Peace At Last

Summer POV

Time seems to be stagnant and the dream, endless. The peace and tranquillity soothe my soul. I have no idea when last I enjoyed such peace. It has been so long since I could sleep in like this.

I yawn at the same time, cursing at the sun for rising too early. Why can the night not stretch for a full twenty-four hours? I mentally curse at whoever pulled the blinds open to allow such blinding sunlight.

Groggy, I try to raise my hand to shield myself from the penetrating sun, only to be restricted by an unknown shackle. I try again but no such luck. Wait. Restraints on my hands? How, who, and why?

Panicky, I try harder but a soft voice causes me to halt all my attempts.

"There, there, dear child, do not panic. If you allow me, can I have a word with you?"

"First take the restraints off my hands. It certainly wouldn't be a fair fight if you have me all tied up now, would it?"

A melodious sound resonates from what I presume to be her direction, as I still have my eyes closed.
