CHAPTER 2

Zack Flint's POV

He opened his eyes and looked at the ceiling. He frowned when he realized that he couldn't move his limbs at all but he could move his head to look around. He squinted his eyes while everything on his sight was blurry. He blinked three times to adjust his eyes from the reddish light coming from outside the classroom. His eyes narrowed as he stared at the sun turning red like a blood hanging at the sky.

"What is going on?" he said but was stunned when there was no voice coming out from his mouth. He tried to talk again and again but failed to produce a voice. For the first time, he felt scared of losing his voice and tears slowly fell on his cheeks. He was truly scared. Suddenly, the silhouette of someone he knows emerged out of his mind and remembered her words.

"I will always be here for you. Always!" She always said it to him in order to comfort him every time she noticed his fear. She is just a normal elder sister like any other elder sisters out there but she also has a unique side of her. Her every words will make a person feel safe and comfortable.

After that, he felt some energy within him slowly filled his belly like a surging tide and his right point finger move until the energy travelled through his veins. When the energy reached his shoulder to his hands, it moved. When the energy reached his legs and feet, he bent it forward. He raised his right hand to reach out towards the ceiling, he felt that he could protect anyone he wanted to protect, like his elder sister.

Then, he heard a groaning sound around him. He looked at the direction of the noises and felt chills down his spine when he witnessed the changes on his classmates' bodies. Their eyes turned red, their body looked like a rotten corpse, and their movements looked sluggish when slowly standing up.

Many of his classmates turned into a zombie as he didn't expect that an apocalypse happens so suddenly. No one was prepared of this and will never ever thought that this is the beginning of the end of the world.

He slowly sat down beside his seat and window. The light was turned off but his zombie classmates turned their heads on his direction. His body jolted and his eyes looked around with a panic, to find a temporarily weapon to defend himself. Then, he remembered that he had a classmate who was a baseball player and always hide his baseball bat inside the cleaning cabinet because his baseball seniors always target him to bully until his body has black and blue bruises.

Fortunately, Zack Flint's seat was nearby the cleaning cabinet so he hurriedly look for the baseball bat while his zombie classmates ran on his directions. Now, their movements are agile and fast. One of the zombie classmates opened her mouth and ready to bite down his back but was beaten down because of a strong impact of his swing. He unhesitatingly swings the baseball bat every time a zombie classmate was so close to him.

"Aim at their heads!" a woman's voice sounded from outside the entrance of the classroom. Zack Flint turned his head and saw a woman who heavily panted with a sharp sword on her hand while a reddish liquid scattered on her shoulder to her blue skirt.

"Gaaahh!" the zombies groaned as they smelled another human scent and felt excited while their hunger shot upward inside them. Zack Flint swing down the baseball bat again and again on his zombie classmates' heads.

"Come out now! Let's go out of the school!" the woman shouted as she also fought the zombie students on the corridor. Her sharp sword cut their heads and the way she cut it looks like it was easy but she already exhausted too much of her energy. She's just an ordinary student girl and all students voted her as the campus belle but, unfortunately, Zack Flint didn't bother to know the school beauty ranking list so he didn't know that she's a campus belle but he knows that she's the famous girl every male student looked up to.

Zack Flint was stunned of this girl's braveness and decisiveness but noticed the girl's swordplay is on par to the experts on swordplay field.

When the zombie students were all cut down by her swordplay, she looked again at Zack Flint's surprise look. She grinned as she felt proud of her swordplay.

"Let's go!" the girl grabbed his wrist an pulled him out of the classroom and ran on the corridor. They also looked around in order to stay vigilant of their surrounding as they know that anytime the zombies will popped out everywhere.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! Sounds like a bomb from outside the school building. They looked at each other and nodded. They decided to slowly leave the school building and observed the situation of those people outside.

"Circle Formation! First Formation is the front attackers! Second formation is the short-range attackers and the third formation is for long-range attackers!" a middle-aged man shouted to the students who are fighting the zombie students. They are the members of Martial Arts Club, Archery Club and Shooting Club. The Martial Arts members are the second formation attackers, the archery club members are the third formation attackers and the shooting club members are the first formation attackers. They are also surrounded by a steel wall as a shield while the middle-aged man and weak or non-sports students are in the middle of the circle formation.

"Why do I feel that the middle-aged man is a fantasy addict?" the girl's lips twitched as she pretended that she didn't see the middle-aged man's glowing eyes like he treated the students as magic array and the circle formation as magic formation.

Zack Flint also knows the identity of the middle-aged man. His lips lifted upward and said, "Interesting" when he saw an invisible lights around the middle-aged man's body. The middle-aged man was the Literature Club Director and only few knows that he's an anime addict, fantasy light novel reader and fantasy mangaka. His name is Carlos Caparas who created the Magician of Today. It was about the main character who was transmigrated from Magical Age of another world. He was framed up as the traitor who killed the King and was executed by cutting the head. After the execution, he found himself inside the world of advanced technology in Earth also known as Modern Times.

"He is famous? I haven't heard of him" Zack Flint nonchantly said as he still observed tje invisible light around Carlos Caparas.

"Well, he's a half-Filipino and half-American. His ideas came from the two races. His pen-name is Enima because he loves anime" the girl answered as she still felt awkward for Carlos Caparas.

"Enima... sounds girly" Zack Flint mumbled and slowly moved towards the direction of Carlos Caparas and co.

"What's your name?" Zack Flint asked as his cold and aloof personality came back after experiencing a shock earlier. The girl chuckled and she knows that Zack Flint is a cold and aloof guy but treated those people around him nicely. It's just that his personality made other people misunderstand him.

"I'm Candice Kim. I'm half-Korean and half-Filipino" Candice introduced herself as she looked at Zack Flint to see his reaction but was bewildered because Zack Flint didn't react at all. Well, no one could blame Candice Kim of expecting to see Zack Flint's admiring eyes after seeing her beauty because that's what all men's reaction every time a man asked of her name.

Zack Flint felt Candice Kim's blank gaze and turned his head to look at her, "What's wrong?" he asked coldly.

"We..Well, I didn't see any admiration from your eyes. Are my eyes blind?" Candice Kim blinked twice as she looked silly when she tilted her head and thought.

"Admiration? I only admire my elder sister" Zack Flint answered as his face still have no reaction but his tone turned gentle when he mentioned his elder sister.

Candice Kim was stunned after hearing Zack Flint's words. Her eyes glowed brightly, "Is she smart? Is she part of School Top Ranking List?" she asked. She knows that Zack Flint didn't show any interest to any girls in their school but she never thought that Zack Flint's taste is an elder sister type. Well, she felt that Zack Flint only admired his elder sister. Any youngest brother or younger sister feels that way.

"No, she's dumb, clumsy and timid but sometimes she's unpredictable" Zack Flint answered.

Candice Kim right now gasped at Zack Flint as she realized something, "You're a siscon!" she shouted which attracted the attention of Carlos Caparas and co., as well as, the zombie students.

"You're so noisy" Zack Flint said and firmly gripped the baseball bat he has as he slowly exposed himself and Candice Kim followed as she covered her face with her hands.If there's a hole, she really wanted to hide her embarrassed face.
