Chapter One: How I became an orphan

At the age of nine, my dad was brutally murdered by alpha Lance. An evil beast, who once used to rule over our land, Lancaster, before it was named Starkville. He treated us like nothing but slaves and puppets because we all feared him so much. We were so horrified by him that our bodies could not stand still whenever he was near us. Our entire body trembles worrying about what he plans to do to us next. Thankfully to the moon goddess we were all luckily saved by Ares. The new Alpha of our land. The brave reddish-brown wolf who had taken down our wicked alpha. He came from another land rule over by his dad, another great alpha, alpha Logan. The day our new alpha, alpha Ares had taken over our pack, previously known as Lance pack. Everything started to go well for us.

Our pack name was changed. I was so happy that it was now called, The Dark Forest Pack. Our former terrible evil alpha was so cocky that the land and the pack were derived from his first name. Thankfully everything created by the evil-hearted asshole was changed but still, I was sad. I wish things had changed way earlier. I would have lived a happy life and certain terrible events that had occurred within the past never would have dear to happened, with our new, powerful, protective, alpha Ares, by our side.

Tears suddenly fill my eyes remembering the day my mom and I heard the shocking news of dad. It was within the afternoon. My mom and I were within the kitchen, preparing dad's favourite meal. Baked chicken, mash Irish potatoes, and string beans, while waiting for him to return home. I was helping her peeling the Irish Potatoes. When we both heard the awful news that dad won't be returning home, ever. Instantly, the knife fell from my hands along with the unfinished peel potatoes to the floor by the terrible news.

"Mom," I remember crying out and running over to hug her.

My mom held me within her arms and we both cry, then slowly she began to step backward away from me.

"Stay here and wait for me," I remember my mom telling me, while she cries. "I will be right back."

I nodded while I wipe away my tears and watch her as she runs off with her best friend to where dad was murdered by the wicked beast. Whose job was to protect us and lead us, but instead he abuses his title and power as our alpha and chooses to take advantage of his pack.

I curled up within my dad's favourite white couch bawling my eyes out while I waited on mom to return. I waited until the place had begun to lose its light. I grew impatiently waiting on her. I needed her to hug me and to tell me that everything was going to be okay, and so, I decided to leave the house to search for her before outside becomes even darker.

Before, I got further away from my home. I stopped, seeing my mom's best friend, Cleo, returning, alone.

"Where is mom?" I inquire her worriedly as I run towards her.

Cleo stops right away by my question and lowers her head sadly, while tears began to fall from her light brown eyes, falling onto the ground.

Seeing how melancholy she was. I became more worried and again inquire her where my mom was, with great anger within my voice. I needed her to tell me now, so, I could go and find her.

"I'm sorry, Arissa," Cleo apologizes to me; instead of telling me my mom whereabout.

"Why are you apologizing to me and not telling me where my mom is?" I cried.

"I tried to stop her, but she was too fast and when I eventually did it was too late," Cleo told me as she raises her head, crying like a baby.

"What?" I cry to her, terrified by what she had said.

"Your mom couldn't handle the death of your dad and so she chooses to hang herself near the tree she first met your dad,"

Hearing the terrible news that my mom had killed herself. Quickly, I ran away from Cleo and head towards the tree. Where my mom and I would have a picnic together and be repeatedly told that it was the area she and dad met under the full moon.

"Arissa! Arissa!" Cleo calls me; wanting me to stop.

I ignored her and continue to run. I needed to know if what she told me was true. Nor did I wanted to believe it. My mom would never do such a thing, knowing that I only had her and leave me all alone.

"Mom!" I called out almost reaching the tree.

As I got close to the three. I stop instantly, seeing my mom hanging from the tree with a rope around her neck within the pretty pink dress she left the house in and too the dress dad had always loved seeing her in; encircled by numerous pack members.

"Mom!....." I cried out seeing that she too was no longer going to be here with me. I was now alone; without any parents and anyone to love me. At that moment I felt all hope for me was gone and that it was pointless being alive as well.

A pack member begins to cut the rope from around my mom's neck from the tree to pull her down. Seeing my mom falling from the tree lifeless and landing hard onto the ground making an awful sound without anyone trying to catch her. I fainted instantly.
