53. Taking the Plunge

I hesitantly gazed into Arthur's pale blue eyes. My heart was thumping wildly, my eyes wide with apprehension. My orbs roamed across his face, traversing from his smooth forehead, along the sharp angle of his nose, down his pink plump lips, freshly shaven chin and chiselled jawline.

Is he asking what I think he's asking? I wondered.

My head was spinning, it seems that once again we're going too fast, like a high-speed train spiralling out of control, going off the tracks, Arthur is the driver while I am the unwilling passenger. 

My brain was screaming at me, get off! This is happening way too fast. 

He must have noticed my panicked reaction because a second later, he sighed resignedly. 

"It's okay if you're not ready." He murmured, letting go of my hand. In a heartbeat, things turned from hopeful to hopeless.
