a silver blade was resting ready to be used at a moment's notice.

“You been here this entire time, I was freaking worried sick about you. I thought that they might have gotten to you and I see you with this tool. Are you missing the part of your brain that tells you that he is a total and complete douche, and will you put some freaking clothes on” Conner lectures her like he was her father not her older brother?

“Look what we have here you know, having sex on campus can get you in some serious trouble but if you let me have a turn then we can keep this to ourselves. What ya say” Martine lumber over he was a boring chest fool that had an arrogant air about him that made everyone want to punch him.

Glory looked at him in total disgust, walked straight up to him, still with no clothes on, and kicked him in the nuts. Then casually walked back to where she had left her clothes and was in the middle of getting her bra on when a teacher walked by.

“All of you the principal's office now!!!” The hall monitor rotated with embarrassment.

The next thing they knew Pete Hale, Ethan Storm, and Mr. Brewer was sitting in the office with Paul, Emmett, Glory, Jake, and Martin.

“Now does someone want to tell me what’s going on here or are we going to have to look at the cameras.” The principal spoke in a low voice his stormy gray eyes shifting from Paul and Glory.

Neither one of them looked like they were even close to answering; they were simply sitting still in their seats, holding hands and blushing but still no one said anything so the principal played the tape and watched the whole thing. Neither Paul nor Glory looked up from their laps.

“So should we start with who you are young man, or maybe why you think it’s appropriate to have sexual intercourse in my school, or how about the fight that you and Hale had. Or how about the altercation that Glory and Martin got into or are those unfair questions.” Once again storm gray eyes had a long face that greeted the young teens.

Martin was then the first one to speak. “Who has sex for that long, like how do you have that much stamina to have sex from the second period all the way to the end of school. Also, how did no one hear you? I mean you were screaming his name at the top of your lungs right. Also, why am I here I did not sleep with her, and she is the one that hit me, so I am the victim here.”

Ethan was then the next one to say something “Principle Jackson you do know that you are going to have to delete that video, right? If you did not you would be in possession of child pornography. I would also like to point out that my son thought he has been blamed for many things. For once he didn't do anything so there is no reason for us to be here.”

“At the time that the teacher had found all of them, he did not know who was involved and who was not, so I apologize for that and yes you may go. I will of course delete the tape for it is too much for me or anyone else to handle.”

Ethan did not like how the principal had put that, but he let it go and slapped the back of Jake's head. As they marched out of the room Jake looked back to the room before whispering in a low voice, “Connor and Glory are were-wolves but the rest of their family is vampires it would make sense why their hair was still on the body of the victims but no last night. They did not go on the so-called camping trip, but something says that they are not here because they want to be. I found marks on Connor's shoulder and there was some bruising on Glory’s torso. I'm going to confront them tonight.” As Jake spoke the argument was still going on in the principal's offices.

Martin and his father left as well, leaving just Paul, Emmett, Glory, Pete, and the Principal.

“So young man does you want to tell me who you are and what you are doing at my school because I know for a fact that you don't go here.?” The princess dark black hair ruffled in the soft caressing breeze of the fall air

Paul did not say a word and he was not planning on saying anything till Pete Hale gave him a death glare. “My name is Paul, and I don't even live in the city, but I wanted to come down and see my girl, is there something wrong with that.”

“There is when you are having sex on my school campus and why did you get into a fight with Connor?” The question was pointed and cold.

“Well I thought that was obvious, he hates me and thinks that I am a no-good loser so he punched me in the face for being anywhere near her”  But before the principal could get a word in Glory walked up to him and whispered something in his ear and the next thing that they know he’s telling him that this time he will let them all off with a warning.

As the four of them were exiting the building Pete stopped them in the front of the school and he looked like he was about to hit Glory. Paul noticed the agitation and hated that was coming off Pete in waves. Paul feared for her safety, so he threw an arm around her shoulders and growled at Pete. Paul had taken away any chance of Pete hitting her instead he decided to humiliate her.

”What the hell is wrong with the two of you, what kind of tramp spreads her legs on school property let alone at the age of 16, what could possibly be wrong with you…” Paul decked him right there as Glory stood mute.

She knew that she should have cried it was expected of her but she couldn’t begin to care she was over begin at the mercy of a monster like Pete all so that she could find out what they were planning it was driving her mad and she knew that her brother felt the same way. They wanted to clean the clock of the smug vampire before them but instead, they had to sit there and hold their tongue and let Paul do all their fighting for them at least for the moment.

“What gives you the right to tell her what to do or even what gives you the right to make us call you dad. You're nothing more than a pathetic, washed-up loser, piece of shit trash that took…” He shut his mouth before he could say that Pete stole them from their bed late at night and that was the last time that they saw their father and mother.

“Glory gets in the Jeep now; hey Pete piss off” Connor hit him once for good measure and followed his sister and Paul back to the car.

After the whole scene at school, Jake thought about stopping by but found that the car was not even in the driveway when they got home. Which was weird for Jake because his dad had stopped at the police station on their way home. But as soon as the car pulled up in the driveway Jake got tired, he went straight to his room and went to bed. Around nine that night he was woken up by a pounding at the door. It was hot that night, so he did not have anything on but a pair of boxers, so Jake had no choice but to throw some clothes on.

Jake put on cobalt blue sweatpants and his favorite evil dead shirt before he walked down the stairs. When he passed the kitchen there was a note on the table that read. "Your father, your brother, and I went out to get some pizza. You looked tired so we thought that we should let you sleep. We will bring you home some dinner. Love mom”

For a moment Jack thought that the pounding of the door might have been his imagination till he saw something move past the window and he hit the floor. Crawled all the way to the light fixture in the kitchen and shut it off. Once all the lights were off Jake got to his feet and sprinted up the stairs and to his bed. Where he kept his Smith and Wesson handgun loaded, once he saw the doorknob moving, he unlocked it and waited for the door to open with his hand on the trigger. Once the door slowly creaked open Jake started to squeeze his finger slowly but stopped when he realized who it was Riley Hale, Connor, and Glory's mom.

“Why do you have a gun and what the hell is going on,” Riley spoke in a quicken terror-filled voice.

But she could not fool the boy that could see the true nature of peoples simply by a look

“That's funny I could've said the same thing to you. Why are you lurking outside my house and why were you looking inside my windows and why are you dressed in all black and why wouldn't you call if you needed something.” Jake did not have enough breath to speak, he always did not ask more questions than his lungs could keep up with.

“‘Why do you ask so many questions Jake and why don't you give me time to answer them huh,” Riley spoke in a coy voice.

Riley had pale skin, and it looked like she had not aged a day over 32. There was no way that she could have had four kids and still looked that good. Jake got lost in his thought for the longest time till he thought of one question that was weighing on him. Is she here to eat me now that I am all alone in the house?

At that moment either by luck or fat the storm family came walking over to the house with Ethan at the head of the pack he could see the panic and hatred in the eyes of his son as he spoke in a quick voice hiding his terror behind a warm smile.

``What Connor does now” Ethan’s voice turned husky and cold.

She looked at him and then started to cry and Jake thought she had to be the greatest actress to pull off tears when you are a cold murdering undead corpse.

“Connor and Glory haven't come home since the whole thing at the school. Apparently, they got into a fight with Pete and they ran off with Paul” Riley dabbed her false tears

Ethan looked at her and then at his sons and thought that maybe one of them could have known where they were and then he thought again who the hell is Paul.

“Slow down Riley first tell me who Paul is,” Ethan spoke in a worried filled voice.

It was not that he was worried about the children he was worried about who might get hurt because of them. They were werewolves and to him, that meant that they could not be trusted they were worse than Vampires because they thought that they were above the common laws of decency and kindness.

“He’s Glory’s boyfriend from back home and he was at the school, he was the boy who had been on the videotape with her. Well, Pete said something in the heat of the moment that made them upset, and then Paul punched him in the face. Connor took Paul, and Glory and told them to get in his Jeep, and then they just took off. There can't be anywhere for them to go because this is only their first day of school so it is not like they can be at a friend's house.” Once Riley was done it was like she had a hard time breathing and began to hyperventilate.

Ethan looked at her as if she were a broken toy but he knew that she was the monster that broke all the toys on misfit island.

“What is the make and model of the car? I'll send an APB on the car and we should track it down really quick.” Ethan spoke in a warm reassuring voice though he stared at his son as if to find them first.

“It's a 2008 Red Jeep Wrangler X the license plates spell out Hale. Thank you, Ethan this is exceedingly kind, of you.” Riley spoke just as quickly and now she really did look worried that they would run but Jake knew that it had to be for different reasons.

“Yeah no problem boys have either of you seen them at all since school” Ethan looked at Max and he shook his head no.

Jake nodded his head making his way out of the house through the back door running at full speed as something pulled him into the forest. His mind with racing all the things that they could learn all the things that they would learn the moment that they got their hands on the Hale kids. His mind was racing so fast that he could not hear the panic thumping of his heart telling him that there was a monster nearby.

He did not hear the roar of three demented beasts that prowled in the darkness waiting to be seen so that they could enjoy the last few minutes of their prey’s fear.  There was all-consuming darkness to the thick heavy pine trees that swirled around Jake. He could smell the twinge of cooper and he knew that it had to be blood. His tongue was heavy in his mouth as the long brisk run built up a sweat.

The ground around him was shifting and unsteady as he felt the eyes of something or someone on him for a minute. He finally realized that there was something just not right about the forest. He could hear haunting laughter and whisper of threats of death if he did not turn back. He knew that there was no such thing as a ghost; he had never seen one. But then again, he had never seen a werewolf, but he was so sure that they had to be real.

He crouched down looking to the ground to see that there was a large footprint in the ground that looked like that of a dog but he knew were too large and point to be a dog but wolves. His eyes scanned the horizon as his finger’s danger along with the cool soil of the ground. Something was not right but he could hear his name on the wind taunting him to come forward to his death. He could feel the warmth of his house at his back.

He could turn around and be home for a matter of minutes, but he ran taking off further into the forest thinking that all his questions will get answers if he would only go into the forest. He ran until his jaw aches and his muscles burn until every step in his brain was screaming in utter agony until the moon was so full and high in the air that it reached its peak. Only then did he hunch over collapsing on the ground as he struggled to breathe his gun clattering out of his fingers as he tipped his head back and used his hands to balance him.

The ground was slick and wet with something at first he thought nothing of it but when he placed his hand in the sky he noticed that his finger was slick with a crimson fluid that could only be blood, a shudder rushed down his spine as he looked around realizing that he might have killed himself. His hands went to his gun but only found empty space where the gun used to rest. Ruby red eyes three of them came searching through the darkness.

Taking all the full brunt of his attention, they moved like normal eyes melting from the shadows as three wolves stood in front of them. They were not massive like the size of a horse in fact they were normal other than the glowing eyes. The first two wolves had thick black coats, but one was clearly leaner while one had thick hunches and was pure muscle. Then there was the wolf to the right of the black hair wolves. The coat of this wolf was a deep brown almost black color with venomous green eyes that glitter in the light when the glowing began to fade away.

“Jake Storm are you ready to die?” A thick husky voice filled the air echoing in his ear’s drums forcing them to burst or so he thought.

But a sprout of giggling laughter forces the steady silence to fall from his face,” I'm sorry but your face it is priceless.” The wolves that were resting before Jake slowly began to slip away and the three teens that had run from their house took their place.

“What the hell is going on!!” Jake roared in utter confusion looking between the three teens hoping to get one solid answer though he knew that there was a great chance that they might just try to kill them. He watched as he noticed the light of a silver metallic gun that he knew he had dropped on the ground. As his shoulder slumped one coherent thought fluttered in his mind.

Fuck me.
