Chapter 5

The two girls set off for the grocery store cheerfully.

And, the news of them leaving the house also reached Christian’s ear in no time. But he did not say anything after hearing it.

“As long as they are fine”, he thought.

But, he still ordered hidden guards to follow them closely and keep eyes on them.

That’s right! HIDDEN BODYGUARDS. Christian had assigned some of his best bodyguards to follow his sister without her knowledge for any emergency. They were not to show themselves as long as showing themselves in front of others was not a must.

Catherine and Sarah were seated in the backseat of the car. It has been many years since Catherine was back, so she was thoroughly enjoying the sceneries that were passing by. She realized that with her growth, the country has grown too. Many things have been changed and she nearly could not recognize some of the places.

After nearly 30 minutes of drive, they reached the grocery mart. The driver parked the car in the underground parking lot after dropping Catherine and Sarah at the doorstep.

Something caught Catherine’s attention when she has just reached the door. She turned back to take a good look when she found a video playing on the big screen on the opposite building of mart. The video was of a very fine, handsome man giving an interview.

She recognized the man in an instant. The man is the president of Vitale Group, Evan Vitale, her brother’s closest friend, and her childhood sweetheart. Their parents also shared the closest bond despite being from two Mafia clans, so the children also became the closest kin to each other.

Evan and her brother, Christian was like her two knights in shining armor. They always protected her when she was a child, never let her be sad and never let anyone hurt her. Catherine also loved hanging around with them and nearly spend all the time with them. Their parents were also glad that the children liked and enjoyed each other’s company.

But, everything came to an end after the death of their parents. That’s right, both of their parents died, no were murdered on the same day. But before she could know something more about the incident, her brother had sent her abroad. After that, Evan also never contacted her and the two lost contact with each other. Even when she asked her brother about that incident, either her question went unheard or he never answered her.

So, the main reason for her returning was to find answers to all the unanswered questions. She has had enough of her brother’s excuses. So, she was now back intending to investigate everything that took place on that day.

And the first step of her plan was the man on the screen, Evan Vitale. She had a feeling that the death of both their parents was interlinked. Since she was not going to get an answer from her brother, why not start from Evan?

“So, Mr. Evan Vitale, I guess we are going to meet again soon”, she wondered.

Her lines of thought were broke by Sarah’s calling.

“Catherine, where are you lost? Let’s go inside. Let’s not waste more time, we are already delaying”, Sarah reminded her.

Catherine nodded to her and they walked inside.

Though it was just called grocery mart, it contained almost everything from foods, fruits, vegetables, daily necessities, dairy products, and even fresh seafood.

The two girls, each carried a separate shopping cart, dragged it to almost every section, and when they were finished shopping, both their carts were full. It looked as if they just moved into a new place and needed every single thing.

Even the cashier was shocked when she saw the two ladies, each carrying a full shopping cart.

The cashier speechlessly scanned all the products, still feeling stupified; then handed the ladies a bill. Catherine handed the cashier a card, which was of course none other than a black card, which was said to be the card with a maximum limit i.e. nearly 25000 dollars.

The cashier was once more shocked when she saw the card. She finally got a chance to hold a black card, so she was very careful with it. Thankfully, their store supported the card, otherwise, they would have to face so much embarrassment.

Sarah requested the cashier to call someone to help them load the goods in their car. The cashier gladly called for help and soon, they were done loading.

The two ladies, Catherine and Sarah, looked at each other with price when they saw the car trunk full of their shopping materials.

They got into the car and the driver quickly drove to the mansion.

As soon as the car stopped, Catherine ran to open the trunk and carried as much as she could, and hurriedly transferred them into the kitchen. The maids saw her running in carrying the goods, so they helped her carry them too.

Catherine quickly wore an apron and then began working on her dishes. Sarah also reached the kitchen and without needing to say anything, she began arranging the foods in the fridge. After that, she helped Catherine with washing and cooking.

Though Catherine said that she will just cook her brother’s best dish Pork Cutlet, now that she got a chance to cook, she decided to cook a full course for dinner from appetizers to dessert.

After about 2 hours, the ladies were finally done. Then they went for a shower and when they came to the hall after a shower, they saw that Christian was already back and was sipping coffee while reading a file.

Catherine got frustrated when she saw him looking at the file continuously so she walked to him and directly snatched the file from his hand and said, “Come on, brother. What is going well about this file? Your sister, that is me, has prepared a full course dinner for you but here you are, just reading the file.”

The maids standing there trembled when they heard Catherine scolding their master. All of them thought that Catherine was doomed now but they did not know that they were in for a treat.

Because instead of scolding, their master actually looked gentle and was even smiling at his sister.

“Umm, my sister has grown up. Come, brother is hungry. Let’s eat”, they heard their master speak in the gentlest voice possible while patting his sister’s head.

Seeing that Christain has gone to wash his hands, Catherine turned to Sarah and said, “Sarah, my brother had gone through so much just to let me grow in a safe environment. But, I am a grown-up now and I promise myself to protect my brother now.”

Sarah knew that Catherine was not lying. The band of these two brothers and sisters was really one of the strongest bands she has ever come across.

She looked at Catherine proudly and said, “Mmm, I believe you. You have really grown up well.”

Catherine giggled like a young girl at Sarah's words and replied, “ hehe, come let’s go eat. Brother must be really hungry.” With that, Catherine started walking towards the dining table.

But, Sarah hesitated for a while. While they were abroad since they lived in the same apartment together, they cooked and ate together but now they were not in their apartment. This was her boss's home and it was their family time. So, she was not sure if she should eat with them at the same table.

While she was still hesitating, Christian arrived there after washing. He found Sarah absent-minded, and just standing there while contemplating something.

He narrowed his eyes and spoke, “Aren’t you eating? Or are you waiting for me to come and serve you?”

Sarah broke out of her thoughts when she heard Christian speak. Although she heard his voice, she was not exactly sure what he was speaking about. So she asked confused and still a bit absent-minded, “Huh?”

Christian’s forehead twitched in anger when he realized that she hadn’t even heard him properly.
